Chapter 28

Hsien Lian turned around, meeting the others' faces. His hair blocked his face from being shown. A bloody smirk was painted on his face however. He smiled at Hsien Lian, an evil one but still. Hsien Lian backed away hesitantly, but Ning Huo grabbed his arm, keeping him close. "If you step out of this circle, your aura will be burned to a crisp." Ning Huo warns.

Hsien Lian glanced behind him, noticing the closeness of the thin line of black, ready to hurt him. Hsien Lian was hesitant, but he slowly nodded. "Are you XingYing?" Hsien Lian asked hesitantly. Ning Huo didn't answer, only looking behind Hsien Lian towards Chao Ju. His dark red eyes held meaning, in the same way XingYing did.

"You won't be able to fight him with just your aura. It's weak, and you are too. Would you like to dao?"

Hsien Lian stared at Ning Huo, confused. It would be amazing if he had it. But he didn't. It was gone, it disappeared. Hsien Lian didn't have it, so why would Ning Huo have it? Ning Huo combed his hand slightly through his hair, showing his face. "I don't want you to die, Hsien Lian."

He gripped a dao from his side, swinging it out of his scaddarb and to his other side, he tossed the sharp object into the air, holding the blade with his gloved hand, the handle pointed for Hsien Lian to grab. The handle was white and blue, small, feather-like blades etched onto the side. Carvings of different Mandarin Taoist phrases engraved on the silver blade.

Hsien Lian hesitantly grabbed the dao, a flood of emotions and memories drowned his previous thoughts. Only two words left his mouth.

"Your back."
