Chapter 58

Hsien Lian stood with his head low. He hadn't said anything to anyone for days. Chen Guo, Fang Hai, and some Nobles have knocked on his door trying to talk, but Hsien Lian didn't answer. He didn't want to talk to anyone. What was there to talk about? The weather? Dynasties? Governments? Hsien Lian didn't want to talk about anything.

But after being held up in his room for too long, Hsien Lian decided he wanted some fresh air. He walked down the halls, going straight to his garden. But for some odd reason, he passed it. Hsien Lian's legs were taking him elsewhere. Making him move, making his walk. Hsien Lian knew where he was going. He had been thinking about this for a while. Thinking about this thought, this idea for a while.

Hsien Lian sighed, walking up to the two golden doors. He knocked lightly, his knocks being heard through the echoing halls. A loud, "Come in." was heard, Hsien Lian taking a moment before stepping inside. He looked down at the floor, seeing the drag of his hanfu in the reflection, not a single speckle of dust. "Hsien Lian, you're back." Tao Wu states gently.

Hsien Lian looks up. He was reading something, once again. Everytime he had walked in, he had seen Tao Wu reading. It was a constant thing. "I would like to get punished." Hsien Lian says, quite proudly. Tao Wu's eyes furrow with concern and doubt. Hsien Lian had a feeling he wouldn't say yes. The prince knew he wouldn't.

"Hsien Lian, you want to get… punished? Why?"

Here we go.

Hsien Lian sucks in a deep breath. "I betrayed Heaven, didn't I? I didn't do as you say, and planned on betraying Heaven. I was going to do the exact opposite, hide Ning Huo. Not take him to where you were. That's betraying Heaven-'' Tao Raised his hand. "Hsien Lian, you and I both know that's nonsense. You didn't betray Heaven. Not with a vengeful spirit."

Hsien Lian had brung this up, he wasn't going to give up. Not until he tried his hardest. "In the rule book you said that there are three types of betrayment in Heaven. 1: Betrayal by being neutral. 2:Betrayal by being absent. And 3: Betrayal by being loyal to the opposite team." Hsien Lian pointed out. His voice was unsteady. He wasn't going to cry, instead he wanted to prove a point.

"Tao Wu, explain to me how that is not what I did?"

Tao Wu stayed quiet, rubbing his forehead. "Hsien Lian, you were manipulated-" "Manipulated? Tao Wu, we talked. That was it. How can talking mean manipulation? He asked me questions about myself, and I told him. I asked him questions and he told me. That's friendship, not manipulation. Stop blaming him for everything. I know what I did, and I know what was wrong."

Tao Wu didn't say anything. He didn't say anything about Hsien Lian's tone, nor why he was mad. Tao Wu sighed a breath of frustration. "The third's consequence is banment of Heaven. You won't be a god, you will barely be a human. I don't want that to happen to you. Hsien Lian, I took you under my wing for a reason," Tao Wu stopped himself, nodding his head.

"I will punish you. But you won't be banned." Tao Wu mutters. Hsien Lian finally looks up at those words. "How, then?"

Hsien Lian could feel the burn scar on his skin. The young prince huffed, shutting his eyes tightly as the burn slid from his wrists all the way to the tips of his skull. It was a burn Hsien Lian couldn't imagine. Right over his aura mark, kong. Empty in Chinese. The young girl lets go of his hand, allowing the young god to shake it slightly, before handing it back to her. She wraps the first side up in a bandage. "Do what you want, they won't get messy. No need to replace them. She explains, wrapping it tightly, before going to the other side.

Tao Wu stood behind her, his hands glowed a bright yellow. Jing Mei stood to the side, crossing her arms. She was just as hesitant as Tao Wu, but they both understood what was happening. But they were also questioning why.

The girl stepped back, standing slightly behind Tao Wu, who was looking at Hsien Lian. "Anything else you want to add?" Hsien Lian was going to be banished from Heaven for three hundred years. When he comes back, he will only be a Noble God. He had lost so much, but he deserved it didn't he. He had a feeling it wasn't betraying Heaven. When Tao Wu spoke up, Hsien Lian nodded. There was one thing he wanted to say.

"Let me forget everything that I have done wrong."
