She had become accustomed to Percy's frequent outbursts of anger, so she simply turned her head and stopped speaking.

The car drove silently to the parking lot below the apartment building. Percy's expression remained grim, not giving Isabel even a glance, quickly picking up the packages from the back seat, locking the car, and heading for the elevator.

Fortunately, there were a few other people in the elevator, so Isabel felt that the atmosphere between them was less awkward. As they reached their floor, as soon as the elevator door opened, Isabel saw Raymond Thompson waiting at the elevator entrance.

Raymond had already called Percy, knowing that he was on his way home, so he was kicking a leather ball while waiting for Percy in the corridor.

Unexpectedly, the elevator door opened, and Raymond saw Isabel before he saw Percy. He immediately dropped the ball in his hand and clung to Isabel, calling her sweetly, "Sister Isabel."
