chapter62 Family dinner

Grace refused to wear the white dress Maya and Anna picked out for her. it also flowery patterns on it although the flowers on hers were blue and the ones Anna wore years ago was yellow, it still means the same thing. wearing a white flowery dress to such occasions, attracts weird Aunties who 'want the best for you'. they settled for a beige dress.

she hates feeling nervous, she feeling anything less than confident but Maya and Anna seems to be having a filled day at her expense. even baby Lillian was giggling at her.

she needed new friends and she would have gotten some too if not that she always end up having constant arguments or huge fights with her so called friends. Maya and Anna would have to do. for now.

"don't worry" easier said than done "everything will be fine"

"you look great, you are great and everything will turn out great"

when Lucas arrived, he was wearing a beige colored clothes. although it wasn't by coincidence, he had asked her what color of clothes she would wear and she told him but damn. her brain was doing freaking back flips. not only were they wearing matching outfits but Lucas looked.. she couldn't even come up with words to describe his sexiness.

Lucas is wearing beige suit but leaning more on the casual side. instead of a button up shirt, he wore a plain white shirt. his prim and proper gelled back hair is replaced with a messy schoolboy style.

Lucas Lin equals absolute gorgeousness.

"you look amazing" that was the first thing Lucas said to her that evening.

"thank you" she blushed like a schoolgirl.

"actually, you always look amazing, it just takes me off guard all the time" her face turn to a tomato.

he kissed her right cheek, her left cheek and then her lips.

Lucas is at the process of breaking out of his bashful shell, slowly but surely. small actions like kissing her cheeks or lips, putting his hand on her lower back and so much more.

'my baby is growing up' she thought dramatically.

he opened the car's door for her like a gentleman and I journey began.

when they reached the front door of the Lin family house, Grace paused and took a deep breath. 'I am confident' she looked at the shimmering ray of sunlight and thought, 'fück this, I'll be damned if I let a simple failed dinner decide whether she can be with her crush/boyfriend or not.

"a little heads up, my mom and sister are hyped and a little.. crazy"

"crazy. got it" crazy is good. she can handle crazy.

"Lucas? what are doing outside" a pretty and elegantly dressed woman in her fifties probably Lucas's mother. Mrs Lin haven't been seen by eyes since her husband died but they shared a striking resemblance after all. "if you want to say outside, at least bring the pretty lady in"

"you ready?" Lucas asked, firmly but gently holding her hand.

"yeah"

as soon as she entered the house, Lucas's mom hugged her tightly.

"you must be the infamous Miss Grace Tang. I've heard a lot about you not only from Lucas and Luna but from everywhere. you are quite popular, the successful businesswoman with spunk"

she had a reputation but the elderly woman didn't seem to care. she actually look.. proud? -definitely crazy.

"hello boss, I mean Miss Tang.. I mean Miss Grace?" Luna rushed confusedly "I actually don't know what to call you"

"Grace. just Grace"

"okay Grace just grace" Luna seemed to be trying to make a joke but Grace's humor sense is at seven percent at most and nobody laughed either.

"tough crowd" Luna grumbled.

"so the rumors are true, of all the girls my nephew could have brought home, he choose the demon"

Grace narrowed her eyes at the woman, trying to remember where she seen her before but she has never been good with face so she had no luck remembering.

"the former middle school principal and my aunt" Lucas whispered

"oh. good evening Mrs.." she remembered the face but not the name -never really did "principal?"

"it's Mrs Martha Feng" the principal lady scowled " still as forgetful as before, I see. I wonder how you run your company"

this woman is obviously the weird unwanted relative Anna was talking about so, Grace ignored her and focused on people were actually important and happy to see her.

"Mrs Lin, this is for you" Grace presented a bouquet of paint brushes. "Lucas told me you love to paint"

"how sweet of you. I love it. thank you" Mrs Lin gushed "and please call me Jade"

"sure. Jade" Grace said, testing the name out.

"come let's have dinner and we can get to know each other better"

instead of a simple dinner, she met with a full blown banquet which doesn't make sense because there were only five people seated at the table.

"I didn't know what kind of food you like or if you are allergic to anything. so I went crazy"

"you made all this?" Grace smiled widely "everything looks delicious and I'm sure it taste delightful too"

"awwwn. you are so sweet" Jade practically squealed while the unwanted relative grumbled how the sweetness is just an act.

the dinner continued with Jade sharing stories about Lucas childhood especially the embarrassing one while Lucas would groan and whine his complaints. Luna would chip in from time to time but she was too busy with the chicken in her plate to say much.

if not for Mrs principal lady was passing comment now and then on how all that glitters is not gold and demons can disguise themselves as angels and other bullcrap, everything would have been perfect but so far so good everyone that matters likes her. even Lincoln, the family dog (a/n I'm pretty sure I mention the dog before and I can remember what I named it so, I'm changing it) likes her. sitting obediently at her feet like a good boy.

~it was heard to follow advice of not eating too much. Jade's cooking was superb, Lucas's cooking couldn't even compare.

"my baby might not look the part but he is very shy man" jade said suddenly, while Grace was having seconds. "but I can tell that my son likes you alot and I can tell that you like him and I like you too. you are perfect for my son and so I'm trusting you to take care of him for the rest of your lives"

stunned. she expected things to go really bad. and then this happens? "I'll t-try my best"

"and I know my son hasn't proposed yet, I bet a million bucks he hasn't told you he loves you yet. he is slow like that but just so you know, I'm already planning your wedding"

"moooomm!!" Lucas whined with a shade of pink in his cheeks "haven't you embarrassed me enough?!"

Jade smirked "I'm just getting started. my dear Grace, would you like to join me in the living room? I have some embarrassing pictures of your boyfriend to show you"

Grace mirrored her smirk. "my pleasure"
