Bid on the necklace

Orlando POV.

After the music started, I stepped in and led Elizabeth on a slow glide onto the dance floor.

Miraculously, Elizabeth was a completely different person when she entered the dance floor.

At this moment, she was incredibly confident, elegant, and beautiful, like a queen living inside an English palace.

I couldn't help but start to be surprised from the moment she started dancing her first step.

Not only because of her skillfulness but also because her dance was so beautiful that all eyes were on her.

Her movements were light and fluid, and many difficult moves were performed to perfection.

She looked like an angel who had accidentally fallen to earth with a soft glow around her, dancing with abandon in a place full of flowers.

When the music stopped, there was thunderous applause as everyone clapped and cheered for her dance.

" Elizabeth, you've given me a big surprise." I looked at her with a smile.

A big surprise indeed.

I never thought a female doctor who couldn't even pay her mother's medical bills would be able to do such a difficult international dance.

It seems that she's hiding a lot of secrets that I don't know about.

Interesting.

Her cheeks flushed slightly from the strenuous exercise, and she struggled to calm her panting as she raised her face to look at me.

"I told you I wouldn't let you down." She said calmly.

I gave a satisfied smile.

After the opening dance, the auction, the main event of the charity gala, began.

Everyone entered the auction hall in order according to their pre-arranged positions.

Given my status, my place was definitely in the front row, and Elizabeth sat next to me as my female companion.

There's really nothing I want to buy for this auction.

If there's something I want, all I have to do is ask and someone will bring it to me right away, there's no need for me to come here and auction it off myself.

Elizabeth's eyes kept moving with the jewelry or antiques on display on the stage, looking interested in them.

Especially when a pink diamond-studded necklace was displayed on stage, she didn't take her eyes off it at all.

I tilted my head slightly and leaned closer to her to whisper an inquiry, "What? Like it a lot?"

She shook her head in a panic as if suddenly awakened, "No, no, I was ... just thinking about something."

I could tell she was trying her hardest to hide what she was really thinking, but instead of poking her, I just nodded slightly and stopped talking.

At this point, the pink diamond necklace was up for auction.

The starting bid is $800,000 and will increase by $100,000 with each bidder's raise.

The necklace didn't look very special, so not many people participated in the bidding.

There were a few bidders at first, but when the price was called at one million three hundred thousand, there was only one bidder left.

That's Elizabeth's ex-boyfriend, Jason, the guy I just taught a lesson to.

I noticed it from the first time he held up his card.

With each additional bidder, he became a little more nervous and immediately raised his bid afterward.

Until the price was raised to one million two hundred thousand, he still insisted on raising his hand by one hundred thousand.

I purposely asked my assistant to gather all the relevant information on Jason and found out that he came to the party for the purpose of this necklace.

Recently, Jason has been trying to work with a large client who is eccentric and has refused to accept his visits. He has a hard time learning that this client's wife is a jewelry collector hobbyist, and the pink diamond necklace being auctioned on stage is one of the items the lady wants from her collection.

As long as Jason auctioned the necklace, he could easily handle the lady, and his cooperation with that client would be half successful. Once the cooperation was successfully concluded, he could gain a huge profit, and the one million and three hundred thousand dollars for auctioning the necklace was nothing at all

In the business world, this is the most common tactic if you want to close a certain partnership.

Jason couldn't contain his joy when he realized he was the only bidder in the field, his face covered in triumph.

I hooked the corners of my mouth slightly, intending to make this plan of Jason's a little more difficult.

"Does anyone else want to bid on this necklace?"

At this point, the host asked loudly from the stage.

I casually held up the sign in my hand, "Two million."

The price I offered made the scene start to boil up instantly.
