Poor Anna, she didn't know her misery hadn't started yet. Both wife and husband were very strict and as the unlucky one who was under their tight surveillance, her life was about to fall into their hands.
'Oh, Harold, my dear cousin, please come and save me from these two beasts eyeing at me! My dear little niece, come save your beloved aunt from your mother and father!' Anna kept on screaming in her mind.
After their lunch, Zach and their elders went onto the study room, leaving Anna and Angie in the living room.
As soon as they took their seat, Zach could no longer hold himself. His cold expressionless face turned dark as he rained them with questions.
"Why didn't you tell me about finding them a few months ago? Why didn't you tell me right away that we had a child? Why did you only inform me yesterday?" His voice was cold and agitated.
No matter how cold he sounded, Zach didn't lose his respect, but he was too aggrieved and sounded like a child complaining about their unfair treatment while slumping on the sofa.
This left those elders feeling speechless and amused by his unexpected behavior. They didn't know whether to cry or laugh as they have never seen him behaving this way since he was a child.
To be exact, the only times they had seen him aggrieved and irritated was every time he came back from P country without good results and didn't even find any clues about his long-lost girl. Other than that, Zach was always mature, steady, and composed.
Now he, who was already turning 30, looked like a child whose favorite candy was taken away. They found it funny as they thought he asked to speak with them about other important matters, yet it was all about Angie.
Mr. Rainford couldn't help but clear his throat, making Zach come back to his senses and immediately sit up straight, returning into his steady composure while having his normal cold and expressionless face.
'Why do I feel like I'm starting to become stupid when it comes to my daughter and wife?' Zach speechlessly asked himself.
He was also bewildered by how he was behaving. If the elders of the Rainford family heard his thoughts, they would surely agree and tell him in disdain, 'No doubt, you are already stupid'.
"We didn't tell you right away because we are afraid you'll be impulsive and run straight to P country to find them." Mr. Rainford started to explain. He suddenly felt ashamed by his eldest son's hidden stupidity.
"Isn't it just right for me to do that?" Zach asked while creasing his brow, leaving the elders feeling speechless again.
"Son, did you knock your head? How come you seem to be turning more stupid?" Mrs. Rainford blatantly asked.
"..." This time, Zach was rendered speechless.
"With your negative EQ and current foolish behavior, if you left to find them that time, there is no doubt that Angie might not want to come here at all. Especially agreeing to marry a stupid person like you." Grandpa Rainford said with disdain, making Zach stunned.
This was the first time he experienced his parents and grandparents despising him. He was always being praised for his excellence, yet now they were looking at him with contempt.
"If I were Angie who would meet a stranger like you, and suddenly confess being my daughter's father, I would be frightened and would not hesitate to call the police." Mrs. Rainford agreed with her father-in-law's statements.
"..." Zach was still speechless as he looked at his mother with disbelief.
"Even if you show the DNA test, I will file a lawsuit against you for having sex with an underage girl without her knowledge. Then the child would be proof of what you have done." Mrs. Rainford clarified.
She had no choice, after realizing that his stupid son wouldn't even understand how a woman would feel to suddenly meet a shameless stranger and claim as her daughter's biological father.
Zach was completely dumbfounded. He didn't think too much about the impacts on him as his mind was always revolving towards finding his wife.
Seeing that Zach truly didn't think about those things, even the kind and amiable grandmother Rainford felt she wanted to slap her eldest grandson's head. She couldn't believe that her perfect grandson has a very stupid side of him.
"Don't you understand why Angie keeps on trying to reject the truth that you were her child's father despite the solid evidence provided to her?" Mrs. Rainford helplessly reminded her son.
"As a single mother who has been raising her daughter for years all by herself, it would be strange if she wouldn't feel frightened and think that we might take her child away."
"You know that her family status in P country was very average. If she found out about our family status and you, the father of her daughter being the CEO of Yuze Corporation, she would think you might take the child away from her."
"She might even run away and hide with your daughter. It would make her feel helpless as she has no way to fight the custody case against you."
"..." Zach froze in an instant and turned stiff while his heart almost stopped beating. His lips turned pale as he realized how stupid he was for not considering those things.
What his elders said was true. If he found out about his wife and child, there is no doubt that he would fly straight to P Country. But Zach didn't think about the consequences.
There is indeed a huge possibility for his wife to run away and hide with his daughter. Zach felt his heart trembling tremendously as he thought of losing his wife again. He couldn't imagine what he would do if that happened
'No, I won't let my wife run away with my daughter. Now that I found her, I will never give her any chance to leave me again!' Zach asserted in his mind as his blue eyes turned cold and dark.
