Chapter 4: The Unappreciated

The moment I heard those words, my heart sank. Sarah was kidnapped. Millions of thoughts crossed my mind as I calculated the many reasons why, but I could not figure out who.

I picked up my phone and called my mom. "Why haven't you been answering! This is your fault my daughter has been kidnapped!" The hostility in her voice was made clear. She still hates me.

"I was busy, and how is it my fault? Shouldn't you be doing a better job as a parent and watching her." My response made her fall silent. I could hear the words trying to come out, but every time, she stopped herself. "Last time I checked, you told me to leave. You made that choice. I am the only one who could protect her, and you know that..."

Like you protected your father and brother!" Rage but up inside me, and I teleported in front of her. Her face froze as I stood in front of her.

Watch it, I have had enough dealing with living with that on my conscience. The fact that you blame me is a reason you never deserved him. He sacrificed a lot to take care of a child that wasn't his. He took me in and made me feel wanted. Sarah was but a child and has only ever shown her love for me. Everyone, but you treated me right. You are the only one! no matter how much I was put through due to that incident. You dare bring it up to my face. You are an ungrateful woman. You will never be a mom to them and don't deserve to be called a mother!" She shut up quickly and backed up.

The energy pouring out my body was making the place shake. The weather outside was changed as a storm raged, lightning struck the ground outside as my rage went on.

I left, and as I stepped outside, I closed my eyes. I snapped my finger, and an echo location went off. The entire city was scanned as I searched for her location. She was 30 minutes out and held in a warehouse.

I flew upwards and headed for the warehouse. upon arrival, I saw Sarah crying. She was screaming when the kidnapper smacked her. She fell unconscious, and I lost it. I landed on the ground in front of him, and he held a gun towards her.

"Where is my..." Before he could finish his sentence, I snapped his arm. He screamed in pain and fell backward. holding his arm, he looked at me in terror. I slowly broke his bones on by one till he passed out. I then left him there and picked up Sarah. I smiled and was glad she wasn't awake for the brutal scene.

I teleported her home and laid her on the couch. I healed her body, and as she woke up, I vanished. I sat on my bed and felt empty. I couldn't do anything, but watch her from a far.

I sent money and even made a savings for Sarah. This was to make sure she was set when she turned 18.

Years passed, and that time came quicker than I could expect. She was graduating tomorrow, and I was proud.

"Blake! Prepare a ride for me. I am going to need you at this location at this time. I hung up the phone and headed to a car dealership.

I bought a car and drove it home. I quickly replace the carbon fiber with the new metal I created. the glass was reinforced with a rune and made it indestructible. I then drove it to her school, and as I stepped out, all eyes were on me.

Whispers were heard as everyone wanted to know who I was there for, and as I walked in, I saw her class of 300.

I quietly waited as the ceremony began and watched as they were given their diploma's. As Sarah walked up, I smiled. She has turned into a gorgeous woman. A guy kissed her cheek, and I was pissed.

I waited for the end, and as I walked up, I saw a guy hug Sarah. I got on stage and yanked him off. "First off, who are you, and what are you doing touching my sister?"

Sarah's eyes quickly teared up as she knew who I was. "Cody?" She ran into my arms and burst into tears. "I have missed you so much, and thank you for all the gifts. You know just how to spoil a girl. Mom is not happy, but who cares."

"Do you mind getting your hands off me!" I will have you know I am..."

"I will end your pathetic existence, and nobody would be able to stop me. First off, the government is afraid of me, and to this day, I will do anything I ask. One phone call, and I could have your entire family erased from history. Or I could end them myself. Don't threaten someone you know nothing about."

"Brett, I would not upset Cody. He isn't one to mess with. Anyways, I will call you..."

"We are over, and my father will be hearing about this. He is very rich and works for the Drake tech industry." He stated proudly.

"Brett? I own it, and who is this father of yours. Let me see how he will feel knowing he lost his entire future due to his negligence of parenting. I am Kai Spirit, founder of Drake Tech Industries." His jaw dropped as I informed of my actual name.

I looked at Sarah and grabbed her hand. She quickly followed me as I took her to her new car. "This is mine?"

"There are more gifts inside. As she opened the door with the keys I gave her, she got in. I pointed at the glove compartment, and she opened it. An envelope was in there.

As she opened the envelope, a check and another key was seen. You have access to my house at any time. The check is ready deposited in your account, and you have a massive savings I made for you." I smiled and saw tears running down her face.

"Why are you so nice to me? Why do you care so much. Even after all that my mom has said and done. You still take care of us and make sure we never go without. She has never said thank you nor acknowledged your efforts."

Sarah, my reason is simple. I do this cause I owe dad. Without him, I don't know where I'd be. He took me in and treated me like a son. Cared for me. You knew I was not normal and still loved me for me. Never feared me and pushed me away. You never blamed me for anything that happened to you all cause of me. This is me saying thank you." I hugged Sarah and patted her head.

"What are you doing here?" A familiar voice said from behind me.

"Nice to see you to mom." She huffed, and the look of disgust was visible.

"Mom! He only came to give me my graduation presents and say that he cares. You should be more grateful. He has taken care of both of us since he left." Sarah scolded her.

"I never asked for his help." She said, crossing her arms.

"Well, good, cause ad of this day I am stopping. you can pay for everything yourself from now on, and don't you dare beg Sarah for money." I will have a party at my place later. See you there?" Sarah smiled and nodded. I'm gonna bring friends! Maybe you can hook up with one. They are 18 now." I shook my head and was in shock.

"No, I am not gonna date one of your friends. Plus, my powers aren't something a normal person would be able to handle. I am gonna head home and prep for the party." I waved bye to her then got in my car as Blake just pulled up.

I sat there shaking my head. Sarah was about to pimp out her friends. What has she been learning?
