Chapter - 15

Cursed Mountains - Devil Valley

A young man darted out, a red coloured wing appearing on his back. The young man gazed at the valley below while flying with his wings stretched out. Then, unfolding his wings slightly, he glided through a narrow gap between several cliffs. As his vision became broad, a small mountain peak appeared before him a little while later. Compared to the other mountains covering this valley, this peak looked like a small ant-hill.

This valley is known as the Devil Valley, a small portion of the Cursed Mountains adjacent to Blue Cloud City. Several legends once spoke of a vicious evil cultivator called Blood Fiend Daoist, who once fell on this valley after a battle.

Several blood-red trees could be seen on this mountain peak; atop those towering trees were a large group of Blood-drinker Owls hovering silently scrutinising at the young man at a distance.

When the young man flew over towards the mountain peak, all of the Blood-drinker Owls hovering in the air suddenly halted and moved inside their nests, staring at him. Then, after a while, all those Blood-drinker Owls slowly flared their wings, hooting strangely as if warning the young man to not come forward.

The young man landed silently near the mountain peak, and his wings folded against his back. He looked at the Blood-drinker Owls and, ignoring them, started ambling towards the rise.

The atmosphere turned strange and solemn. Even if there was a slight wind, no rustling sound of a leaf could be heard. Given the eerie ambience, this place has a well-deserved name and reputation.

After walking along with the rise for a few moments, the young man sighted a colossal tree. The tree's trunk was so thick that it took nearly hundreds of people to put their arms around them.

He knew this because he had killed a hundred people to test this. Their arms now lay connected along the trunk, proving his theory.

As he neared the tree, a few branches entwined to form an archway towards the wooden door. Approaching the wooden door gave the young man a suffocating feeling as his blood started to boil.

Literally, his blood started to boil.

Holding his pain, he entered the door and saw a huge mound made of blood-red jade. A thick pillar made of unknown material atop a blood-red skull was in the centre of the ridge. The skeleton possessed mysterious and inexhaustible energy, which enveloped the mountain peak. What's astonishing is that the skull had three triangle-shaped holes.

The young man bowed to the skull and took a few jars from his ring. Then, pouring the content of these jars, he started chanting an obscure and mysterious chant. By the end of the chant, the skull began to glow and produced a groaning sound.

A small skull imprint appeared on his forehead and started to glow.

The skull started to talk with a loud noise: "Blood of Body Quenching cultivator again?"

"Master, I couldn't find any other." The young man slowly stood up after completing his chant. His skin had now turned red.

"Trash. When I was at my peak, I wouldn't use such blood to even let my servant wash his own feet." The skull spoke in a disdainful tone.

It continued, "Next time, bring me more or Qi Refinement cultivator blood."

The young man now bowed and said: "Master, I need the second chapter of Blood Devil Chant. My cultivation is stuck, and if I can't breakthrough, I won't be able to...."

BANG !!!!

A blood-red whip emerged from the pillar and struck the young man right on his cheek. The young man didn't dare to scream in pain.

"When did I allow a trash to speak?" The whip now made a swinging motion and stopped near the young man's forehead. It didn't continue to hit him but slowly started fading.

"Hmph. If not that I need a slave, why would this seat even give you the chant?" The skull spoke in a creepy tone.

The young man only stared at the skull. A small imprint of a skull still glowing on his forehead.

"System, why is there a seed on my face?"

Long Chen was lying on the roof of the Chen clan guest house, quietly gazing at the starry sky. Then, suddenly, a small object about the size of an Earthern sunflower seed appeared in front of him and fell on his face.

"Host, this is the seed of Luminous flower."

"System, thanks for your botany lesson, but I want to know why is it not inside the ground but on my face."

"Host, how long are you studying the inscriptions for?"

"System, please don't make this a long conversation about concern for me and then a 'Ding'. Instead, just say whatever you want to say."

'Ding. Attention, host.'

'Mission: Plant the Luminous flower seed at the Noend Valley.'

'Reward - 1: Mortal Grade Fist Battle Skill for Body Quenching Stage.'

'Reward - 2: Karma Points Missions can be opened.'

'System's honest comments: Dig a warm place and place the seed.'

'System additional comments: Chen Hong will visit this valley in future to collect the Luminous Five Petal Flame.'

"System, what're these Karma points?"

"Host, it's the points needed to access the system's store."

"System, show me the store first."

A panel appeared in Long Chen, where a long list of items is available for trade.

Long Chen closed the panel and went back to stargazing.

"Host, you there?"

".."

"Host...Host.."

"System, if you aren't serious, then forget it." Saying that, he threw the seed away.

"Host, the default setting is Price - High to Low."

Long Chen looked at the panel again. Several drop-down fields were there, and he selected the Price - Low to High."

Long Chen's balls ached.

Cursed Mountains - Noend Valley

Cursed Mountains, the place where nature never rests and intruders always rest in peace.

Life here changes through the year, seasons, throughout the day. Now that it recently rained, the smell of rain on arid earth, the fragrance of various herbs woke up from their nightly slumber.

Inside this forest, a young man was battling a small beast. The creature he was fighting was a hound, a beast on the cusps of reaching the Qi Refinement stage. Its skin was thick, and ordinary weapons wouldn't even put a scar.

This youth was holding a spear, striking and thrusting at the beast. His attacks slowly started cutting through the hound's skin. Knowing that it had met its match, the hound was constantly retreating, trying to find a way to head straight into the forest to escape.

"You wish to run? Not a chance!" Seeing that the hound wanted to escape, the young man yelled as his entire body poised itself, the spear furiously thrusting with full pressure.

Peng!

A bright flash of light rushed out from the point, forming a needle size string of spear intent. The intent ran towards the fleeing hound, cutting through its ribcage. The beast didn't get up after falling down.

There were countless beasts within the Cursed Mountain Range. After fleeing and fighting several beasts, his entire body was ragged and covered with wounds. In addition, there was a big claw mark streaking across his back.

After killing the beast, he took several stalks of herbs from his bag. Then, mixing them, he quickly grounded a paste to wrap his wounds.

"I need to experience more battles to temper myself. Only life or death battle can improve my instincts." The young man muttered as he sat cross-legged on the ground to rest.

After a few moments, just as he was preparing to leave, a rustling noise was heard not far from his position. He immediately ran up the closest tree without wasting any time to ponder.

Soon after, he saw a young man completely covered in wounds, pursued by a beast. The whole area was immersed in a furious roar.

ROAR !!!!

This was the roar of a feline beast prowling through the forest, scattering all the smaller beasts nearby.

Spirit Devouring Tiger !!!!!!

The young man shuddered in the tree as he saw this beast. If he tried to fight this beast with his current strength, the only result would be death. He could only hope that the young man being chased quickly ran in a different direction. But, unfortunately, the young man directly climbed the tree near him.

The spear-wielding young man cursed in his heart. Then, without thinking much, he directly jumped and began running as fast as he could towards the cave he had been before. At least the entrance was narrow enough to hold the beast, and he could take a few breathers.

One thing was clear to him, the other young man had somehow offended the Spirit Devouring Tiger, resulting in this chase.

Furthermore, the beast's next target would undoubtedly be him if he didn't run far enough now. So he ran as fast as possible, came across a cave entrance, and quickly jumped.

Deep within the cave, the young man started to walk in the direction of a lair he had been before. It was a small blue-furred hare's nest, and several bunnies were running around. Taking one in his hand, he immediately killed it and roasted it to eat. After all that fighting and running, the young man was starving.

Cluck !!!!!

An ear-piercing howl suddenly came from close by as a shadow suddenly leapt out of a remote corner. The shadow was way too swift for the young man to react to. The instant he attempted to get away, his shoulder was bitten by the fierce creature, and he bled.

Enduring the pain, the young man gritted his teeth and tried to get away again. However, the creature again charged straight at him. He finally got a clear view of the shadow attacking him at that moment. It was a sizeable blue-furred hare, flashing its sharp teeth and staring furiously at him.

Knowing that he had nowhere to escape, the young man intently started attacking the beast with his spear. But, unfortunately, although this beast's strength was nothing in his eyes, his strength was low due to previous fights, and he didn't get a chance to rest.

A quick thrust whipped out, containing all the energy he could find. He wanted to outright kill this beast with a single move. However, the blue-furred hare managed to change direction mid-flight, narrowly dodging his weapon and charging at him from a different direction.

The young man's arm was deeply bitten, and he could almost see the bone.

"Pierce the Heavens", The young man bellowed, utterly enraged. He sent out slash after slash, forcing the blue-furred hare to retreat to a distance. Finally, he found an opening and thrust his spear straight at it. After crying out in pain, the beast was sent flying away deep into a small space.

The small space led to a cave where a young man was currently digging.

A blast of wind shot out of nowhere, and a blue object flew straight at his face.

"What the fuck?" A mad bellow was heard throughout the entire cave.
