Chapter Twenty: "Little confrontation"

Alice Smith.

I can feel the cold sweat running down my back as the door swings open and she walks into the house. In one gulp I finish my glass and I watch as Diana comes out of the kitchen looking at me with fear in her eyes. WE can feel the power emanating from her small body.

"The best hoe in town is back, bitches!" Her voice seems like a roar.

With big and confident steps, she enters the small cabin and looks us both up and down. Her smile grows and she raises an eyebrow.

"Well, well," she says, her smile turning cynical. "I thought there would be a party or something like that. And those long faces? Aren't you glad to hear that Aradia is back?"

"Nobody wants you here," I blurt out coldly.

"Look at that! You can talk. ”Her laugh fills the silent room.

"Cut the crap, Aradia. We want Karla back. ”Diana says and I can see her resentment talking to that thing, the monster that Karla has let escape.

"Too bad, girls." She shrugs her shoulders and begins to take small steps to approach a window. "That will be impossible."

Fury runs through every inch of my being and I refill my glass with that caramel-colored liquor that makes my throat burn but feels like the gods when it takes effect. I drink, again, in a single gulp, I gulp down the contents of the glass and go back for more.

If I have to endure with Aradia's bullshit it will be with the help of alcohol.

My head begins to spin and although deep down a little voice says that I should stop now, but I don't stop and drink another one.

"My dear," Her voice fills the place again, "you should quit drinking, don't you think?"

When I turn my gaze to her I see that devilish smile that I hate.

"You shouldn't be here!" I yell and notice how I slur the words.

She raises her hands in a sign of innocence as if it were not the thing with her, but that gesture makes me even more enraged.

"You should just leave the fucking games you're up to every time you show up and just fucking disappear!"

Aradia looks at Diana in surprise and turns her gaze to me.

"How many swear words, girl," she says and clicks her tongue. "You should wash that mouth of yours with soap."

"And you should shut the fuck up!"

"Alice," Diana's voice reaches me followed by a sigh, "you should calm down."

"No! I'm not letting that thing corrupt her! "I'm short of breath and tears are starting to run down my cheeks." We all know that. Karla fades away every time with every appearance of Aradia and I do not intend to allow it. I'm not going to fucking allow it!"

I drop myself on the couch and looking at the ceiling I noticed a tear run down my temple.

Can not be. I just can't let him control her life again. Karla suffered enough because of this monster.

"I'm going to be honest with you, Alice." My gaze goes to her and to piss me off more she makes her eyes go black as coal. "I didn't want this to happen."

The smile of superiority that she tries to hide, the prepotency with which she talks and compromises; everything. Everything about her makes me even more enraged.

"You're lying" I interrupt her and scrambled to my feet again. "All you want to do is erase every bit of goodness in this world."

"Maybe. But that doesn't mean that I don't have feelings."

"Demons don't have that," Diana intervenes.

Aradia rolls her eyes and searches her back pocket for her cigarette pack. She takes one and lights it. Her eyes are still the most chilling blackness I had ever felt and she lets out a trickle of smoke as she watches her rise.

"That was rude. Of course, I have feelings, there are just different. ”She shrugs. "Gods don't have feelings either - she directs her gaze from her to Diana -, and you are the only human within this circle of protection that you have created around Karla - This time she turns her gaze towards me -. You're just a useless witch. You don't help at all because no matter how much Margaret has taught you, you still don't know how to make me disappear.

Her words hurt and I watch out of the corner of my eye as Diana looks at me with apprehension and pain in her eyes. Aradia has released what everyone who protects her thinks and that makes me fill my cup again. In a second I think to take my motorcycle and run out of this situation, get away from all this but I'm too drunk to take it.

"You all deserve what it will come." An angry whisper catches our attention. "I've been locked up for years, decades. Alice, if you were in my place you would be the same as me or even worse. Do not try to put yourself in my situation, do not try to understand me because you will never be able to feel what I felt in that damn cage. "A smile that seems to be sad is drawn on her lips.

Many times I have stopped to think about what she might feel, why of her actions, and her behavior, and I do not want to admit that if things had been done differently this story would be completely different.

"I would love to continue chatting with you more but I have work to do so see you next time." And she winks at us and that tone of sadness seems to fade away.

As soon as I hear the door close, I let out a great breath of air. My muscles relax and I briefly close my eyes.

"Don't believe anything she says." Diana's voice reaches my ears. "It is what she is looking for; get angry with each other."

"I don't think so. She's right. ”I shrug." I am not helping you at all. You do everything. All I do is keep the girl company."

Diana goes to the kitchen and comes back with a glass in her hand. She walks over to me and sits next to me on the couch. She picks up the bottle and generously fills her glass and takes a long gulp, grimacing in the process.

"You help us more than you think." Your magic protects her, hides her from people who want to harm her, " she puts her right hand on my back, "You are important to everyone."

I don't know whether to believe what comes out of her mouth. All I know is that I'm too drunk to think.

"Come on, I'll make you a coffee so you can relax."

"I don't feel like it," I draw out.

"I do not care. Come on, let's go."

She takes my hand and pulls me until she staggers me up and gets me to have that damn coffee. When I finish it, I jump into bed and the last thing I see when the dream starts to take effect are Aradia's black eyes and her devilish laugh.
