She walked from one side of the room to the other uncomfortable, despite having lived there for a little more than a week, everything was still strange and she wasn't used to it. She had been awake for a while now, she had already taken a shower and was in one of the sports suits she used to wear before in her own house. Her belly had grown slightly, but fortunately she could still avail herself of these.
She grumbled in her mind when the alarm that it was time for her vitamins went off and although she had a glass of water at hand, these were not indicated to take on an empty stomach. So he took a deep breath before opening the bedroom door and heading for the stairs, on the way to the kitchen so she could have breakfast.
"Mrs. Tenten, good morning."
"I told you it's just Tenten," she was only 18 years old and being called like that not only made her feel 40, but she didn't like it.
"Are you going to breakfast?"
"Please."
There was a small dining table with a couple of chairs and like every morning since she had been there, she sat in this one to wait. It was the place for the serving staff to eat, but she felt lonely and silly at the huge dining room, so she preferred to eat there where she could at least watch Yuuki cook or organize something.
"Thank you," she said as soon as the plate was put in front of her.
Because yes, she was living in the huge property without Kiba, which was completely horrible to her. The Sunday after the wedding they had gone there and that was the issue that was pending, her moving in. She had thought she would move into the apartment but Tsume was emphatic that her son was in his last semester of university and couldn't have any major distractions, she then asked to stay at her parents' house, period.
Her husband, on the other hand, argued for something much more real and that was practicality, although she could go with him to the apartment, because of his studies he wasn't there in the mornings, plus they were worried that a possible emergency would occur and she would be alone, also that it would not be good to constantly travel for prenatal appointments and, finally there was the issue that in the citadel only had a doctor's office with limited capacity, it was better that there was a real clinic nearby.
She couldn't believe that Kiba was on his mother's side on that, she again insisted on staying with her parents, she would be in the city and an ambulance could arrive quickly if need be. But then again, she would be alone most of the day and there was the issue of diet, which was something the department also had against it, while they could bring all the food to the house for her, she didn't know how to cook it properly so it would limit the options a bit. On the property there were always servants who could look after her, they would take care of her food and the clinic was only five minutes away.
She reluctantly agreed and pouted as soon as they were alone, she didn't want to live in that place. The Inuzuka promised her that he would still travel to take her to all her medical appointments in person and on Fridays, as soon as he got out of class, he would be there to accompany her and spend the weekend together.
The worst thing was that she wasn't allowed to do anything, just pour herself a glass of water, but if she wanted something more elaborate to drink, Yuuki or Narumi, the other maid who was also in charge of the kitchen and dining room, would arrive and prepare whatever she asked for. They didn't let her wash anything and she had been surprised to see that even if she made the bed it was made again and the laundry basket one day was empty and the next day everything was neatly folded in the part of the closet that Kiba had cleared for her.
Although well, she had resigned herself and continued what she was doing in her life before the news of her pregnancy and all the changes that had come with it, and that was to continue studying languages on her own. In the huge library she had found some books that could be of use to her and Kiba had explained to her how to use the different functions of the television, being able to look up different videos that were useful to her.
And so it went on for a couple of weeks, their marriage had been made known in public at the birthday gathering held for Hana at the property, she had worn the dress Kiba had bought her to go to the fancy restaurant on her own birthday and it had been appropriate both for being suitable and for being loose fitting and that her belly that was now really starting to grow had been disguised that way. Kiba waved and introduced her to everyone, laughing spontaneously every time they told him that he had her hidden and that he had decided to take the plunge without telling anyone, they smiled together as they replied that such was love.
The 5th month was beginning and already came with the good news that she was no longer bordering the lower percentile but was already in the middle and rising a little, she had been forbidden the excess of salt since the first visit and fortunately now she didn't need it, which showed that indeed the baby inside her was growing properly. But that also meant that her condition was now showing and her clothes were too tight if not too small.
She had been watching some videos on how she could modify it to make it bigger but she needed some implements and for that she had to talk to her husband, but she knew he was in exams and deadline time. So she used to wear the pants whose elastic couldn't stretch any further and some of the t-shirts he had in the closet.
"What do you think you are doing?" It was Tsume's voice that broke her concentration that afternoon and she just changed the way she was sitting so that she could see her while thinking that she thought she was doing nothing wrong.
"The doctor recommended me to start prenatal yoga," and she had found lots of videos about it in French, so it was an excellent opportunity to keep practicing.
"You're sitting wrong," she blinked slowly, "you have to balance the weight of your belly with a cushion underneath so you can have a straight spine." With confident steps the woman entered the room and took one of the cushions, leaving it on the floor next to her for her to use. She stood up a little to do as she was told, noticing that she did indeed feel better settled. "You shouldn't be on the floor, either."
"It's a rug..."
"There are special things for this," she remained silent. "And when are you going to stop walking around the house dressed like that? It's time to wear things that fit you."
"I don't have any more clothes..." she clarified in a low voice and got no answer, the woman had left the room.
Normally Tsume didn't usually address her unless Kiba was present, and sometimes not even then, so she had found that verbal exchange particularly strange. Choosing to better continue on with her exercises, the cushion under her butt definitely helped.
The next day while she was eating some fruits in the kitchen as a snack, she heard the front door open and Akina, one of the servants who was in charge of the cleaning and was something like the housekeeper, greeted someone, explaining that the room was the fourth on the left.
She was curious because that was undoubtedly Kiba's room and as soon as she finished her snack break she went to see what it was about, inside next to the sofa they had left several packages and when she opened them she found all the implements that used to be in the yoga videos and that she had managed to replace them, including the mat. She didn't know what to think about it, because it was clear to her that it was her mother-in-law who had taken care of it.
The afternoon was in the middle when there was a new surprise, Kiba was there and she ran to him, he looked haggard which showed that he wasn't sleeping well probably because of one of the projects he was working on, it was the penultimate deadline and then it would be a month or so for the final so he was fully involved in it and she was surprised that he had traveled during the week without having a scheduled medical appointment.
"I'm sorry sweetie, I completely forgot you needed to go shopping," was his explanation and again she was shocked. Had Tsume called him to tell him about the clothes? "Come on, let's go."
"Do you want to get some sleep first? You look exhausted."
"Don't worry, first your thing and then we can take advantage of the fact that I came all the way here. Tomorrow I don't have the first class so I can stay," she blushed but nodded, that was one of the few cravings she had been given so far and it was also a pity that they didn't sleep together.
The store was huge and there were all kinds of pregnancy clothes, from fancy dresses, to underwear, to everyday wear and pajamas. With her increasing breast size, she couldn't stand any of her bras anymore so that was her first stop. Should she look at the price? Ask Kiba what the budget limit was and choose accordingly? He just mentioned to pick whatever she wanted and to keep in mind that she was going to keep growing, choosing in turn some bras that he said would look good on her.
She chose several baggy dresses that were a little long but counting how much she would grow probably by the ninth month they would fit slightly above the knee, she also chose sportswear and for sleeping she opted for some nightgowns as they also had the advantage of being adaptable and only shortening as she increased in size.
She bit her lip thinking it might be too much and thought about returning some things when they were at the checkout but before doing so, he paid for everything and they went to dinner together at tsukune's place, that didn't exactly fit in her diet but this one wasn't as strict as before and she could afford a treat for that night. They bought a couple of brochettes for Hana and finally it was time to go to bed.
.
His wedding ring hadn't gone unnoticed, although no one asked him directly, he only heard the rumors in the hallways accompanied by the fact that his profile picture on the messaging app had been changed to one of him with his beautiful wife on their wedding day. He loved that whoever took it captured the exact moment when the two of them were smiling having said that yes and in the lead-up to the first kiss. The image fulfilled his mother's absurd requirement of only them looking in there and so he could use it, but well, what he liked most was that Tenten wore the same one.
On Hana's birthday he held hands with the brunette and laughed when he said that his marriage had been that way or his mother would never have approved, which was a great irony when everything had been organized by his mother, but anyway, the important thing is that they had finally let the cat out of the bag and although he obviously heard whispers about a probable pregnancy to decide that way, he heard nothing about her age or where she came from. As said, her last name made her one of them and the fact that she wore a ring like that left no doubt that she belonged to the place.
He knew that his wife wasn't happy with having to live in the property and he usually tried to call her and be attentive to cheer her up, the problem was that the university was approaching the peak and he had to concentrate if he didn't want to fail any subject and have to do another semester. Besides, after spending his first night as husband and wife in the hotel where his mother-in-law worked, he could understand why it was declining and had changed part of his project in the economic planning class to choose it as a company and propose new strategies to improve it, it had been almost a suicide to do it and it had taken him several nights almost passing by.
If it went well he hoped to be able to acquire the hotel and make the necessary changes, despite the place where they lived, Tenten's parents were proud so if he offered them money they would reject it outright, so trying to improve their working conditions without them knowing it directly was better.
He knew he was supposed to go shopping with Tenten but it had simply slipped his mind, until that call from his progenitor to yell at him over the phone, the least he had to do was to make sure his wife looked like someone of her social standing, not walking around like the beggar she was. She forced him to marry, insisted that the brunette live under her domain, and was aware of the results of every medical consultation, but that didn't mean she appreciated her or cared about what she did.
That's why he'd had to go home on a Wednesday, reading the email about not having the next day's first class in the morning he'd counted on getting a couple more hours of sleep, but instead he'd have to spend that time driving. Of course it was worth it though, being able to spend the night with Tenten made it worth it.
"Do you feel that?" They were lying without clothes on and she still a little flushed had excitedly put his hand on her belly and he tried to concentrate on any movement under it.
"No," he admitted
"Really?" he denied, "our baby is moving more and more and it feels... curious, I like it."
"What do you feel?"
"It's like a fluttering, like it's flapping its wings underneath."
"The wings? are you saying we're expecting a bat instead of a baby?" Tenten's laughter was heard in the room, "or is it a dragon?" there was more laughter, but she didn't answer. "I hope I can feel it too, hopefully it doesn't have claws."
"Have you thought about what you would prefer it to be?"
"Not much, I just know that if it's a girl I hope she looks like you and not like me." Tenten smiled, "although there's something wrong if we have a daughter."
"What's that?"
"I'm not going to let anyone get close to her, if she's as beautiful as you I'm going to have to take suitors away from her all the time."
"I've never had any suitors."
"That may explain why you paid attention to me, if you had other options you would have realized how boring I am," now they started laughing together. "What do you think?"
"I think it's a boy... it's..." she bit her lip, "I don't know, I could be wrong."
"You are, it's a dragon." He assured seriously and they smiled again before deciding that it was time to sleep
The fifth month ultrasound should have told them exactly if it was a boy or a girl, but the creature in Tenten's belly had decided not to lend itself to the task and the doctor couldn't give them an answer, so they would repeat it the following week trusting that they would now have a verdict on the matter.
.
Her prediction had been right, the baby in her womb was a boy and it made her happy that she was able to 'feel' that. She had completely ignored the first trimester of her pregnancy, she liked the fact that she had time and was doing everything she could to connect with the little one inside her now. For example every morning and every night as she applied the moisturizer that had been formulated for her and felt it move. She had seen on the internet a device that connected some kind of headphones directly to her belly to play music for the baby and she told Kiba about it with excitement, so the next day she had it at the door of the house.
During the day she went about her normal activities and at night before going to sleep she put the player on with soft music, enjoying the movements underneath. Her husband said that he had seemed to feel something, but very light, insisting that if it was wings what was inside there was a dragon, he even looked on the phone for the ultrasound video and stopped it at the right moment that according to him could see the shape and how the claws were coming out. She laughed as she listened to him, she liked the joy that the Inuzuka showed every time they talked about their child, they hadn't planned it but they had both fully assumed their role as excited first-time parents.
"Have you chosen a name yet?" asked Hana while they were having dinner in the dining room.
"Not yet, we are waiting for my exams to finish and once I'm settled back we will think about it calmly." Kiba had only one week left to finish the semester and the career.
"That is not your father's name," mumbled Tsume without seeing them.
"Of course not, it hadn't even occurred to me," he dismissed at once and the woman's brow furrowed, she just tried not to laugh at the reaction. "But as I said, we'll think about it when I come back
"You should go to the company too, it's important that you bond as soon as possible. I'm sick of the current finance director."
"It will do him a lot of good to know that your son with no work experience is going to keep his job."
"He has always known that his position was temporary until your graduation."
"I will graduate in August," Hana and she just listened to the verbal exchange without having an opinion, "that's a few more months away."
"Nonsense, you have to soak up the company and make a splice in the meantime."
"Are you implying that I'll be in the office on Monday of the week after the exams?"
"Of course."
"I'm sorry you're making plans without consulting me, but with Tenten we have the parenting course, we also want to look for the house to move into and I want to spend my birthday in peace," the colors rose to the woman's face and she for her part didn't want to ask about the house, although she definitely liked the prospect of knowing they would be moving. "Second week of July what do you say?"
"That you always do whatever you want, if that son is yours you better not spoil him as your father did with you."
That was the end of the conversation and soon Kiba and Hana began to talk about the university, complaining each one about the exams and how much they needed to get out of it, although in the case of the younger one she was just finishing her first semester so she still had a long way to go. They ate dessert, which in her case was just some granola and fruit with yogurt, and after that they retired to the room to watch a movie, it was Saturday night so the next day her husband would return to campus, the good thing was that it was the last time he would leave.
"Kiba..."
"Tell me sweetie"
"What did you mean by looking for a house to move into?"
"To the fact that we will leave here as soon as possible, I don't know about you, but I have enough to know that I will work for my mother to also live with her."
"B..."
"Besides I got used to some independence by having my separate apartment, don't you want to leave?" he made a funny expression and touched her nose. "Do you already love my mother?" they both laughed at that idea. "I'm sure we'll find a nice place for the three of us, coincidentally a few streets from here yesterday I saw a sign for a property available"
"How much is a rent in this neighborhood?" the possible answer frightened her, she didn't want to think about the times she had seen her parents reached and what they were paying for sure was very little in comparison.
"I don't know, but the idea is to buy," of course, she must have guessed that and she was a little amazed at the ease with which he could say that. "Is something wrong?"
"Nothing, nothing, it's just that there are things I still can't get used to," he nodded before kissing her.
"Nothing will ever be lacking for our son, neither for you."
