The Undertaker

While Drake was investigating on his own, Uncle John was using his connections in Frozen City. It didn't take long for him to find the 'culprit'.

The Undertaker was indeed a necromancer. He had been quiet until now, and lived a peaceful life after losing his left arm in the last war. He never expected his true identity as a wandering acolyte to be known by Moundir Yale, who was a deep friend of his, or by the Mayor.

He had been framed for crimes he didn't commit, and now a hunting dog was in front of him.

John Moonfall.

Most didn't know this name. After all, John was just a beginner acolyte.

However, the Undertaker had witnessed John's strength in the last territorial war. John had killed a beginner acolyte who could wield three rank 0 fire spells by himself. Although he was injured in the process, John had a lot of experience, and his shadow bolts were deeply engraved in the Undertaker's memories.

"Please, John Moonfall! You must believe me! I am not the one who committed the crimes you accuse me of"

However, John only laughed: "Look at yourself. I already more than twenty skeletons of yours, and you dare tell me that you are not the necromancer who rampaged on the Moonfall fief? Since when did necromancers become so numerous that two of them would share the same hunting grounds? Necromancers are secretive, and they would never befriend other acolytes on their own"

John's words held some truth. Most necromancers would never interact with other acolytes. They were the worst of all. After all, negative energy increased their tendency to murder and be angered.

The undertaker bit his lips. He, too, had planned on committing some atrocities and frame Moundir Yale. By using human lives, necromancers could indeed become much stronger. As long as they weren't caught afterwards, it wasn't strange for a necromancer to break through by using one blood bath. Only this time, Moundir had been faster than him.

"Moundir Yale did-", the undertaker tried to shout

However, a spear hit his chest before he could finish his sentence.

The Guard's captain, followed by 10 soldiers, had arrived.

"Thank you, John, for finding the culprit. I am sorry if I offended you by following you, but I felt it necessary to bring back up in case you needed it. The culprit has been apprehended. You can claim your reward in the Town's Hall if you would like. We appreciate the Moonfall's contributions deeply"

John squinted.

Something felt fishy.

He could not find what it was, but the undertaker never admitted to his crime and his last words were a name. The Guard Captain's appearance was also very convenient, as if he wanted to silence the acolyte. Yet at the same time, the undertaker was an unregistered wandering acolyte.

Sighing, John noted what happened on a paper, before following the Guard Captain. The man was an experienced knight. Although he didn't trust the man, John felt like he would learn more by going into the town's hall.
