Isabel's lower body's sticky discomfort had become fresh and comfortable, and her mood had improved along with it. She lay in the hospital bed, embracing the quilt, and watched Percy Stanton carry the basin of water he had used to clean her body to the restroom and come back out.

It was only after Percy had tidied everything up that he realized Isabel had been watching him the whole time. Furrowing his brow, he walked over to her and asked with a touch of concern, "Is something bothering you?"

Isabel shook her head and sank further into the quilt.

Percy raised his hand to pull the curtain closed, blocking the bright light from outside the window, then turned back to Isabel and said softly, "Rest a bit."

His voice was gentle, with a hint of a coaxing tone, causing Isabel to feel slightly intoxicated as she nodded and obediently closed her eyes.
