Perseus: God of War Chapter Three: Of Lost Memoirs and Legendary Blade- Part A

Percy POV

Early Morning (Very)

Master Bedroom

Dream Sequence

"…The Solonian you are fighting…he's the biggest man I have ever seen. I wouldn't want to fight him." A young boy dressed in rags spoke.

"And that's why no one will remember your name" I spoke down to him from horseback as he handed me my shield and spear.

"This war will never be forgotten...nor will the heroes that fight in it." Spoke a man wearing a tunic and breast plates as armor.

"Your glory walks hand in hand with your doom...," said a solemn woman.

"War is young men dying and old men talking…ignore the politics," said the same man.

"The Gods envy us…"

"You gave me peace… and a lifetime of war" I weakly muttered towards her… a faceless woman and blacked out.

Dream Sequence End

"Gasp! Gasp!"

Deep heavy breaths, I tried my best to calm myself.

"What the fuck was that…"

This was not a normal demigod dream, this was different. I looked towards the clock.

5 AM

Well, on the bright side it wasn't so early that I couldn't proceed with my daily morning chores. ADHD and Tartarus would have been a pain in the ass now but I was thankful for a dream that didn't consist of Sulphuric air and burning plains.

Estelle was still asleep. Thank the Gods.

I sat up in my bed and pondered how to go about my day.

Training.

University.

Job.

Family Time.

Sleep.

Hopefully no gods. Athena, while strict had come to be liked by all. Our relationship as teacher and student had been surprisingly cordial. Damn! I had never expected I would ever say that.

She had started teaching us about the Trojan War.

Achilles, a name still lingering in the sands of time. A warrior great but arrogant. A man made a legend for his deeds.

What men wanted, he just wanted more.

Hercules. The same.

Or Heracles.

Whichever you prefer.

As a child, like any child, I looked up to Hercules, Son of Zeus. The Savior. The Mighty. But now, I knew.

Now there was one difference.

Not in life. But in death.

While Hercules became a God, Achilles chose to stay at the banks of the very river he had once taken a dip as a babe. To warn those that took the curse.

The Curse of Achilles.

The Curse of The Styx.

Invulnerability, save one point.

I once had it. Luke had it too.

One living. One dead.

But there was something. Something, that I could not understand. Why had he scowled when I mentioned Luke's name? I mean, he had nothing to do with him. He could have just denied it.

Well. This cryptic shit was making me lazy.

I got up from my bed and proceeded with the daily routine.

Clarisse POV

Location: Camp Half-blood

Time: Late Evening

"Get up maggots!" I shouted at the pitiful demigods lying on the ground before me.

"Ugh..." moaned a nameless demigod among the group of whining brats.

These brats were pathetic. Nearly two years had passed since the war and demigods were flooding in. Probably the peace helped bring out newer demigods from hiding. Grover had been a good Lord of the Wild in terms of getting the satyrs to work and find half-bloods since there was no longer the need to have a Searcher's License.

But with peace came two very annoying downsides.

Namely.

Weakness and Arrogance.

These half-bloods didn't have the heart nor the strength to persevere through training drills and battles to the death.

People started calling this period as the "ηλικία μισού αίματος" Or the "Age of Half-Bloods."

This age honoring half-bloods for their continued effort to do or achieve something despite failures and obstacles.

Because of peace, half-bloods would turn up every week and get claimed which would of course lead to arrogance since it painted a picture of how The Gods cared about their mortal off springs.

Thankfully, it was kept under control since Chiron, our resident centaur was present. You don't become an immortal trainer of Heroes and not learn how to handle whining demigods that think that they rule the world.

"I am an important demigod, Bitch!" and here we go again.

Baldemar, a son of Hephaestus shouted.

"You are anyways not wanted around here, Daughter of The War-monger."

Since father's…er Ares's Betrayal we, the Ares Cabin had been at odds with pretty much everyone. They had connected and blamed us for our father's crimes. Which was unfair, they forgot that it was I, who slew The Drakon and was one of the front-line warriors.

SLAP! The demigod dropped like a pouch of loose screws. AN: Is that right?

"Shup up!" shouted The God of Automatons, Leo Repair Boy Valdez.

"She…" pointing towards me "… has slain The Drakon and has led demigods into battle, saved our people and most importantly fought alongside The Seven on the frontlines."

"Don't talk to her like that!"

"But…" tried interrupting Baldemar.

SLAP!

"Let this be a warning to all, Clarisse and her siblings stood with us and have bled alongside us for the freedom given to you! You will respect that freedom and you will respect her for the sacrifices she has made for that freedom. Don't reflect her father's deeds for her own. Do I make myself clear?"

...

Leo said, "Do I make myself clear?!"

"Yes Sir!" came the collective response.

"Good…"

"Class dismissed." And so, the trainees scattered after some moments.

Leo walked towards me and I turned away.

"You did not have to come to my defense, I could have easily handled it…"

"This is what friends do, Chris would not have wanted you to suffer like this…for something beyond your control." Leo stated.

"He would have not wanted it…." Leo continued.

Him.

The one I missed…how and why I did not know.

Percy Jackson.

Before his departure he had assured me that no one blamed us for the deeds of Ares. But it did not happen. But I did not blame him for the stupidity of others. That would make me a hypocrite.

He was now a legend… the only proof of his continued existence and reality of those quests was Nico, The Ghost King and the stories that were told at campfires by the eldest of the demigods.

We had been at odds ever since we met, but now only through the eyes of an adult did I see what Percy Jackson truly was, a warrior born from the embers of hardship and necessity rather than glory or power.

As much I claimed as a kid that Prissy was only a showoff and a hound for glory to reflect my own doubts and insecurities under the guise of a toughened virago, I knew deep down that Percy was the person I could admire and see myself becoming.

"Things would have been so nice if he wouldn't have left…" I thought.

"Where did that come from?"

As much I wanted him to be present, I knew he had responsibilities now and had to care for his baby sister and move on with his life, Gods knew he had earned it.

"…isse."

"…larisse!"

"CLARISSE!"

"What?!" I shouted back.

"You had spaced out for a minute there. You, okay?"

"I'm fine."

"You don't look fine to me." Leo replied.

I sighed "Just thinking about Prissy."

"Hmm."

"What?" I looked at him.

"Does the Drakon-slayer, Clarisse La Rue, have a cru..."

PUNCH!

"Don't even think about completing that sentence."

Suddenly the ground shook.

Demigods tripped and wood nymphs abandoned their trees.

We somehow stumbled our way to The Big House and asked Chiron about the tremors.

"What was that, Chiron?" I asked.

"I have no knowledge about it, maybe its Lord Poseidon?" He replied.

"I will ask Pops, wait a second." Leo proceeded making an Iris call.

Athena POV

Location: Mount Olympus

I was sitting on my Throne waiting for others to arrive. Regular monthly meetings had been a norm since the end of The Second Giant War. The Throne room had been redesigned since the last time by my daughter, Annabeth.

I was proud of her for what she had accomplished since the young age of twelve but the means to get immortality had left a bad taste in my mouth. I did not like the sea spawn, but he had in odd ways made us better rulers and individuals.

I could still hear whispers of Annabeth's deeds behind our backs from gods and residents alike.

Poseidon had flat out tried to kill her, but my timely intervention had saved her life or she would have been spending a few decades in Tartarus again. Our squabbles had become less since he chose now only to keep to himself and not bother arguing. While it was a welcomed change, it was still somewhat sad.

Slowly people started coming in,

Zeus, my father alongside his wife Hera sat down regally on their thrones.

Poseidon was next, sitting beside father. His trident gleaming.

Hades and Demeter came in arguing…most definitely about Persephone and crops not growing in the underworld.

Apollo and Artemis in their respective chariots. Apollo trying to seduce some hunters who were behind their mistress.

"Please leave us be, Lord Apollo ..." Thalia, Lieutenant of Artemis spoke up.

"But sister!" whined Apollo.

"Make yourself scarce, Apollo or my arrows will hit you where you don't shine." Artemis spoke threateningly.

"But it is the monthly meeting, you can't order me, Little Sister." Replied an annoyingly joyous Apollo. A hunting knife missing his head.

"For the last time, I am not your Little Sister! I helped Mother birth you!"

The hunters proceeded to sweat drop, dealing with this for eternity.

Hestia proceeded to tend to the Hearth.

Aphrodite came in smelling like she was dipped in perfume.

Hephaestus was tinkering with some toolbox.

Hermes came in looking like a salesman talking on the phone.

Dionysus was late as always reading a wine magazine with half-lidded eyes.

The only one left was Hercules.

Why.

Simple, father in his infinite "Wisdom" thought he would be the perfect candidate to take up the mantle of The God of War. Like having the domain of Strength and Heroes was not enough. That took his ego to new heights only surpassed by father, himself.

"Can we proceed with this meeting? I have a lot of orders coming in today." Hermes.

"I agree, the faster we start, the faster we can go about our ways and I can get away from Apollo." Artemis whined.

"Hey!" Apollo protested.

"Unfortunately, we are waiting for Hercules." I announced.

Time skip: 10 minutes Later

"Where is that disgusting male?" Artemis finally said, losing her patience.

"Let just proceed…since the dead count is going as it should be I say that his absence is not really a bother." Hades said gloomily.

Time skip: One and a Half Hour Later

"Finally! This meeting's over…" Apollo said getting up from his Throne.

"There is one more matter left." I interjected his tirade. And just like that he dropped down back in his throne from boredom.

"Can't it wait…" Apollo whined.

"It is an important one." I spoke.

"What could be more important than single ladies…"

"Perseus." That shut him up. He sat up straighter in his throne.

Poseidon looked up from his throne and the laziness in his eyes gone.

"Athena, what is the matter with Percy...is he alright?" It had been a while since he conversed with me.

"He is fine. I found him in Canada." I replied.

"Doing what?" Apollo interrupted.

"I am getting to that..." feeling irritated.

"Oh… Sorry" Sometimes I doubted, did Apollo have ADHD too.

"He is currently attending a university." I continued.

POOH! Dionysus, who was sipping his Diet Coke spat all its contents on the floor.

"Him, the Percy Jackson…The Son of Poseidon…let me repeat that… The Son of Poseidon." He emphasized.

"I know what I said Dionysus...it is true. He is currently pursuing a Degree in Forest Bioeconomy Sciences & Technology and doing a secondary course in Greek."

As I expected, the jaws of all Gods dropped to the floor. The best one by far was Poseidon, himself.

I think he himself had doubt over his son's success in the field of Academics.

"How did you come to acquire such information, Daughter?" asked Father.

"Some time ago, I went to the University of British Columbia where I took the job of a Greek History Professor. Imagine my surprise when in the front corner of the class sat Perseus Jackson."

"So, to summarize you met Percy, who is currently pursuing a degree and you are the one teaching him." Said Poseidon.

"Yes." As he heard this Poseidon proceeded to get up from his throne and tried to leave the Council Chambers.

"Where are you going, Brother?" Asked Hades.

"To file a complaint to the University of British Columbia." He answered.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because I don't want you teaching him half-assed History from your point of view." He retorted.

"Half-assed… I'll have you know students and faculties alike have congratulated me for teaching the course." I spoke angrily.

"Oh, please."

"Perseus, while not the best is actually a decent student. I don't even know how he came from your seed."

"ENOUGH!" father thundered.

"Poseidon, return to your throne and Athena please stop this argument proceed with your findings." He continued.

"As far as I know, he lives in Vancouver with his baby sister and works a part-time job as a Librarian."

The second bomb was dropped.

"Are you sure, you are not boasting about you children? Maybe you found another one like Annabeth." Aphrodite asked.

"No." I simply answered. I know what she was trying to do, after the entire reward ceremony, Aphrodite was the one to mock me about how the "Perfect Couple" had been broken up and I was very relieved.

I was, but not in the manner to harm somebody. I had doubts how it was her that leaked this very news about Annabeth in The Greco-Roman Pantheon.

"He has somehow been able to bypass the ADHD and Dyslexia to some extent and also been able to minimize his demigod scent."

"That is advantageous. How did he learn to do that?" Asked Hera.

"I don't know." I answered.

"Ha! You don't know. Athena, The Wise and Knowledgeable doesn't know." Poseidon said in between laughs.

"Shut up!" I said embarrassed.

"There is something else too…" My tone becoming graver.

"What is it?" spoke Artemis.

"We, as in I and Annabeth had a conversation in which she revealed some things to me about Perseus and her time in Tartarus."

At the mention of The Pit made everyone sit up, even Dionysus.

"What happened?" asked Poseidon obviously worried.

And so, I explained their encounters with Akhlys, the deal they made, their inability to move with the Death Mist, the betrayal, the ability of Perseus to control Poisons and Liquids, the tortures inflicted upon Akhlys, Annabeth conversations with Perseus and the rise of something darker in him.

I informed them about how Annabeth explained to me that Perseus was capable of using a god's own domain against them, his capabilities of going beyond the normal "Child of The Big Three Norm."

The Horrors of the Mansion of The Night and the experiences that were capable of making immortals insane, only known to Perseus himself. The revelation that Tartarus himself took a physical form to stop them from escaping the wretched place. Perseus's willingness to go against The Pit itself and the escape through the Doors of Death.

By the end of the tale, even Dionysus, The God of Madness looked pale. Poseidon actually threw up. Hestia came up beside him and placed her hand on his back soothing him. But she too, wasn't fairing any better.

"And she never came to us regarding all of this?" Father asked softly, yet it was heard clearly due to the silence.

"She was terrified of what Perseus was capable of, she also put off the talk to Perseus regarding Julian in fear of what he would do to both of them. Only now did she admit to it since she became a Goddess with my backing." I admitted.

"No Shit." Surprisingly those words came out of Hera's mouth. "If I can torture Hercules for being born from the seed of Zeus, Perseus is entitled to get his revenge if he so pleases. Afterall, he saved her during the Atlas Fiasco, gave up Godhood and fell into Tartarus for her."

"It is safe to say, that we are somewhat uncomfortable with a demigod this strong running around." Hermes laughed awkwardly.

"If you are saying what I think you are, don't say it…" Apollo said seriously.

"No, I did not mea…" Hermes tried negotiating.

"We all knew, what you are trying to say, Hermes." Apollo shot through his sentence.

"Apollo…" Artemis tried to mediate.

"No, Artemis. This goes beyond wars and prophecies."

He had never called her Artemis. Even the hunters looked shocked, only now knowing what Apollo was capable of. A burning inferno behind the bubbly personality.

"While I can't make up for the fact that a son of mine was responsible for the heartbreak and tom-foolery Perseus endured, I will not be the cause of his Doom." He said making his intentions clear.

"I, as the God of Prophecies and Future know most things. Things and outcomes that could happen in the near future. Not necessarily happen, but that which have a possibility of happening. Every Hero under my domain has some things for him/herself. But Percy, no no…No. He doesn't. I can't see anything. It's a blank slate. And I can't lie, I am the God of Truth."

Father looked pensive…scared…angry.

"I think we should just check up on him for now." Hestia suggested.

I nodded. "That would be wise. Iris show me Percy…"

BOOM!

"…Jackson."

The rainbow showed three blurry figures…

Simultaneously, another Iris message opened beside Hephaestus, showing Leo Valdez.

"Dad, the ground is shaking at camp, is it Lord Poseidon?"

"No, we are also wondering what it is…" The God of The Forge said looking towards Poseidon.

Annabeth, Jason, Piper and surprisingly Reyna, Bellona's Daughter came rushing in asking the same.

"Mother, what are these tremors?" my daughter asked.

"Lord Jupiter, is Lord Neptune the cause of the earthquakes at Camp Jupiter?"

"ENOUGH! All of you, it is not me, I myself am finding it strange. Triton too is not capable of this type of destruction." Poseidon said finally losing his patience for being blamed for something he did not do.

The Iris messaging on Athena side finally connected and showed the three figures clearly.

A black-haired woman on the ground with torn clothes and tear stained face, with a toddler in her hands.

Hercules…. Something was very wrong.

And finally, Perseus Jackson in all his glory, blocking his path towards the lady.

Hephaestus willed the Iris message to become a large glorified Conference Call.

"Is that Prissy?" asked Clarisse standing beside Chiron and Leo.

"Yes…" answered Poseidon.

"What is happening?" asked Jason.

"If you would have the patience to wait, you would find out." snapped Thalia.
