Chapter 21: Stop Playing Mind Games with Me (2)

Percy Stanton turned his head and saw his son muttering while searching for the right pinyin to type his message. His buttocks, which hadn't entirely left the sofa, sank back down once more. Although Raymond Thompson was only five years old, he already knew many characters. After he quickly finished his message, he eagerly added Isabel as a friend and, clutching his phone, nervously waited for Sister Isabel's response.

...

Isabel Smith was alone on the balcony and couldn't help but feel a little bored, so she took out her mobile phone and casually browsed through Facebook. Suddenly, she felt her phone vibrate and saw that it was a WhatsApp message. She opened it without really thinking, not expecting it to be a friend request.

Isabel unconsciously wanted to ignore it, but when she saw the words "Raymond Thompson," her fingers paused, and she quickly thought of the handsome and likable young man who had come to her house to borrow the restroom.

Without any hesitation, Isabel immediately added Raymond as a friend and even sent a message: "Handsome Young Man Raymond, are you still awake?"

Raymond first received Isabel's acceptance of his friend request, which delighted him. Then he saw the words "Handsome Young Man" and his face went slightly red. Holding his mobile phone, he quickly sent a message to Isabel, saying, "I can't sleep."

Thinking that the message was too simple, Raymond stared at the screen for a while before writing another message, trying to start a conversation, "Sister Isabel, can't you sleep either? What are you doing?"

As Raymond was about to send it, Percy Stanton interrupted, pointing to the "sleep" character on the mobile phone screen, "Wrong character, it's not written like this."

Raymond looked up, glared at his father, then turned around with his mobile phone, facing his father with his back, changed the character from "sleep" to "who," and only then did he send the WhatsApp message.

Not long after, Raymond's phone "ding-dong" rang, and Percy reflexively looked over. Raymond turned his head defensively to look at Percy, fearing he would peek at his chat with Sister Isabel. He held his phone warily and crawled a good distance along the sofa before carefully opening the message and protecting it in his arms, reading Isabel's reply while giggling to himself. He continued to send messages to Isabel while carefully checking for typos.

Percy's face darkened seeing his son's behavior. After Raymond finished sending a few more messages, he calmly commanded, "Raymond, time to take a bath and go to bed."

Raymond reluctantly looked at the time, then said goodbye to Isabel before reluctantly getting off the sofa.

As Percy bathed Raymond, Raymond remembered the "who" typo in the first message he sent to Isabel and couldn't help but feel uneasy. He sat in the children's bathtub, looking at Percy rubbing shampoo on his head, and asked, "Father, I made a typo in the first WhatsApp message I sent to Sister Isabel. Do you think it will affect the impression I leave on her heart?"

Percy had already been irritated by Isabel tonight, and now that his son mentioned her name again, his hands scrubbing Raymond's head added some force, causing the shower gel foam to splash everywhere. Accidentally, some even splashed onto his lips. Frowning, Percy replied half-heartedly, "I don't know."

Hearing Percy say this, Raymond suddenly became nervous and asked his father with a serious expression, "Father, then tell me, how much will this one typo affect my impression on Sister Isabel's heart?"
