Chapter 5: meeting co-workers

' To be honest, I never thought that I would agree on something with this shameless system of mine but I can't deny that knowing how to maintain your weapons can prove to be life-saving and it should be a basic skill too that I should learn early on.' I grew silent as I thought about it. After some time I shook my head to clear my mind and entered the kitchen to prepare something for dinner.

I ate my dinner without much complaint before getting to bed as I had to wake early tomorrow so that I could practice with my wooden sword and then go to work.

*** Next day, 5 am.

I sluggishly got up from my bed before performing the daily activities in the washroom. I was never the morning person but I could wake up early when I needed to.

After wearing clothes suitable for exercising, I left the room with my wooden sword to visit the garden beside the apartment.

I began with performing some warm-up activities before picking the sword. To be honest, I was more of a scholar than a warrior before I transmigrated in this body but the past owner had trained in the art of swords for a couple of years. I remember how he trained as I shared his memories too and the body also remembered the feel of holding a sword in hands. I started with performing simple kata that he used to practice and slowly followed the movements from the memories that I received.

This would be my daily routine until I joined the academy. I trained for an hour before returning to my room and taking a shower and getting ready for my first day of job.

I got ready around 6:30 before preparing breakfast and eating it as I believe I would be needing it a lot today. I left the apartments at 7:20 am on foot. I preferred walking as it helped with stamina and it kept my wallet happy too. It was not like the town was big enough that I must use any sort of vehicle.

*** blueberries restaurant, 7:55 am

I reached the place before the given time and found a worker already standing at the entrance.

I walked up to him before addressing him," Hello, I'm Steve. Could you please tell me who is Phil?" I offered my head and he accepted it.

We shook our hands before he opened his mouth," Nice to meet you, Steve. I'm Ethan. I have heard about you from Emily" when my face showed confusion at the mentioned name he nodded gently before continuing," Emily is the name of the receptionist that guided you to Miss Sophia. Come follow me, Phil should be in the staff room with all the others. let me show you the way."

I nodded to him as I followed behind him. Ethan looked not much older than, maybe 5 to 6 years only. Actually, most of the employees of blueberries that I saw until now looked not much older than myself.

I observed Ethan as I followed him, he had blonde hair that looked a little dirty on the coloring side, a handsome face with black eyes, and a sharp nose. His body is slim and well defined like myself and the classic Butler outfit suited him perfectly. He walked like he was trained professionally which might be very much true.

" December might prove to be a curse and a boon for you. As the weather remains pretty cool this month, you won't be cooked alive inside the costume but as it is also the Christmas season, there will be a long of kids strolling on the streets with their families to visit their elder brother or sister in the academy which would increase your workload a lot too," he told me while walking forward.

I subconsciously even though he can't see me before he turned to me as he pointed at a door," that's where all the employees gather except chefs as they have to prepare for the opening. Now I would be returning to my post, see you later." he patted me on my shoulder as he left.

I looked at him go before walking to the door and knocking on it once and then entering after a few seconds.

I suddenly became the center of attention as soon as I closed the door behind me. there were 8 people inside the room except me.

" Nice to meet you all, I'm the guy that applied for the mascot duty yesterday, Name's Steve. " I said with a nervous smile.

I never liked to be the center of attention as an inherently lazy person. If I could, I like to stay away from attention.

the room looked like it was remodeled according to convenience after it was made by the staff.

the gentleman that appeared to be the superior of these people and as well as mine nodded at my introduction before he spoke to me," You applied for the right time, the Christmas season is one of the old concepts that had been followed till this day so you could guess that how popular it is. All the business receives a bonus in customers and ours is no different too. kids have a lot of potential when it comes to attracting customers as so making them happy and attracted would be ideal for our business.

Miss Sophia took the right decision to appoint you even though you would only be working for a month. " the others smiled wryly.

The girl sitting at the corner shook her head before speaking to the gentleman," You should be introduced yourself and us first, Phil."

she then turned to me and spoke while taking a yawn," Sorry about Phil. He is not that good at interpersonal skills as he often gets more focused on marketing development and stuff. Anyways I'm Cora. nice to meet ya"

Cora appeared to be my age, had black hair cut until the neck with same colored eyes too. she had an aura like no matter what happens, she doesn't care a bit around her.
