His family conducted a DNA test multiple times between the three of them and proved that he was her child's father. Coupled by the child's photo and her conversation with Anna, there is no doubt she was that unknown girl.
Zach believes it was impossible for Angie not to understand the truth, or to feel suspicious of what happened. She is probably convincing herself, attempting to forget her unfortunate experience. And that was all because of him!
Even though there was her ex-husband who took the responsibility which should belong to him, it was enough for her to hate him after discovering he was the biological father of her child.
Although he didn't understand why Angie was certain that her daughter was a child of her ex-husband, Zach could visualize that the news about him being the real biological father was a blow to her.
Just imagine, all along Angie believed that her ex-husband was her child's father, yet someone informed her that he wasn't, it was a stranger instead who came from another country.
Truthfully, Zach always wanted to ask what happened that night because he could vaguely recollect what transpired between them, but he knew it was like opening a deep and scary scar.
After hearing her conversation with his little sister, Zach was also interested to know why Angie seemed unaware of what happened between them. Particularly why she believed that her ex-husband was the father of her child.
Knowing that he couldn't get an answer to these questions, Zach let go of Angie's wrist and stood up, trying to calm himself from being mad and disappointed before he caught her whimpering in pain.
It was the only time that Zach noticed some bruises on her wrist, especially when her dress was pulled up revealing her legs.
Looking at her thighs, Zach can't help asking himself. 'Was I too hard on her last night to get those bruises? Or was it earlier?'
He looked back at her wrist while she sat up and fixed her dress. Zach can only say in his mind. 'Is she so delicate to obtain bruises easily just like that? I didn't use much force to hold her.'
Zach frowned, he sat beside her but Angie didn't even look at him. 'Does she hate me so much that she won't even look at me?'
"Why don't you want to marry me? Am I not that handsome enough? Am I still poor in your eyes? What am I lacking in for you to reject me?" He asked curiously.
"You're more handsome than I expected, and you're rich enough for any woman to dream of marrying you," Angie replied nonchalantly without looking at him.
She was about to stand up, but Zach suddenly pulled her towards him, making her fall in his arms, facing each other with his arms locked around her.
"Then why don't you want to marry me?" He seriously asked again while looking straight into her eyes. "They repeated the DNA test multiple times, and you can't deny that she's our daughter."
"As I said, many women are dying to marry me. If they have my child they will surely make use of that opportunity.." Zach was interrupted.
"If you want to marry me just because you believe that my daughter is your child and due to guilt, and responsibility, then you don't have to worry about it." Angie intruded.
This time, Zach didn't respond. Angie was right, it was one of the reasons why he wanted to marry her. But aside from the guilt and the child, he prefers Angie becoming his wife than any other woman. It would also stop his parents from nagging him to have a family.
"As I said, Mr. Rainford. That's them but not me. Whether you were the biological father of my daughter or not, I am not willing and not interested to marry you." Angie firmly clarified.
Watching Zach keep on staring at her, Angie helplessly sighed. "You deserve someone better. Besides, I don't want to meet my death too soon."
Zach raised an eyebrow which made her continue explaining. "You already said it yourself. There's a lot of women who are dying to marry you. Why don't you marry them more than me?"
"Besides, marrying you means provoking every woman who likes you. They will only hate me and it might only put my life in danger, especially my daughter." Angie added.
Before Zach could speak, Angie immediately continued. "With your handsome face, that's already enough for those women to try becoming my enemy and I don't want that. I only want to have a normal life with fewer worries."
"Baby, you're such a selfish person, aren't you?" Zach suddenly said with a chuckle and amazement in his voice, but he tightened his embrace and gave her a quick kiss.
Angie got startled, her eyes narrowed while her face turned dark as she uttered with an irritated voice. "What the hell?! Can you stop kissing me?! And don't call me baby! You're not even my boyfriend!"
"What's wrong with me kissing you? We have done more than kissing." Zach lazily argued as he lifted his brow, which gained a sharp glare from Angie. "Little selfish."
"Yes, I'm a selfish person. And I'm someone who wants freedom so I do what I want. I have a bad temper and I'm a rebellious kind of person." Angie declared openly.
Unfortunately, Zach didn't get angry or disappointed but only chuckled. He was very amused by how she tried to discredit herself just to decline him from marrying her.
Still, it made him feel hurt while thinking Angie should be doing this because she hated him. Perhaps she still couldn't accept the fact that he was her daughter's biological father.
Zach seriously claimed while staring straight into her eyes. "I'll agree with any of your terms as long as you marry me."
"If not, then I assure you that Anna will get her punishment after what happened to both of you." He added with a cold threatening voice and felt Angie's body instantly become stiff.
