School was hectic as I had to catch up on everything and get things turned in. I never want to miss a day of school again.
As I was walking home from school Drew walked with me a little bit behind me. after a while I could take it and I turned around.
"Drew, just go home, please. It looks like you're stalking me."
"From now on I'm taking you home too. I don't like how you go home to a den of hungry dogs everyday."
"Oh my god, Drew. Back off, seriously. You're acting like some over protective father."
He looked hurt like I hit some nerve of his.
Guilty at his new expression I said something to comfort him.
"I'm fine, really."
Besides, Christopher, Jake, and Alex might still be gone and Drake is most likely out too. The only people home should be Jonathan and Sebastian. Out of all of them those two would probably be the least to pose a threat. So, yeah, I should be fine.
I kept that part to myself knowing that if I did say that out loud Drew might want to move in with me too to "protect" me. If anything it would be so he could keep an eye on me and keep them away from "his girl".
"At least let me do this Sam. I'm not asking much."
Yes you are! If they see me with you I can only imagine they might do from pure jealousy. Scratch that, I know what they would do.
I ignored that thought too and just turned around and continued home.
"Fine. Just don't walk behind me like that. People might think you're stalking me."
As soon as I said that he caught up to me and started walking at my pace beside me with a big grin on his face. I rolled my eyes and kept on the path to home.
We walked in silence for literally on second before Drew spoke up again being himself.
"Can I hold your hand like old times?"
I smacked the back of his head glaring at him.
"As if."
He laughed while rubbing the back of his head where I hit him. Soon enough we got to my house and I turned to face him.
"Well, we're here which means you can go now and leave me alone."
"At least let me walk you in."
I glared at him.
"No."
"Aw, c'mon Sam, please-"
I started walking inside the house and closing the door.
"Goodbye Drew."
I closed the door right in his face really not wanting to here him whine or make up excuses. I stood there for a bit still seeing him on the steps looking straight ahead with a solemn look on his face before turning around and slowly walking off.
I rolled my eyes knowing it was all an act before heading up to my room so far not see not anyone on the way. I relaxed a bit at the thought until I saw my door opened.
I walked in slowly, cautious of who could be in there when a slight scream escaped my lips when I saw the slight bit of a figure in my room.
The so called figure jumped a little at my scream and after refocusing a bit in the darkness of my room I finally realized who it was.
It was Jonathan.
A let out a sigh of relief when I saw that it was the least troublesome of the group in my room and I turned on the light seeing his face covered in guilt and the color scarlet.
"Oh, uh, hi. I'm sorry. I was, u-uh, getting a book from, you know, your, ah, collection. Well, it's not really that, I am, according to you, uh-"
He stopped, probably from noticing how he was practically rambling and stuttering. I couldn't help but let go of some of my laughter making him look even more embarrassed.
He was just undoubtedly cute right now.
After composing myself I cleared my throat before responding to him to ease his nerves a bit.
"It's fine Jonathan. I trust you."
I walked over to my desk and dropped off my book bag by it and joined Jonathan by my bookshelf.
"What are you looking for?"
His face was still kind of red as he skimmed over the covers of my books, reading over the spines.
He muttered something out that I could hardly hear.
"What was that?" I asked hoping I could get a second chance at hearing what he said.
He dug his face down and his ears became red as he struggled to get the words out again.
"R...ro-romance..." He whispered still barely audible.
He kept his face far from my view probably embarrassed at how he was reacting to this situation.
I kept in my laughter as I tried responding to him.
"Romance? I've got lots of those. What kinds?"
I started pulling out a couple books I liked that I knew I enjoyed reading over their summaries.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Jonathan start to fidget with his sleeves as his ears got a little redder.
"Whichever ones you liked the most."
Still his voice was very quiet but I heard what he said clearly this time.
With the two books I had on hand with me I looked over them again and shrugged before handing them over to Jonathan with a small smile on my face.
"These are probably my favorite ones out of all of them. I don't know if you'll like them but if you ever want something else just ask me."
I tried pushing my last sentence at him hoping I would have another moment like earlier for both our sakes.
I watched as he slowly brought his hands out to grab the books, still keeping his head down as if still trying to avoid my face. His hands were shaking a bit as he grabbed the books and pulled them close to his chest hugging them a little.
"Th-thank you."
He looked up a bit but still avoided my eyes as he hugged the books a little tighter.
"It's no problem."
We stood in silence for a bit not really knowing what to say to each other.
"Th-thank you again. I'm just gonna go now," Jonathan stuttered out as he started to leave my room. Before I saw anything to him he left closing my door along the way.
I walked over to my desk and pulled out some of the school work I had to do smiling to myself a bit.
He really is kind of cute.
