chapter19 anniversary party

Are all relationship usually this hectic and stressful or is it karma that caught up with her? she have heard severally that men can be demanding pricks but Trevor was just being ridiculous, and that was how grace ended up wearing an ash ball gown to her father's anniversary party 'so that we would wear matching outfit' he said

she had already made up her mind that she would break up with the guy after the anniversary party. she didn't like to be controlled or pushed around and Trevor is the definition of controlling and pushy.

all she had to do is get through the night, stay close by when Trevor and her dad are having that utterly pointless man to man talk, make sure that Trevor doesn't say anything out of line aka extremely possessive and she'll be home free.

an hour into the party, grace and Trevor had greeted most of the guest and for some reason, she could see recognition and shock in their eyes but they didn't say anything

'what the heck?' Trevor told her that he usually don't socialize with CEOs and socialites but people here seem to recognize him and they seem weary of him. one more reason to nip this thing with Trevor In the bud. when Trevor and her dad started having their talk, Anna and Ivory dragged her into a circle of gossiping aunties, asking her annoying questions and saying things like:

"oh my, is that handsome man your boyfriend?''

"when are you getting married?"

" he is so handsome and looks rich too"

"your children will look so adorable"

"make sure you give birth to more than two children so your child won't be lonely"

Grace wanted to scream 'nobody is getting married I want to dump him as soon as possible', but she gave them a shy smile, looking calm and composed

when she looked over at her dad and Trevor, Trevor seem to be saying something serious and her dad was doing that thing where he'd frown with his eyebrows. the more she tried to escape from the giggling bunch of aunties, the more she got strapped. whatever Trevor said to her dad must have upsetted him and because he is such a peaceful man, he left, no arguments he just walked away.

'why me' she whined internally, she remembered the time when she ruined a cute couple's anniversary party just because she could ' definitely bad karma'

and when she thought things couldn't get any more worse, Lucas Lin arrived side by side with a big boobed bimbo, as in the big boobed bimbo was trying to enter his sides.

she didn't know whether to laugh or cry, she felt dejected and frustrated, so she retreated. she snagged a bowl of strawberries and melted chocolate and went into her father's study to calm herself

when she entered the study, her father was already there, she smiled when she saw him dipping strawberries into his own bowl of melted chocolate. a wave of nostalgia hit her. they used to do this all the time when she was younger, even after her mom died, no matter how busy her father was. they would the silently in the kitchen or chat about anything and everything, every Mondays Thursdays and Sundays until she went to the University

"Dad" grace called

seeing that her father was ignoring her, she sat on the guest chair opposite him

after a few minutes of silence.

" where did you meet that guy"

" I meet him at the hospital" she mumbled, half hoping that have father wouldn't hear her

"hospital?"

"yes, about two months ago when I had an accident, he is the owner of the speeding car that caused the accident. he came to apologize and that's how we met"

" I know I might have pressured you into dating, but I don't think this guy is good for you, I doubt that you have been seeing this guy for over a month but there he was, referring to you with possessive pronouns"

"I know, I know. I think a break up is in order"

her dad nodded " I don't want you to get involved in something that would suffocate you"

grace couldn't agree more so they fell back into a comfortable silence eating their chocolaty treats

twenty minutes later, grace and her dad headed back to the party. her dad gave her a soothing rub on her back and rushed to find his wife. at first, she didn't approve of the marriage but now, she's just happy that her father is happy, she can only hope to find this kind of happiness one day

when she found her beloved date, he was talking to Lucas, smirking and sipping wine while Lucas was frowning 'deja vu?'

grace took awhile to appreciate the embodiment of beauty which is Lucas Lin, she checked him out like the pervert she is, and when she looks at he's handsome face, his cheeks was tainted in lights pink or maybe it's was her wild imagination.....probably is.

"hello gentlemen" Trevor didn't fail to secure her into his arm, resting his hands on her hips as if claiming her as his possession

'somebody has to teach this guy that nobody possesses Grace Tang' she thought, but she didnt say or do anything, she knows better than to offend when she is not ready to defend besides this is not the time or the place to shut her supposed boyfriend down
