>Chapter 14<
The boys looked around them.
The moon was high up in the sky, looking down at the creatures and illuminating them with its silver light. A night veil was covering the night sky. Occasionally, some white dots, representing starts, could be seen in the distance. Around them was a dense forest. White mist was covering up most of the forest, making the boys occasionally bump into trees.
Panic- stricken, the boys immediately fell to the ground on their knees. They didn't know why they were so stressed. Aside from the fact that they just randomly appeared outside right after they went to sleep, they had almost nothing to fear, except the giant lion… and the birds…
'Fuck'
All of the boys wanted to scream out loud, but they knew better than to do so. After all, monsters could be hiding anywhere.
Calming down, even if it was a little, the boys once again looked at their surroundings. They perfectly remembered this moment. The moment where they hid behind the bushes and watched the wolf-man do his thing.
"How the heck are we here?" Tim asked in desperation.
"How in the hell am I supposed to know?" Patrick answered in frustration. Even with his personality, it was impossible not to be frustrated by what kept happening to them.
"Shh… Look ahead." Jacob shushed the boys before pointing at something behind the bushes.
The scene was completely the same as before. There was the man, just minding his own business and sitting on a log. Then there were the boys, hiding behind the bushes, their eyes following his every action. Everything was completely the same. They could even feel the same things they had felt at that time. Feel the same kind of despair and helplessness.
And what happened next was of no exception…
The man appeared behind Patrick once again. But this time, nobody was looking behind, so they didn't notice the man's actions until they heard a scream of pain.
Looking behind them, they found the man with his giant claw coming out of Patrick's chest. Their already fearful expressions immediately changed into ones of horror. They tried to run away, but before they could even move, their vision turned bright red, like one of the finest wines, and then turned black, into a never-ending darkness…
The darkness was then broken by a fluttering light that came into contact with their eyes. Afterwards the boys quickly sat up…
"Haa, haa…"
Heavy breaths were escaping the mouths of the boys, who had just woken up. Their eyes were trembling when they remembered what had happened in their dream. At least they thought that it was a dream.
Calming their breath, the group closed their eyes and just started into the darkness of their eyelids. Relaxing their tense shoulders, the boys slowly opened their eyes and exhaled.
"What was that?" One of them asked.
"Who knows, I just hope that it doesn't happen again." Another one replied.
"Let's get some fresh air. Maybe that will clean our minds a bit."
The rest just nodded at this suggestion before getting up and walking out of the cave. Once they were out, they could see that it was already sunrise. Although, they didn't feel like they had slept for the whole night. Noticing the calm water and the small fish peacefully swimming in it brought the boys the calmness they desperately needed.
Breathing in the fresh smell of the water and the burnt forest and feeling the cold morning air definitely helped them out a lot. After staying like this for nearly ten minutes, Tim spoke up.
"I think it's time we got out of here."
The others didn't reply but just went back into the cave to pack their things in the backpacks they had found during their small search that they had done yesterday.
After packing their stuff, they swam out of the cave. Landing on the burnt ground, they couldn't help but smile wryly. They had just gotten another reason to get stronger in this strange place.
They walked towards the water stream they had found yesterday. Once they were there, they made their way upstream and continued walking.
A few hours later…
It was around lunch time. The light shone down on the water, creating small rainbows here and there. The temperature was steadily increasing as time progressed. The river was increasing in width very fast, so the boys thought that the stream flowed into a lake or a sea.
The boys were currently sitting in the shallow part of the river. They were trying to feel the water current flowing and imagining it as the energy. They had gotten to the conclusion of the energy flow as to what the person associates it to. For example, one might think of the energy as a flow, which in turn makes them associate it with water.
There were many ideas, but the closest one for now was the flow of the water. They didn't have the resources or opportunities to try out their other ideas as to how the energy "flows".
Feeling the small waves making contact with their body, the boys either stood or sat quietly, attempting to unveil the secrets as to how the energy work.
After some time, nobody really knows how long, the boys felt something happening beside them. They turned their gazes into that direction and found Tim being surrounded by a faint light blue glow. Right after that, the waves around him started to tremble and it did not take very long for the water to start to completely avoid him, as if it was scared of coming into contact with him.
Tim then opened his eyes and looked around him with an excited smile. He finally got it! He can now control this power, even if it is a small amount.
The others just looked at him with an envious gaze to which Tim just smirked triumphantly.
*Tsk*
They ignored him and continued to fell the flow, but they were soon in for another surprise.
Patrick who was not far away sitting on the dry ground, just feeling the warm sun gently caressing his skin, suddenly went up in flames. The fires then started to dance around him, as if celebrating the fact that he finally acquired his energy control.
After opening his eyes, he jumped into the air yelling "Yahoo" while running around. The others just looked at him as if he were an idiot before ignoring him before trying to focus once again. Though, they won't be doing that for very long because there is not a journey that is too smooth…
