It's Me

Waking up at 6:30 a.m. I stretch and smile to myself, today is December first. Today we get to start decorating at the bakery. I am so excited I love Christmas. Oh wait I guess I should introduce myself.

Hello, my name is Ellen Mitchell. I am nineteen years old. My birthday is in a little under two weeks two weeks and I can't wait. I am five foot two. I have long black hair and green eyes. I have a small button nose, and what I am told are elf ears. My parents always told me they made me special. I live in a little town in the Black Hills of South Dakota called Shadow Ridge. I was an only child and now I am an orphan. My parents died when I was seventeen in a car accident. I have been alone for two years. My parents were close to paying off their house and I was their beneficiary so I was able to take over the mortgage payments. I used half of the money they left me to make a large payment on the house the rest I put in my bank account. Luckily I love my work. I work at the small bakery in town called Blue Moon Sweets. The owner Edith is a wonderful person I love her like a grandmother. She is the sweetest person I have ever met. She helped me when my parents died. She paid her lawyer to help me with the will and everything. She even helped me with the funerals. All in all she is a wonderful person and I love her so much. I have worked here for the last four years and it has been great. Every year we decorate for all of the holidays. But I have to say christmas is my favorite. I can't wait to see what this year's theme will be.

I get up and go in and take my shower, once I'm dressed I head downstairs to make breakfast for myself. By 7:30 a.m. I head out the door. Since I live a half a mile outside of town I ride my bike in and am happy that it hasn't snowed yet. I truly hope it snows by Christmas. By eight I pull up in front of the bakery. Then I chain up my bike and walk inside.

"Good Morning Edith, how are you today? When can we start decorating? What is the theme this year? And do we have any special orders today?"

"Well good morning to you to, as soon as we get the orders out we will start with the decorations. This year I want to do blue and gold and also our animal it is going to be the Wolf. What do you think?"

"That sounds great to me. What are the orders we have going out today? Am I baking or boxing?"

"I need you to box that cake first. There is a big birthday party happening and they ordered that and some small pastries as well. We have five dozen to box up. Now after that you can bake some of the other pastries we need."

"Awesome I can't wait. I will get this ready to go out. Then I will work on the next group. When will the cake be picked up?"

"We have an hour before it will be picked up. Once you get this boxed start the baking. Once that's all done we can decorate."

Thirty-five minutes later we were done with all of the orders then Edith came over to me.

"Come on girl let's decorate. Start by hanging up the lights. I will have the tree up in a minute. Then we can put up the tinsel."

In no time at all we had the tree up and lights placed then we started getting the tinsel in place. It was the tinsel that was over the door that I was having trouble with. As I was trying to get some of it over the corner of the door the door opened. Who ever walked in hit my step stool and I started falling over. I closed my eyes as I started falling I was prepared to hit the floor but instead I felt strong arms wrap around me. Edith comes running over to us and looking over at me then at the man holding me then she starts talking.

"Ellen are you okay? Mathew thank you for keeping her from getting hurt. Ellen can you get the cake and pastries together please."

While they were talking I looked at the guys who stopped me from falling. He is a big man, I would have to say somewhere around six foot tall. He is very well built, no fat anywhere all muscle. He has beautiful blue eyes and long black hair. He has it up in a ponytail. His fingers are long and thin. You would call them piano hands. Remembering his arms around me had me sweating. I snap out of my daze and turn to get things ready.

I go get everything together and start bringing things out. When I walk back in the room Edith and Mathew are talking in a corner as three more guys are waiting at the door. I put the cake down and go back for the rest. Once I bring out the rest of the pastries Edith is done talking to Mathew and giving the other guys instructions as to how to move the cake. Then Mathew takes the boxes from me. After they take the boxes and put things away Mathew comes back in to pay for the pastries. After he pays he comes over and apologizes for knocking me off the steps. Then he invites me to the party tonight. He tells me he will pick me up at six and walks out the door.
