Chapter 9

It has been 4 days

There are 60 breaths in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, and 24 hours in a day. A day is a cycle between the sun and moon. It has been 3 days because I have counted 345600 breaths that's how I know. In the 3 days, I have learned to read, really, really well. Write really, really good and I have learned all the human subjects. Math, Science, Langues Arts. Today I will be learning History. Flower has been the one teaching me this stuff. She says by next week (One week is 7 days, 52 weeks in a year, and a year is 365 days) I will be going to school. Humans school, that way I will learn more about them. Flower says I am a

gifted learner. I don't know what that means.

Every 'day' I wake up from sleeping, without having to get stabbed or anything, get dressed into new/clean clothes every day, and eat black pudding. Black pudding is just a bunch of hard/jelly blood with a bunch of 'sugar' inside. Then I go outside with books to Flower can teach me. I like going outside, is not super dark, and it smells fresh/clean. It feels nice. Shadows' weakest time is when the sun is in the highest position. But it doesn't matter for me because I am half-human.

"Sweet kid, it's time for you to wake up."

Darky wakes me up every 'day'. I get up off the floor. The soft thing I am supposed to sleep on feels weird. So I sleep on the floor instead. Putting on the clothes lying on my bed, I notice a new book 'History of the world'. That is most likely because today I am learning about history. I grab the book and go to the kitchen (A place where food is prepared) and eat the black pudding sitting on the table. Dade hasn't been here for the past 3 days. Flower says it is because he is at work. I finish the pudding and go outside. Their, Flower is sitting in her chair, waiting for me.

"You are here."

"Yeah."

"I KNEW THAT HODDIE WOULD LOOK CUTE ON YOU!!!"

I don't understand what is so cute. On the hoddie are two small animals playing with a ball. Flower kinda treats me like her living doll. Trying clothing on me.

"Anyways today as you know we will be doing human history, open your book to page '5'. I will be reading it today so just follow along."

I open the page she says.

"Around 1 million years ago, only a few humans knew of the existence of shadows, and they were the government. The world was split into many lands known as 'Continents'. Each 'Continents' government would conduct experiments on shadows to gain their powers. While the rest of the world was rising higher and higher in technology. They all were unsuccessful until one day, all the experiments in the whole world worked. Any questions so far?"

"Yeah, why didn't the Shadow King stop the humans?"

"He didn't know, continuing on, the day they all were successful in transferring some of the power from shadows to humans by draining it out of them. At that exact time, the earth started shifting, moving each continent into one. Because of that huge movement, the device holding the power of the shadows broke. Spreading to all the humans in the world. All human bodies accepted the power. Most humans with shadows didn't get a lot of power. The Shadow king became suspicious because of all the sudden movement and came to check on the world. Then he found out about what the humans were doing to Shadows and a Huge war broke out. The war lasted 200 years. Why because each new generation of humans hows ancestors were exposed gained a different shadow power. So they could fight. The Shadow King then made a pact with the 3 Queens; the leaders of the world at the time. They would all be given 2 shadows, male and female to experiment on. They would not be allowed to kidnap more but they could do whatever they wanted with those Shadows and in return, they would not hurt other Shadows. The 3 Queen agreed. Finally ending the war. Do you have any questions?"

"No, please continue."

"Ok, then 3 Queens divided the huge land into 3 separate places. Each with an equal amount of land. The first Queen named her land: Shine Palet. The second named hers: Avilion where we are. And the third named hers: Midlight. After that, the people where they wanted to live, and the royal family were appointed. The Royal Family is a family where each generation has 2 shadows gifts and really powerful. Noble families were appointed by that each generation has 1 power as most people but very powerful as well.

"Waited so they didn't get all the powers?"

"Oops, sorry I skipped that part. Each generation of humans exposed to the powers got a different power. Each on benefiting the generation. Only people who got the main power get 2 new power each generation and are extremely powerful. Humans who had no shadow and were exposed still only get one power but again very powerful. And people who had a shadow didn't get much power but they could have a kid that is noble level in power. Powerful children go to a special school to help the land they live on. While normal powered children get taught in regular schools. Does that answer your question?"

"Yes."

"Ok, back on track. After many generations, the Leader of each Section-that is what they decided to call the land they like on; Sections. They wanted more power, more land, more glory and so the experimenting that had been forgotten started again, making the male and female shadow they got have many children that had their children and so on; that way that had million of shadows to experiment on. This happened 1000s of years ago. Most have forgotten about the experiments and hopefully will. That is all I will be reading but to tell you, this book has the full history, in normal human books they don't include the experimenting part. So most humans don't even know it happened."

"Ok I understand, so what is the current power for this generation of humans?"

"Creating a dark fog."

"Oh, that's super easy!"

"Yes for you, that is why we have put you in a special school because it will give you the best idea of how humans are. Some will think of themselves as so much even though you have all the powers. And those how will hide their power until they need it. And those how are powerful but don't think of themself as that. You will meet many characters at school."

"So, I will only be allowed to create a fog? And that being said at a very low level, Right?"

"You are a very fast learner. Yes, you will pretend to be the son of a noble. And humans' most powerful is our level 2 shadows. So you will have to use very little and they will think you are quite powerful. Can you do that?"

"Yeah, I think so. What will we be learning tomorrow?"

"Nothing! It's a weekend! We are going to town!"

"REALLY!"

"YUP!!! Time for your first really Fun adventure.!!!!"
