The Girl… II 71A

More than once, Marvin left his seat to make phone calls. For someone who wanted them out, he’s really busy on his phone. Probably because he’s done what he wanted to do. Damn this. He hasn’t done anything, he’s not going to make him admit anything either. Who is he to look at him like he knows him? That reminded him of Lucille asking if he was tired, saying he’s been charming his way through the guests and ignoring everything he said in his defense. Oh god he is her son! Who has Tom brought into their lives?

He scratched his head, feeling uneasy, butterflies in his stomach. Maybe he should just leave, he can’t face this guy, what is he supposed to say to him? All he knows about him is he’s five years older than Lacey which means he’s twenty three and he works with movies or something. What does that even have to do with anything? Marvin came back to the table with his smile. “I’m being rude aren’t I?”

Sawyer sank back into his chair. “You have work to do.” He waved his hand.
