Chapter 248: Mom

Qin Jie: "Should I agree?"

Chen Enci took two steps forward, his voice languid as he said, "Up to you."

A cold look passed through Qin Jie's eyes. Without a word, he silently followed Chen Enci.

The streets were tranquil late at night. A stray cat darted along the road, dashing past the two of them and issuing a tiny "meow".

Qin Jie watched the shadow of the cat disappearing into the bushes, sudden bitterness overwhelming him, "Alright, I'll agree."

Chen Enci simply responded with a low "mm."

Qin Jie: "After all, you've asked me so many times, ignoring you this much would seem rather rude."

Chen Enci gave another noncommittal "mm".

Qin Jie felt as though he was punching into cotton, ineffectual and increasingly resentful. He didn't utter another word thereafter, and she, too, kept quiet in an uncharacteristic manner.

Upon reaching home, Qin Jie tossed his keys onto the shoe cabinet, changed into slippers, and went straight into the master bedroom.
