Wrath of an Angel

Vanessa flew low, just barely above the treetops as she scanned the area for the remaining unbound. She had seen the damage Kye had inflicted on the bodies that he left on the path. The wounds on their bodies ranged from calculated to frantic, she could discern that Kye was fighting hard just to survive towards the end by the viciousness of the attacks. There was no mercy given, no strategy besides ending the fight as quickly as he could.

'Still, managing to kill six grown adults with combat experience is very impressive. Master is talented, I am sure when he grows up he will become a very renowned warrior.'

Her thoughts wandered until she saw a small light appear between the gaps in the trees. She lowered her speed and approached slowly, hovering in the air behind a tree close by. Surrounding the light were six figures dressed in black with varying weapons among them. The one holding the source of light had an ornate scabbard with an elegant sword within and two gold bracers on either wrist, signifying some level of authority among the group. He began speaking as the others gathered around the source of light.

"We've been here for the last four days and while we have no confirmation of the Urwani bitch even being here. Now, we're down six members and are cut off from the main force so things are looking bad. We're going to march directly down the path with all six of us if it's beasts the six of us will be able to deal with it and if it isn't we have a better chance. Form up, we're moving out."

"I don't think you will be."

Vanessa's voice interrupted their meeting and all of the figures drew their weapons as they saw her float down from the sky. They all gawked at her appearance, a being with wings and such beauty could only be a servant of a god. The man with the golden braces stepped forward, his sword back in its sheath.

"Who are you, great lady? If our group has somehow offended you or disturbed your rest, we will apologise and compensate you in any way we can!"

"Your sins are something that can only be atoned for with blood. Your dead friends were killed by my young master, who did so to protect his friend, the girl you currently hunt."

Several of the members readied their weapons while trembling at the anger hidden within Vanessa's words.

"Then, we will leave! We won't bother your young master again either, not even for revenge! Just please, let us go great lady!"

Vanessa swung her arm out and golden chains sprung from the ground, entangling the six Unbound. They squirmed and struggled under the taught pressure of the golden chains that appeared from nowhere.

"My young master was heavily wounded in his skirmish with your friends. A child of just nine years old killed six of you? You are less than important, you are the mere dirt on this land. It is time you joined your friends, however, I will not let you go peacefully. Your sins demand you suffer. I will be your judge and I find you beyond guilty."

"WHAT SINS?! THAT WE DARED HURT A PERSON WHO KILLED SIX OF OUR FRIENDS?! YOU ARE INSANE!"

Vanessa flicked her wrist and a gold chain wrapped itself around the man's mouth, gagging him.

"Who are you to question a goddess's will? You are less than qualified, nay, you will never be qualified to talk about my master in such a disgusting manner! I resent the fact that he chose the girl you hunt over his personal safety but it is not my job to question his judgement. He deems the girl his friend and asked me to protect her, the easiest way to do that is to eliminate the threat. Your fate was sealed the moment you crossed paths with my master. Now be silent as my flames deliver you to the underworld."

Vanessa clicked her fingers and summoned a pure white flame that burned brightly in her hand. She threw it at the man yet he did not catch fire. Instead, the chains that bound him began to heat up rapidly, searing the man's flesh all over. His muffled screams could be heard despite the chains wrapping his mouth also heating up and melting his lips. Steam rose off his body and into the air as the water in his body boiled, cooking him from the inside. Despite the agonising pain that coursed through his body, the man could not die as the chains prevented him from slipping into the comfort of death as if they were healing him just to prolong his torture.

He screamed for minutes until his voice was completely gone, his body surged with more pain as time progressed. He felt his eyeballs swell under the rising steam within his body, threatening to burst from his skull at any moment. He desperately tried to fall asleep and die yet the chains would not let him, they made him cling to life miserably as the agonising torture never ceased. After several more minutes, the man's eyes burst in a spray of gore and viscera, upon when the chains that held him relented and slipped out of reality, back to wherever Vanessa conjured them. His charred corpse, now unrecognisable began falling to pieces and disintegrated into dust that was carried off by the wind.

Vanessa turned her cold gaze to the five who remained, who were also gagged and struggling against her chains. They looked at her with dead eyes as they knew their lives were about to end similarly. Vanessa clicked her fingers and five balls of white fire hovered around her head.

"I cannot afford the time to all watch you suffer one by one, so you will have to do so together. I have to get back to my master and help his recovery. Now, suffer for your sins."

She waved her hand and a ball of white fire hit each of them. Their muffled screams echoed through the silent forest. Vanessa's eyes remained cold as she watched them suffer.

'With this, master's request is completed and I have relieved some of these feelings of frustration. I will have to inform mother of today's events.'

She sighed inwardly as she anticipated the conversation with Alayah, completely ignoring the suffering of the Unbound.

'I hope she doesn't do anything rash...'
