Chapter 4
I wake up, it has only been 7200 breaths since I fell asleep. My caretaker is still in the cell. He hasn't slept, it looks like he has been watching me the whole time.
My caretaker notice I was awake and smiled.
"So you have woken up?"
"You didn't sleep."
"Well ya, do you really think I could sleep in the same room as the boy who has killed 70 people now?"
Ah, so he didn't trust me. Well, that is what I get for thinking a human would trust or like me. Wow, calling me beautiful put me off the edge. But now that I know, I want to ask him about the powerful shadow attached to him.
"I don't care, but tell me why such a powerful shadow is attached to you."
"Oh good you noticed, it would be funny to have to tell such a powerful being like you. So I am right now taking control over this human. Without me, this human would be trembling in front of you."
Sometimes, I forget that shadows used to bow down towards me, and most humans would puck at the sight of me. Darky normally tells me to forget those things and so I do, but now that does seem important.
"So, do you know why?"
"Why would I be asking a shadow if I did?"
"Ok we have a sassy one here, it would be horrible if your mother found out that you have emotions."
"She won't, get ideas and I will erase your memories and I have the area covered with my Dark fog so no one beside us can hear or see us."
I have covered the area in a Dark fog but the erasing memories, I have only done it once, that being said Darky helped me.
"Darky, I am speaking to a shadow, right?
"Yes, my sweet child."
Ok so now I am sure, I should listen to what this shadow has to say.
"Oh yes, you did cover the area with the Dark Fog. But I think erasing my memories is a simple bluff. Anyways, do you know what you are?"
"I think so, I am half a shadow and half Human. And I was born to be experimented on."
"Ok, you have part of the story, do you know who your mother and father are?"
"My mother is the lady who experiments on me. And what is a father?"
"You poor hurt thing, a father is the person who helped your mother give birth to you. And your father is a very powerful being. But strangely enough, you happen to be more powerful."
"More powerful than you? You are the most powerful shadow I have ever seen, out of all the kids that used to be here...-"
"HAHAHAHAHA, YOU THINK I AM POWERFUL?! PLEASE, I CAN'T CONTROL MORE THAN ONE HUMAN AT A TIME!"
His sudden outburst started me a bit, I was not expecting such a strange response.
"hah....haha...ha. I am sorry, but it seems you know nothing, like these humans. They really think you have lost all your emotions! Can you believe that!"
"Well yes, I made them think that after my 188697600 breath, I stopped showing any emotion besides anger."
"You did a good job at that then, they still don't know. Anywho, sorry for insulting you before but I am only a level 5 shadow. In the shadow world, the ability of a shadow is counted in levels. There are 7 levels. Level 1 is the least powerful and level 7 is the most. Anyone above level 4 is considered a powerful shadow because their ability is above average. Anyone under is just a normal shadow. We can gain more ability by human desire but after level 5 it is very had to go up. Shadows how are born with level 4 and above are known to be leaders. Once they grow up they help the king. And those who get above level 4 with human desire are like the kings' spies."
"So because you are here I am thinking you are a spy."
"Correct, how do you know what a spy is."
"Those are what my caretakers are. They are spies, they watch me and report what they see to mother, that's another reason why they think I don't have emotions, I just talk to Darky when the caretakers are here."
"Darky? Ok... anyway, you are smart. Yes, I was born as a level 3 shadow. So it didn't take very long till I moved up. But back to you, your father was born a level 1 but only after a few years be became a level 7. Yes, your father is an intensely powerful being. You on the other hand take the cake. You are a level...
"CARETAKER! ARE YOU STILL ALIVE?!"
"Yes madam. I am still here, is it morning yet? I can't tell because of ALL THE DARK FOG."
I knew what he meant. I pull the fog away and pretend to be asleep.
"Good, now you may come out now."
I hear the door to my cell open. The Shadow human is leaving. But before he does he whispers:
"I will be back."
Those words were the same ones that 67 said before he left. But he hasn't come back. How will I know that he will come back? But it's ok if he doesn't because according to him, most likely if he fails another shadow will come. I mean that what happened to my caretakers. Once I killed one a new come came in their place. So I wouldn't be surprised if another shadow came but one thing doesn't make sense. Why would a spy come to this place and why now, why not before.
The thing I am want to ask most about is: WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YEARS?!
