Drones

Ein welcomed the hug before lowering herself to get a good look at the girl. "Pippa, how are you feeling? Are you still taking the medicine that Auntie Tristan gave you?"

Pippa nodded her head excitedly. "I have! Her medicine is not as bad as the other things I had to take!"

Upon hearing that she had taken the medicine, Ein looked pleased and patted the head of Pippa. "Where is your father?"

Pippa blinked behind her triangle-shaped shades. "Daddy is still in the middle of an experiment."

Ein let out a sigh. "Alright. I will play with you for a little while until he comes out."

Pippa showed a lot of joy on her face as she raised her fist toward the sky in celebration. "Yay!"

Pippa had come to like how things had become recently and how she was given such attention and care.

It could be said that the effects from their homeland did leave their mark even if they were not terminally ill.

When they arrived on Egghead Island, Quinn brought her to get treated at a couple of local places but not all of the people in the area who had that type of expertise were skilled enough to let them make a full recovery and properly diagnose their body.

Quinn quickly became absorbed in his work as he worked like he was possessed to come up with a way to counteract the issue back in his homeland and to find a solution to the states of their bodies.

It was not long after then that he ran into Ein who appeared to be quite sickly looking in terms of appearance so he couldn't help but want to look out for her.

Perhaps it was due to the loss of his wife who looked quite similar before he had to leave her behind that he paid more attention to Ein.

He could not take care of his wife and bring her away with him due to her poor state so he had a lot of regrets about that.

Quinn was one of the few people in that district to learn about the problem before it would become far more deadly but it had already affected many others.

Unfortunately, it was already too late to learn what was behind his wife growing so unwell but it was already quite lucky that he and his daughter had been able to avoid deeper exposure to it.

The chances of his wife being alive were very low so he had many regrets related to her.

It could be said that he had a lot of unresolved feelings and that had triggered a more nurturing side of him that made him approach Ein.

A part of those feelings he had was projected onto her as he wanted to approach her and take care of her.

That was where their relationship began but for Pippa, she had undergone various hardships and trials as she adjusted to the changes and losses.

Her father was less like a father to her and was more like a teacher while he was quite busy a lot of the time.

She was either learning or playing alone but she was able to encounter new people who came into her life.

Pippa was very happy to have more company and to have her life undergo such changes.

Her father had brightened up and she had gained Ein who paid her a lot of attention so it could be said that her life was looking better than before and she was able to become slightly more cheerful too.

More time passed as Ein got closer to the family of two and the project continued to progress further.

The scenery changed as a ship was far off in the distance but it was close enough to get a good view of the island off in the distance.

Several large structures seemed to stand out the most from afar and they looked quite similar to windmills that kept rotating.

On the other side of the island was a thick colorful fog that seemed to be kept away from the side that had the large windmills.

The fog looked to be quite dangerous yet something on the ship began to lift off into the sky and flew into it.

The thing that flew there had an appearance that was almost similar to some form of bird or drone.

It began to fly inside before settling down in the thicker part of the fog where it was the most concentrated.

More followed it inside before settling down in other spots then there was a small suction that came from each of them that caused some of it to be stored.

When they were full, they lifted higher until they flew outside of the fog and settled down back on the ship. "Safe retrieval is a success."

Ein stood near them and smiled. "Good job collection drones. Now the relief drones will begin your mission."

The next drones that left the ship began to scan all around the fog and search all over for living people.

After some life signs were detected, they began dropping small packages that would be helpful toward letting the remaining living hold on.

Most contained gas masks and suits to protect them while there was a small sealed box that contained uncontaminated water and food.

There was a little medicine in there too that could help them keep themselves alive for a little while longer.

Things were beginning to progress further in many other places whether it was related to those events or not.
