An Unexpected Visitor

NOTE: Jeff's POV

I was in my office one day having coffee when Ian came in and said someone wanted to see me and would not leave if he didn't. I sighed. Probably another crazy fan but oh boy was I wrong! I gave Ian permission to send the man in and when I saw him, he looked exactly like me. "Who are you?", I asked. He sat down and began "My son. The son I always loved and trusted. I've missed you so much." I was shocked and speechless, then snapped. "Dad? You?! I still recognise that ugly face from twenty two years ago. Get out of my office you monster. You abandoned your family and ran away. Now when you discover I am wealthy, you come running back. Just leave."

"You ungrateful brat. How dare you? I want all my money back. Give me money for all the things I bought you when you were little. Now, pay up. I didn't raise you to be a stingy man.", came the nasty words. I was so angry with this man and I lashed out "You're right dad. You didn't raise me to be a stingy man. In fact, you didn't raise me at all. You horrible cheater. You abandoned your family and left us for more than twenty years. Then when you hear of my success and wealth, you come running back. You don't deserve a penny from me and I will make sure you rot behind bars for leaving mom all alone. That is my promise to you." "Security", I called. I added "Call the police. Let them deal with this man."

Dad left my office screaming and I decided to let go of the past. When I told Emma everything, she agreed to help me to put dad behind bars. Fast forward two months dad did go to jail and Emma, Mr and Mrs Daisy decided to come live in California. Beside my house! I spoke to Emma often and went out together most of the time. Emma decided to continue acting and soon she became a huge celebrity in California and even other countries. I put more effort into my music business and life was good... until I felt lonely.

I was beginning to miss Tricia. But, I never even liked her. How was this possible? Days passed and I felt heartbroken for being so mean to her and not even apologising. Two years passed and I never thought I'd see Tricia again until one day... I ran into her at a coffee shop and I said "Hi." I didn't think she'd respond but she smiled and said "Hey. How are you Jeff?" I also noticed her skin was as smooth as a baby's. No more injuries or bruises. I was about to reply when a guy came and put his hand around her waist. I was shocked. "Hey babe. Are you ready to leave? Who is this guy, do you know him?", he asked.

"Just an old friend.", she said to him and smiled then turned back to me and said "Nice running into you again." Then, she was gone. I didn't know why I suddenly felt a surge of jealousy. But, I couldn't blame her. She had found someone better! I smiled and turned to see Emma standing behind me and waving. I walked to her and she chuckled "That hurt, didn't it?" I nodded and she patted my back. Just then, I said "Were you spying on me?" "Maybe", she replied and laughed.

I pulled her cheek and taunted "Naughty girl." She laughed and took my arm. We walked home, enjoying the breeze. "We did learn a lot, didn't we?", she asked. "Of course.", I replied. "One of which is?", she asked curiously. "Family will always come first. No matter what.", I told her. "That's okay. I learnt to always forgive no matter the circumstances. Now, let's go home. It's starting to get chilly.", she said happily. I smiled and took her hand and said "We'll always be family."

THE END
