Chapter 1: The Story Begins

The months passed, and I found myself learning a lot about what I was. A human being, and we communicated differently than the wolves.

It was a weird experience, but it was not hard. The meals were made for me but were what they called cooked. it was a new flavor that was something I came to enjoy.

I ate a lot compared to them, and I was always looked at differently. Though, my sister always pampered me.

She made sure I was not forgotten about. It made me feel at home. I was old enough to go to school, but I didn't have the proper paperwork. I had to be adopted.

It took a few, but I was official. It also helped that I my father worked for the government.

They were curious about me, so I will be brought in after graduation. This is cause the first time they tried the company, they lost half their members in one facility.

"Cody!" My sister shouted as she shook me to get up. I looked at her and yawned. She then dragged me out of bed. My head hit the floor, and I just stared at her, annoyed.

I know I can't feel it, but still. You are a bit inconsiderate for my well-being." She threw my clothes at me and walked out.

I got ready and washed my face. As I headed downstairs, I remembered I had left my backpack. I rushed back up and grabbed it off my nightstand. I walked into the kitchen, where I saw my mom and my sister chatting.

My mom fears me, and I don't blame her. She witnessed me slaughter a lot of people. I am trying to get her to chill because I would never hurt her. I am very protective of those I consider dear to me.

As for my powers, I can't control them yet. It is weird, and I hope it doesn't stay that way. I want to be able to protect the people I care about. I saw my mom slowly easing up but could sense the fear.

"I don't mean to scare you, mom. Please understand..." She walked away, and I just felt bad.

"Don't let it get you down, Cody. She will warm back up to you. It is just hard seeing that a person like you exists." She tried to cheer me up. "Let's go, we gonna miss...." Oh no, the bus!" I looked outside and saw the bus.

I grabbed her hand and pulled her. We made it to the bus stop, but I forgot my backpack. "I'll meet you at school. I ran normally back and grabbed my backpack. I saw the bus take off. It was fine, I could run faster than the bus anyway.

I walked outside and looked around. Noticed nobody was looking, so I began to take off. A sonic boom was created behind me as I had already broken the sound barrier. My powers manipulated the air so that way I wasn't creating damage to things around me due to how fast I was running.

I made it to school and waited for Hannah to get dropped off. I fixed my hair so that it wasn't obvious. The bus driver looked at me all weird when he saw me standing there. I just smiled and waved.

"You doofus. You are gonna get caught. let's go. I gotta show you around, but first, let me talk to my teacher. We walked down the main entrance, and there were a lot of people. Must be normal. One of the only schools where it has all grades in one school.

Hannah walked me through a ton of halls and turns that just got way too confusing to remember. We wound up in front of a math class with a teacher named Mrs. Gibson. Hannah knocked, and a teacher who looked in her mid-30s walked out.

"Hannah? It is not even time for your homeroom class yet. What are you doing here?" Mrs. Gibson looked at me, and I waved.

"I am Cody, and I am Hannah's little brother. I was wondering if she could show me around. This is cause she is gonna miss homeroom, and I didn't want her to get in trouble. I am adopted, and I don't trust easily, so I would rather have her show me. Is that okay?" I politely asked.

"Way to lay it on thick, kid. I don't care. Hannah is the top kid in my class. It should be okay for her to miss some time." Hannah thanked her, and she then drug me through the hallway. She explained as she went down the hallways. Her explanations were rather detailed and felt like she had been through a lot.

"Didn't I tell you this hallway is not for little kids!" A big guy who had to have been high school grade level.

"I am sorry. I was just showing my little brother around." Hannah told him. Her voice began to tremble, and I didn't like that.

"This hallway doesn't belong to you, so leave us alone." I told him.

"Cody, don't!"

"You should listen to your big sister. You are not gonna like the outcome for your back talk."

"She was warning you, not me. Plus, what you get out of it. You beat up an elementary school kid. Wow, so strong, and be proud of your achievement. Ahhhh, you are too weak to pick on people your age, so you pick on the small and weak. I am sorry, but I am not weak.

I saw him get more and more enraged with each insult. He lunged at me, and his fist was in slow motion. It was weird. I side stepped and stood in front of a wall. I waited for him to strike again, and I knew he wasn't smart enough to read my plan. As he went to strike, I let him hit me. He broke his hand on my face, and he began to wail in pain. Teachers came running to us where I stood acting innocent.

I was in front of the principal who looked at me, and then my sister. "What happened?"

"My sister was showing me around cause I don't trust easy. I was abandoned in the woods growing up, and they found me. Raised by wolves, and this isn't made up." I walked over to his computer and typed it up. The principal just looked at me crazy and then was in shock. "So, you see why I don't trust easy. We got the okay from her teacher Mrs. Gibson, and you can call to verify. While she was showing me the school, the kid in the nurse's office was hostile. Saying kids don't belong down that hall. He was scaring my big sis, so I stepped up and told him to back off. The bully swung two times. the second one, he hit the wall."

"Well, I don't believe him when he states he broke his hand on your face. Don't be a hero, okay, Cody. People are not as nice as you think, and the movies have it wrong." The principal let us go, and I went to my class.

"You know how to get to your class from here?" Hannah asked

I nodded and headed to my class. Upon walking in, the teacher looked at me.

"We have a new student. Cody Wells? Go on introduce yourself.

"My name is Cody Wells, and yes, I am the kid you saw on the news that was found in the woods raised by wolves. No, I am not savage, and don't push me around or make fun of me. I already sent one person to the nurse's office. I tend to keep to myself, so please stay to yourselves. I am very blunt, and don't sugar coat anything." I saw an open seat, so I sat down. The class just stayed quiet as I sat down.

The teacher cleared his throat and began the lecture where I just sighed. Sat there thinking I know this already so why do I have to learn it again. I just daydreamed, and I answered questions when I was called upon. The teacher handed us homework for the class, which I did there and turned it into him.

With each lecture, I got more and more bored. The recess bell rang, and we all headed to the playground. I decided to just do laps. Cause it was what I did to calm my mind. I was jogging with the upper classmen, and they were competitive.

I decided to race them, and it was fun. Knowing none could run anywhere as fast as I could. Every day recess came to be my favorite time. The teachers started placing bets on the races, and it was funny. I smoked their fastest runners. It got so bad that they allowed the 12 graders to join to try and outrun me. It was never gonna happen, but I liked to make them think it was gonna happen.

I loved PE, too, cause I was able to run too. It also let me train my strength to play sports. It would be bad if I threw a ball that killed someone, so I had to train how to apply my strength. I had fun, and I came to grow on the people around me. I made tons of friends and became somewhat popular.

My school life isn't really important, so I don't want to bore you with the small details of my life. I graduated and started a company that has revolutionized the world. The tech advances I made created easy living for those who can't move around like you and me.
