Percy Stanton paid no attention to Isabel Smith's voice. Instead, he raised his hand and gently lifted her long hair, viewed the raw, reddened patch on her neck that had been scalded by the medication. He understood everything instantly, frowned, gently touched the spot, and asked with unbounded remorse, "Does it hurt?"
"It hurts." Isabel responded immediately without any hesitation.
Percy became even more guilty at once.
Only then did Isabel give a faint smile: "But, it doesn't hurt now."
Percy still sincerely apologized to Isabel: "I'm sorry, what happened at noon wasn't intentional."
She stopped being angry a while back, but seeing his sincere apology now, a hint of sweetness emerged in the bottom of Isabel's heart.
Unfazed, Isabel rubbed her neck and said, "It's fine, it will heal in a few days."
