I put the artifact in my backpack as I wore a raincoat before getting out of the room and stepping into the elevator.
" Miss Agatha " I rang the bell before Calling out her name in the speaker and then stepped back to wait for a while.
" Yes, Steve? " She opened the door before looking at my whole getup, " Are you going hiking or something? "
She chuckled as she put her hand before her mouth," What's with this getup? ".
It did look like I was going to camp with the rope and other things attached to the survival bag on my shoulders but I would rather be prepared for any situation than suffer because of arrogance.
" I just thought of informing you that I might come late today. " I gave an embarrassed smile.
" It's perfectly fine, young man. It's new year's eve so I sort of expected it but with this getup, I don't think you would be able to meet any dates tonight. " She smiled softly before nodding at the getup.
" I think I already did the date part for today. Now it's time to work. " I remarked before bidding her farewell as I exited the apartments.
I stopped a taxi and asked the driver to take me to the radio tower as I relaxed in the backseat.
Just a few minutes later, the rain started to fall from the stormy clouds that were present since yesterday. Thankfully, I could still observe the sun which meant that sky would be clear until the evening, and my plans won't go to waste.
Requiem online was really popular in my past world and one of the reasons why it was so famous was because it tried to present itself more similar and realistic to the real world even though it had fantasy elements inside it.
To capture or bond with a magical beast, you had to sign a contract with it. In requiem online, you don't need to put your blood or stuff like that in a magical circle to establish the contract.
Instead of stuff like that, You need to get the consent of the beast by presenting your feelings toward it and if the beast agreed to your partner then it would present its conditions that you had to provide as the consideration.
'It's almost like a real contract, you give the offer and they examine it before asking for consideration to which if you agree then they give you the agreement, and the contract gets established.' I paid the driver before exiting the car and stepping inside the radio building.
The radio station was situated on the tenth floor but in reality, the building had 19 floors in total.
I quietly entered the elevator and pressed for the highest floor. Thankfully, no one was present in the hallway when the elevator opened on the highest floor so I quickly climbed the stairs and reached before the rooftop's gate.
It was locked, most likely to prevent anyone from trying to commit suicide or a crime. The lock was not that strong but I couldn't make much noise too otherwise I had to explain my presence here.
I opened the bag to take out a lighter and ignited it and out in under the slimmest point on the lock for a few minutes.
Once I was sure that it got heated as much as I needed it to be, I opened one of the test tubes containing liquid nitrogen and sprinkled it on the lock.
I repeated the whole thing 2 more times before wrapping cotton around the weak point and putting a small metal bar between it. I then pulled the lock toward me and kicked the metal bar on the left side.
It took 6 tries but it finally broke. I took deep breaths as I collected the pieces back into the bag.
'I would make sure to put a new lock on the door tomorrow so even if it got discovered later on. People don't complain too much after all I wouldn't be stealing something from the rooftop that belonged to anyone.' I close the door behind me once I stepped on the roof before sighing exhaustedly as I leaned against the door.
Since the rain was still going on, I stayed by the door so I didn't get unnecessarily wet even though I was wearing a raincoat.
****Third-person P.O.V.
Steve was unaware that as soon as he stepped into the building, he attracted a pair of eyes that watched him constantly after that.
Beauty was in the eyes of the beholder was a famous saying in his old world. He never asked his friend why everybody agreed on giving the beast title of "cutest pet" when they were usually ready to fight for anything.
Some people prefer cats while others prefer dogs so why would they agree wholeheartedly on this issue? The fact of the matter was that his friend didn't tell him the complete truth about the beast because he wanted to leave a surprise for him.
Beauty and cuteness were subjective but power and usefulness were not, they were absolute. What Steve didn't know was that the beast that he thought of as fanservice was also the most powerful and versatile pet in the whole game and It had another title except for the "cutest pet" which was " The cheat ".
The said Cheat was currently observing the human before her which was emitting such beautiful dimensional signature that she saw in her centuries of a lifetime.
The artifact that he was carrying with him was certainly interesting too but it lacked the uniqueness that the human himself was emitting.
He clearly came for her as he had required material to establish a communication rune with him, she was more surprised than beware about how he found her location as he didn't have the capabilities to prove to be a threat to her and she was more than capable of escaping into dimensional cracks if she faced a disastrous opponent.
As a dimensional being with more than a century of experience traveling the different worlds, There were not many beings that could claim to be capable of capturing her without her consent.
She came to watch the fireworks like every other year but this was a pleasant surprise that she wasn't expecting.
Curiosity was something that she found hard to control since she was born.
She looked at the weird yet interesting specimen before her before putting her powers to work. It took just a little suggestion to affect the human's mind and put him into a deep slumber.
She stepped into the wet floor which she always disliked but her curiosity fuelled her advances as she approached him.
The human was calmly taking deep breaths unaware of her presence just before him.
She needed to know why he was emitting such a bizarre dimensional signature, It felt both illusionary yet so unfathomable that every fur in her body shook in its presence.
Steve's only title showed its effect on the beast since she as a dimensional being was highly sensitive to both magical and dimensional energies.
Thankfully for Steve, She was not interested in violence as much as she was curious about him otherwise he would be dead rather than just unconscious.
