Chapter 20.5 The Empty World. (On behalf of Kaji Uyato)
When I was touched by a card with an inscription, which I noticed only at the end of the attack, I was transported to a place where there was nothing.
That's what I thought, but after a few seconds, sounds like fireworks rumbled somewhere above, and after such a noise, a map fell on me.
Although there was no light before, immediately after the appearance of the map, everything became much brighter. And if you thought that I meant the same cards that you used before, you are very mistaken.
Yes, it was almost the most common geographical map. But it was she who gave such a glow to everything around here.
Looking at this map, I noticed that the map does not come from our ordinary world, but from this supposedly "empty" world. But in fact, this world was already inhabited by someone, there were forests and settlements, but all this fit in a very small space.
While I was thinking, someone came up to me from behind and started pulling me from behind.
"D-uncle, please help me find my way to my house," I heard when I turned around, but I didn't notice anyone at first, but looking a little lower, I noticed a girl about waist-high, with a completely tear-stained face, long hair that was blowing in the wind.
While I was looking at her, she asked me a question again:
— You have a map, can you help me find the way?
- Okay, I'll help you, but unfortunately I'm not well oriented here myself, - I said, because I had no knowledge of the location here.
The girl took the card and touched her eye on it and I looked at the card again and noticed that a certain dot appeared, similar to a drop of tears, but the girl made the following statement:
- My magic, manifestation. With the help of it, I can manifest anything I want, now I have shown my location on this map, so it will be easier for us to go home. – she was saying, already with a more joyful face than when she came to me for help.
The following cities were placed on the map: Karets, Mirga and Leins. They were all at a very great distance, the closest to us was called Mirga. I decided to ask the girl if she was from this city.
She answered, with her face lowered again and a sad grimace, no, I'm from the city of Leins.
Again I looked at the map and realized that this city was the farthest from them, in general I do not understand how the girl could be here.
Of course, I didn't want to leave the girl in such trouble, and taking her on my shoulders, I went to the nearest city to find a place to live for a while, and I didn't have food with me…
And besides, maybe there is some kind of transport in the city that will help us get to the right place for the girl.
The road was not long, although it seemed on the map that the distance was very long, but in fact we got there in the fastest possible time.
The city we approached was very bright and emotional, unlike its surroundings, although the world is "Empty" by the name of our world, but in fact everything turns out to be not so terrible at all. There were a very large number of people on the streets of the city, there were shops with magical artifacts in the markets, as well as carts that would help us get to the city, but unfortunately, I didn't have any money at all.
- Hey you... Are you not local here? - I heard an unpleasant male voice from behind. I turned around.
Behind me stood a fat little man with pointed ears and a long sword behind him. It was an elf.
- Yes, we are not local, we don't have money, we don't need trouble, so please, let's not fight.
The elf laughed out loud at my words, as if I had told him some very funny joke, taking out the brain.
— Yes, what a nuisance, travelers, I wanted to help you with housing, I immediately realized by the look of you that you are not local, and you don't have our currency, so I wanted to invite you to my own hotel for travelers.
Well, it was hard not to refuse such an offer and we headed to this hotel. This hotel was about the size of a castle, which was located a little further away. In Japan, of course, there were a lot of such buildings, but in a city that was not the largest in this world, such buildings… This is very surprising…
While we were climbing the stairs of this building, we talked with the elf about weapons, because we had to somehow protect the girl and myself, because I thought it was better to predict everything once than not to think about it and suffer.
We walked through this building for a very long time and now we finally went to I don't know which floor. There was no floor designation, nothing like that here. Only rooms with numbers, the first digits of which most likely indicated the floor number, but it was not the last floor that we needed to climb. We only stopped here so that the Elf could take out the sword we were talking about while walking up the stairs. This sword was sky-black. That is, the hilt of the sword reflected the light inside itself, and the black blade absorbed all the light back. After waving my sword a couple of times, I thanked the elf for his kindness, but I still hadn't even called his name and I decided to ask him about him.
— What is your name, you kind person ... - I wanted to say a man, but I stopped, because I knew that he was not a man, but an elf.
— Yes, nothing happens to anyone, I was called not only a person... my name is Zetsu, and the name of this hotel is Zetsumir.
The original name formed using the owner's name and the word "world"... We should also come up with something similar for our research center
The girl's name was Waka, she told me that right after I asked Zetsu about his name. Apparently the girl wanted to draw attention to herself, because along the way we hardly talked to her.
- So you don't even know each other? - Zetsu remarked, directing his gaze at me and making a thoughtful grimace.
- Yes, I met her on the way, she got lost, that's the way things are... - I said at the same time scratching my head.
- Here we are!, - Zetsu let out a sharp cry as he approached the room number 3812. It was the last room of this floor, this floor itself resembled some very intellectual place.
Everywhere there were games that were in my former world, such as sega, chess and similar mind games.
There were also bookshelves with a length of the entire corridor. Yes, I definitely wouldn't have seen such a thing in my world.
Waka started taking these books, and while she was taking them, Zetsu was just whistling something through his nose, probably his folk songs. Suddenly he broke off and said that it was time for him to go, and the books, as the girl reads, let him put the books in their places.
Waka nodded her head and walked quickly into the room. When I entered the room, I thought that there would be an ordinary luxury room here… But everything turned out to be much better. The room was very huge, one might even say presidential, and it seemed as if it consisted not of one small, but of many large ones... the girl was sitting in the corner of one of the smallest rooms and reading a book.
I looked everywhere and noticed on the table a note "Guide for beginners Mirga". After reading this rather small brochure, I highlighted the following important things for myself:
- The actions of magic on people are prohibited here.
- There are guilds in the city, for quick money on killing monsters.
The last one was ads about dangerous criminals who attack in the middle of the day... although it was difficult to determine the time of day here.
But judging by the fact that I clearly wanted to sleep, it was probably already night. On the street there was both darkness from the sky and bright white light from the houses.
I went out into the corridor and began to collect a pile of books that would help me master basic knowledge about this world.
But the further meeting in the corridor was shocking for me…
