Chapter 14 A Change of Luck

[Stephanie's POV]

"Wait, Rose." Rose led me on a mad dash outside the packhouse towards the source of the smell of fir, the location of my mate. I knew my mate was close to me, and the fact that he was in my pack meant he definitely wasn't Carl. But, I wasn't prepared for the possibility that this mate would try to kill me too.

"Shut up, Girl! Don't you want to see who your new mate will be after your rebirth? Rose didn't listen to me at all. In fact, in a sense, her words represented my alternative thoughts. That was, my curiosity seemed to overcome my fear, allowing Rose to lead me on a dash to where the mate was.

"We might need to stop. Maybe wait till tomorrow, and we'll go back to our mate," I suggested to Rose.

"Tomorrow? Tomorrow we won't get killed? Besides, I can feel a strong sense of oppression revealed in this new mate's scent. If he wants to kill us, we're definitely dead."

"What? Then what are we doing here to find him? I don't want to die again!" After I said that, Rose had stopped. She stopped in front of a window, a room I remembered was unoccupied.

"Don't worry, Steph, our mate hasn't moved since we found him. I'm sure he must be asleep, so we'll sneak a peek at who he is and go right back. Then pretend that nothing happened." Rose seemed very confident in her powers.

But when we saw who the man in front of the window was, Rose froze in place.

"Holy crap!" Rose's mouth opened wide.

"Rose, what did you just say?"

"Which one? He must be asleep? Girl, you know how young people sleep late nowadays."

"It's the one - if he wants to kill us, we're definitely dead. Do you know who he is? He's the Alpha King of the Silver Moon Pack. " I shouted to Rose.

I had forgotten that Rose had disappeared a little earlier than my soul in my previous life, so she didn't know that Arthur had saved us from death and sent us back a year ago. However, she shared memories with me. By the time she saw that our new mate was Arthur, she would have already remembered.

"Wow, Steph, we're in a change of luck! Our savior is our new mate. look, this man is so damn fit!"

Rose's focus was on Arthur's naked upper body? But, I had to admit, his muscular arms and six-pack abs on his stomach were very attractive. However, seeing the surprised look on his face, I guess he probably didn't expect to find out that I was his mate at this time either.

Hold on. 'You're gonna be fine, my silly m…ate.' That word starting with M that I didn't catch before I died was 'Mate'. Had he already known I was his mate? How did he know?

I had already been Arthur's mate in my last life, so Arthur was my second chance. Being arranged a second mate when I was dying. Seriously, my moon goddess?

My thoughts were scrambled because it suddenly occurred to me I heard a woman call Arthur "Stupid Wolf" in my last life. If that she-wolf was Arthur's lover and he wanted to be with that she-wolf, Arthur had to reject me after he found I was his mate.

Unfortunately, I was dying at that time. So he decided to save me and send me back so that I would be alive until I was rejected by Carl and became his mate. At that time, he could reject me and have a happy ending with his lover.

I felt frightened after I had made these assumptions. Would I die again after he found out he had become my first mate? Was it still possible for us to escape now?

I didn't deliberately turn off my mind link with Rose, so Rose knew exactly what I was thinking.

"Rose, when you say change of luck, you mean we were killed on my 18th birthday in our last life, and then we could be killed by our second mate on my 17th birthday in the current life?" I pessimistically assumed the worst.

"Steph, do you think I can run faster than this Alpha King?" Rose asked me. I could sense that Rose was also aware of the potential danger that could happen as she took a few steps backward.

[Arthur's POV]

"She's so beautiful! My mate," Paul let out an exclamation in my head.

Yes, I'll admit Steph's wolf was beautiful too. Her amber fur seemed to glow in the moonlight. She was more robust and powerful than the average she-wolf, with her ears standing straight up on her head and her tail standing proudly.

More importantly, it was as if every hair on her body smelled like my and Paul's favorite lemon soda.

"She is mine!" Paul warned me.

"Hey, bro, you are me, and I am you. And, I think she's afraid of us." After calming Paul, I saw fear in the beautiful she-wolf's eyes.

"Let me out! My mate is waiting to see me." Paul urged me.

I suppressed the urge to shift as I saw her take a few steps backward. It was a move I knew so well. She was going to run away.

"Hold on. Steph." my palms braced against the window frame, and my body flipped right out the window and landed smoothly.

Hearing me call her name (actually her human form's name) she stopped backing up and showed me her sharp white teeth. Okay, it looks like my mate's wolf wasn't very good-tempered.

"Oh, Arthur, for Moon God's sake, will you stop scaring my mate?" Unlike his usual calmness, Paul hissed inside my head. Maybe this was the right time to hand it over to Paul.

[Stephanie's POV]

"Hold on. Steph." I heard Arthur shout out my name clearly.

The next second he jumped out of the window of his room, he knew his room was on the second floor, didn't he? Ignoring this question, just as he landed on the ground, the smell of fir in the air got heavier. The scent seemed like fir trees draped in snow, and I thought I was going to sink into his scent.

Rose tried to warn him, he did not continue to approach us. Before we could relax, the guy who was only about three feet away from us suddenly shifted.

Rose and I looked at the huge wolf in front of us in surprise. I could see what Arthur's wolf looked like through Rose's eyes.

It was the first time I had seen a wolf with black fur, and the fur all over his body was pure black without a single stray color. The color of his eyes turned golden red, deep and full of wisdom.

"Steph, he looks so strong. I want to lick him so much." Rose couldn't help but let out a sigh, and I obviously felt our body getting hot.

"Hold it in, Rose, as much as he's... charming, but he's our mate. He might kill us!" I reminded Rose.

"Steph, you're the only wolf in the world who would think a mate would kill you."

"I am the only wolf in the world who once had been killed by a mate on the night of my 18th birthday," I replied to her.

The black wolf on the opposite side seemed to have no patience in waiting for Rose and me to finish our conversation. It pounced and pinned Rose to the ground with its two strong and powerful front paws and body.

"There would be a wolf that was killed by her mate on the night of her 17th birthday. He didn't even open his mouth to talk to me. At least last life, that bastard David lied to me that he would take me to a roast chicken. "Rose and I closed our eyes in terror. Rose wailed at me.

My Moon God, would my wolf desire to eat roast chicken only before dying?

The wet nose touched my lips, and we opened our eyes. As his hot tongue licked our mouths and the soft hair on our chins again. Rose's body softened for a moment, and Rose and I let out a gasp of satisfaction at the same time.

It was a strange feeling as if Rose's and my mind had become one. Probably because we were now thinking the exact same thing, which was that we wanted my mate to continue the kiss and lick every part of my body.

I couldn't help but stick my tongue out and lick him back. The hair on his chin was also very soft but not as soft as his tongue. He left another kiss on my mouth before he stood up. I let out a moan of dissatisfaction. Was he going to leave? My doubts were quickly answered.
