He answered. “Why are you doing this?” He asked. Hannah turned to him, pulled in by the smugness of his voice. There was no doubt about it. She couldn’t see his face, but she could tell.

“Because sooner, rather than later, you’ll go back to ignoring everyone. I’m making the best of this.” Raina said.

“You’re actually not making this easy.”

“I don’t want you to go back to ignoring me. Besides, you didn’t have to pick up.”

“You also never called this much before.”

“Things are different now. I know I shouldn’t say this, but I miss you and I think about you a lot.” He laughed. “A whole lot. Don’t laugh. Why are you laughing?”

“Because you always say things you say you shouldn’t say. I-“ Hannah coughed. He looked back, reminded she was in the room, grateful he didn’t say anything he shouldn’t have. She was still coughing, it looked serious, he stood up and faced her. “There’s water…” He trailed off as he bent down to get a bottle from under his table.
