I could feel them getting dangerously close.
If it had been just me, I would have been freer in my thoughts and movements, but being responsible for someone completely changed the way I looked at things in every way.
I had to find a way to get us out of there, but how? I added with disillusioned irony. With fear and guilt, I developed a power that I guessed was his, Seiran's, who was in a situation I didn't even know was serious.
Through his magic, I felt my body and my mind go on a new and unknown road, where the nature of my human strength was lost in the ashes of nothingness. And so I had the ability to adapt my body to any situation in order to be delivered from it.
We jumped high and landed on the roofs. Fortunately, Yriane, who was a magician, did not need my support to do so. In other words, despite my good intentions, I was in a way the weak link in our duo.
We fled to the rooftops, then back down the dark alleys, and back to the rooftops. But finally, in spite of my new ability and our advance on our tormentors, they finally caught up with us and surrounded us.
Yriane, still traumatized by her long imprisonment, immediately panicked and hugged me in terror. I could feel her fear through my skin, and then penetrate it before invading me completely.
They surrounded us, always looking at me with this look of circumspection, I understood that they wanted me to a point that would have been incomprehensible to me before, but that since this unique meeting with this being of the worlds, I was able to conceive its depth. Abysmal but attainable. Only the reason escaped me.
As I could not explain to myself the power that allowed me to disappear, at the very moment when the chief, consumed with lust, stretched his arms of chains towards me to take me, and to take my friend in this disappearance.
We were still there, in the awful reality, but only invisible to our tormentors, and even to our own eyes. This unexpected magic that made the invisibility of the body possible, gave us the unexpected strength to escape from their vision and their unspeakable intentions, and to run away. We looked at each other, our faces lit up with a joy and hope without a name, thinking we could finally escape. But alas for us, the invisibility did not last long, although enough to put us out of danger.
Yriane was already very weak, I could see that all those emotions and curses had worn her out. Still, I was grateful to my powers for giving us enough security to make it to the station together without our pursuers catching up.
At least, that's what I still wanted to make myself believe. Unfortunately, something interfered again with the escape that should have been perfect.
- Little girl, you're going to have a pretty interesting taste.
- Let go... let go of me...!
- Don't worry. Although you're not her, and you never will be, you'll satisfy me enough to get my mood back. You won't even know anything anymore, and you'll forget everything, just like your world makes people forget.
I looked over the wall that separated us from these new people. They weren't really the ones chasing us, though they all seemed to know about me. They were different in style of face and dress, but other than that, their souls were similar in everything, damned and scabrous.
But what really wounded my heart was the one they held in their power, a girl as beautiful as the sunrise, long hair like the colors of the horizons in the bloody twilight, with her wonderful jade greens, contained in a face, on a body of unheard-of beauty, but a body still so full of the traces of childhood
I shook my head to pull myself together, because the moment was not at all to admire this splendor but precisely to provide the necessary courage to go and save her.
- Dania, we must do something," exclaimed Yriane, who, like her, refused to let this sublime child be abandoned in the hands of evil.
- Yriane, you will go ahead, I decided with bravery. With my smell and my actions, they will be too busy hunting me down to take care of you. This will make it easier for you to reach the countryside. You will then wait on the road when you feel you can rest without being in danger. Wait until sunrise, if we are not there yet, then go.
- But you, you two? she asked, upset, with tears in her eyes.
- The two of us will not be able to cope with it, because my magic is limited and I won't have the strength to bear your presence anymore. And you are already too tired.
Yriane finally nodded, knowing that this was the only solution. And while I was watching her leave in the direction of the railroad, waving to me, as a sign of courage and desire of reunion, I was already preparing myself mentally to fight against these monsters of ignominy. Making the turn of the district, as much to facilitate even more the escape of Yriane as the rescue of the girl of the dawn, dispersing with force my so aphrodisiac odor that I felt them panic to the extreme, I ended up going up on the roof, and faced them.
- Get your stinking hands off that girl!
