Chapter 2 - Mysterious Night (2)

Being Harsya's wife and spending time together until we are old is what I dream of most in my life. I love him so much. Harsya is handsome and popular, he is also smart and skilled, but the most important thing for me is that he loves me very much and cares for me very much.

"Nightshift... I miss you too," I replied.

"Who is your partner ?"

"Ali," I replied in an annoyed tone.

"He's not pestering you, is he?"

"Hopefully, there's nothing that makes us have to fuss,"

Harsya and I immediately got involved in the conversation. Harsya knows my relationship with Ali very well because he always worries about me when I'm with Ali. Not long after, Harsya ended the call because Harsya didn't want to disturb me, who was in charge.

Time was creeping up late. After checking the condition of the patients one by one, giving injections, and replacing the patient's infusions that were about to run out, Ms. Anya and Ms. Atikah got ready to sleep on the mats they were holding while Bro Indra was still chatting with Ali. Actually, I already felt my sleepiness, but I forced myself to stay awake.

I pulled my jacket closer after feeling the cold night air. The air blew from the open space in the middle of the ward in front of the nurse's station. In the middle of the ward, there is a beautiful koi fish pond and a small garden, seen directly from the nurse's room.

Brother Indra followed his two colleagues a few moments later, preparing to sleep. I finish my report while Ali is busy with his laptop, typing something with earbuds in both ears. Suddenly I was interested in observing him even though secretly, actually Ali was quite handsome, no wonder many girls at our university were after him. If only he weren't fussy and annoying, maybe I could consider him one of my idols, eh?

Suddenly Ali looked back at me, and maybe he knew I was watching him. I immediately snorted and looked away from him.

"If you want to see it, watch it. You don't have to hide it. It's just that there are consequences. You can fall in love," Ali laughed not too loudly for fear of disturbing the sleep of the nurses who were on duty.

"Huh," I snorted. Who wants to fall in love with him? Just looking at his face is already very lazy.

"You know." Ali seriously involved His face, the smile on his face missing somewhere.

I didn't respond, and I was lazy to talk to him. I was just wondering why Airin liked him so much.

The night was getting late. Finally, I couldn't hold back my sleep, my head fell on the table in my arms, and I fell asleep.

"Ding!" Suddenly the bell rang from one of the patient rooms. I looked at the light panel to see which room patients needed help.

The bell sound from one of the patient's rooms immediately woke me up from my deep sleep. I immediately lifted my head from the table and looked at the light panel to determine which patient in the room needed help.

"Room nine," I muttered, glancing at Ali, who was also awake.

Still sleepy, I looked for the patient's medical record in room nine but couldn't find it. I suddenly remembered no patients in room nine, aka empty. I suspected that a patient might come when I fell asleep earlier. I saw Ali had got up from his seat and walked towards room nine. I immediately stood up and walked hastily behind Ali.

I feel something strange with the atmosphere tonight makes my heart beat faster. The night feels frozen, the wind is getting colder, and the sound is ear-piercing. The sound of splashing water in the koi pond sounded so clear to my ears. Several patient guards, who were usually in front of each room and chatted, were not involved the night. As I walked, I looked at the clock in my hand, showing zero two zero three in the morning. I quickly quickened my pace towards Ali because I felt goosebumps all over my body with this silence.

Ali and I entered room number nine and immediately headed for the patient bed from different sides. We saw a middle-aged woman lying there weakly without anyone waiting, and her beautiful face looked very pale. The woman forced a smile at both of us. We greeted him almost at the same time. Ali asked what the mother was complaining about while I checked the IV in her left hand, flowing smoothly.

The middle-aged woman had coughed several times, and she asked us to help her sit up. We swiftly helped the woman sit up against the headboard. She didn't say anything for a long time, and she turned looked at us after that. She took Ali's hand and mine and then joined it in hers.
