=“We’re leaving.” Tanner had declared seconds after she left Matt and minutes later she was in her brother’s car wrapped in silence on the drive home. “What” Tanner finally spoke minutes later from the drivers seat of his car. Trip in the passenger seat and her stuck in the back seat. “Were you thinking?”

“About what?”

“Lying to me? Did you not know I would find out?” Tanner chuckled. “You asked if I’d be there today, why didn’t you just tell me?”

This wouldn’t be such a bad conversation if not for the fact that Trip, she glanced at him, was in here with them. What will he say? What stupid comment will fall out of his mouth? How will he embarrass her indirectly? “Can’t this wait till we’re home?”

“I’ve waited long enough Peggy. In fact, you’re lucky I let you even sit down with that boy. Who was that? Why did you lie to me? Who was that?”

“Please let this wait.” She pleaded, near desperate.
