.chapter75 Snub fest

Things went wrong.... again.

after her little brunch/gossip session with Maya, Grace hosted a lavish evening party on her yacht. to the guests, it was just another random extravagant party.. but for Maya, Anna, Trevor and Grace, they were her 'possible' future engagement.

when she woke up, her head was pounding like a heavy metal concert.

it was all good and fine until her friend started to ignore her. radio silence from everyone, all her supposed friends -the important ones, all three of them including Lucas.

how could they do this to her? how dare they?!

she was the one that brought them together. then why?

Anna, who used to send her cheesy messages about positivity aka, 'the daily dose of positivity' everyday for the past three years and after she gave birth to Lillian, Anna would often attach cute pictures of the baby. Grace secretly loved reading those text messages but would always call Anna out on being "mushy".

Trevor used to show up in her office so much that she started to expect his visits. he would lounge in her office for hours sometimes silently, sometimes they would chat or they would take turns ranting about life and sometimes, he would bring his laptop and turn her office into his. but now, no texts, no calls and no visit.

and then there is Maya, her supposed -ride or die. whatever happened to the 'dream team'? Grace tried but she couldn't wrap her head around the fact that Maya is ignoring her. declining her calls and not replying any of her texts. 'is she jealous of me?' that has to be it, what else could it be? she didn't seem jealous over brunch or at the yacht. she seemed happy for her, she was happy for happy for her then why?

and saving the complete worst for last, Lucas Lin. the man her dreams. he should be comforting her after the sudden and drastic loss of friends but also joined the 'let's ignore Grace and make break her tiny heart' club. even her protégé was acting weird.

who needs friends and a boyfriend anyways? not her, that's who.

for the first three days, she thought it was a fluke. an unfortunate coincidence. she tried coming up with excuses why they were ignoring her. maybe Anna phone got missing, maybe Trevor traveled for business or whatever underworld people do, maybe Maya maybe Maya has an important project. may Lucas.... she couldn't come up with a single excuse for Lucas. she is his girlfriend for goodness sake! sending a text message shouldn't be such a herculean task. she kept trying though, until the evening of the third 'snub day'. she 'coincidentally' saw Lucas at the World Trade Union's HQ. she spotted him at the other end of the plaza, he saw her too. she expected something, just anything. a smile, a wave or a hi and how do you do but she received none of those, instead he stared at her for a moments before walking away.

she didn't know what to think or how to feel. just ... "wow"

something doesn't feel right..

but who needs a handsomely hot boyfriend and friends when she has a cute little brother with whom she can play video games with, help with homework, rant and teach how to rant about the fairness of life. she didn't need anybody. nope. nobody at all.

to make things worse, everybody has been talking about this party a gala of some sort. a party that Lucas Lin is hosting, the same Lucas that strongly dislike attending parties and such other functions is hosting a god damn party that too, after refusing to talk to her for days. everything screamed suspicious but her emotions where do unstable to investigate.

More than worse, she wasn't invited!!! she knows absolutely nothing about the party and when people ask her what the party is about, -the party her supposed boyfriend is hosting, she will put on her best fake smile and tell them to attend the party in order to find out when in reality she wanted more nothing more than to flip over a table.

on the sixth day of 'snub fest' which is also the day before the party she received an invite to said party. later that evening, she received a package containing a beautiful sleeveless purple enchanted gown. it was designed by her favourite and one of the most reputable designers in the country. the good stuff.

the gown felt special and the fact that the card says 'will you be my plus-one' signed Secret Admirer was just a plus. the dress is absolutely stunning but it doesn't feel right. apart the fact she has never had a secret admirer in her life -it has been said that she has a nick for dispelling romantic interests, but from all info she has gathered, the dress theme of the party is black and white. she had half the mind to just stay home and get drowned in a bucket, of ice cream that is. who was she kidding she had to go and get to the bottom of all This.

a big part of her still hopes that the party turns into something positive and that there will be a more than acceptable explanation.

evening time of the seventh day of snap fest aka party night if she wasn't heavy-hearted she would have given Luke as a round of applause because then he went all out she took a deep breath before stepping out of the Limo unto the red carpet.

gossiping murmurs in the background, camera lights flashing, the entire thing feels and look like one of those celebrity award shows.

the purple gown made Grace feel like a queen. a sad and lonely queen but a queen nonetheless. speaking of dresses, the secret Admirer sent her another package containing a silver heeled slipper, a matching bag and accessories with a card that says he will be waiting for her at the entrance of the party. definitely suspicious.

another suspicious happening is Lucas standing at the entrance with a failed attempt at a confident smile plastered and his face he stretched out his hand to her in front of everyone beginning for heart attack is hard like he hadn't been snubbing her for the past seven days with a few more deep breaths she push down the urge to punch him square in the face and took his hand wearing a fake smile of her own.
