Back in California

Emma rushed towards me and threw me on the couch. She began yelling "Am I not good enough for you? Why can't you marry me? Do you not like me? Answer me." She began crying. I felt heartbroken but if I forced her to remember anything, she might land in hospital again. I got up and held her hand which she withdrew immediately. "It's for your own good. I can't tell you now but later everything will be alright I promise.", I begged. "No! Liar!", she exclaimed and began hitting me.

Suddenly, I lost my temper and yelled "I can't marry you because you're my sister alright? You're my sister and your real name is Emma." "Lies. Mom, dad is he telling the truth?", she asked. They burst into tears and nodded. "You're all lying.", she cried. "It's the truth. Remember when I told you I had a sister who lived here? I was talking about you", I said and flung her birth certificate in her face. She looked at it and began crying.

"No. It can't be true.", she cried and began moving back. Unfortunately, she slipped and hit her head on a glass table nearby then lost consciousness. "Emma", I yelled. I immediately picked her up and rushed her to the hospital. Dr Angelica told me that Emma had the chance of regaining her memory now... and little did I know she was right.

Sometime later, she woke up and I made to hug her but she pushed me away. She began "Stay away from me. You monster. You had me sent to jail unfairly. Do you know how much I cried waiting for you to realise your mistake and come bail me out of that mess every single day? You weren't there for me and I don't need you now either." For the first time, Mrs Daisy spoke up for me. "Not another word against your brother. Do you not have any shame? He left his home and business in California and came all the way here. Why? To chase after you and apologise. He protected you all this time and loved you. Besides, you still loved him even though you couldn't remember he was your brother. You even agreed to get married to him. So what's different now?" Emma replied nastily "What's different now is that I remember what a horrible person he could be to his own family." Mr Daisy added "That makes absolutely no sense. He is still the same guy you fell in love with. What changed now? May I ask you why you fell for him? You fell for him because he is kind, loving, smart, nice, and has always supported and protected you. At least, he came back for you. Yet, you treat him like this. After all he's done for you."

Emma frowned and sent us all out of the ward. I couldn't believe my plan to bring her back home had failed woefully. Mr and Mrs Daisy comforted me but I still felt sad. I decided to approach her once more. Once I got in, I knelt down beside her bed and said "I understand your pain. You are mad at me but please forgive me. I promise to make it up to you and give you the life you truly deserve. Please Emma." She frowned and said coldly "You understand nothing. After all, you weren't whipped and tortured. And one more thing. Don't you dare call me Emma. Call me Marina. I have nothing to do with you now.

You believed and trusted a friend over your own family and you expect me to follow you back to California like a little puppy. I suggest you return home and never show your face here. Ever again!" I was so sad and heartbroken that I paid her hospital bills and left the hospital. I immediately went back to the hotel and packed all of my belongings. I also took along all the gifts Emma had bought me the day I was not feeling well. I checked out of the hotel and booked a flight back to California. I arrived the next morning. Little did I know Tricia would have some bad news for me as I arrived...
