Chapter 13

Annoying things always happen in our lives. We sometimes ignore them or deal with them. The annoying stuff sometimes creates unique problems, such as they were neither to be avoided nor to be dealt with. Such an annoying thing was happening behind my back, and the veins in my head were twitching nonstop, and I couldn't take it anymore.

"Are you going to stop it?" I shouted as I looked behind. Regis, the boy who had a rifle in his back, looked at me with a surprised look. As if I wanted to stop him from doing something very noble, which he wasn't doing at this time.

"Why?" He pretended to be surprised.

"First of all, I allowed you to follow me, not because you could annoy me to death. And secondly," I looked at Aria was grinning, "You also stop doing that, or I am gonna throw you into a ghoul nest." Then I looked at Regis, "Secondly, why the hell are you bothering Dana for? She already said she didn't want to follow you."

"I was just professing my love for her." Regis was posing as Romeo here, and I was not too fond of that smug face of his.

"Get the hell out; you are still licking your thumb while you sleep but talking about love. Grow up a few more years before doing it again."

Regis stopped doing whatever posing he was in and furiously looked at me as he eyed the laughing Dana and Linda.

"Why does it matter to you? You do not even care if they die the next day."

"Who said that?" I glared at him.

"You are the one who is always muttering about throwing them into a ghoul nest. Not me."

I would throw a few more insults, but then she came in between with her unreadable face. The face that I fell in love with. She dropped the massive sword in between us and then cracked her knuckles. "Should I put some sense into you, Regis?"

Regis looked at her face for a few seconds and then put his hands into his pants pockets and started to walk in the front.

"And you, is Dana, your daughter? Why the hell are you so protective of him just flirting a little." The world 'flirt' didn't fit in her mouth as she said the whole thing. She was a divine being.

It took me a lot of trying to move my focus from her and her divine self behind her, where Dana and Aria's jaws almost dropped to the ground. Dana had a little disappointed face. I wonder why?

"Yes, you do protect Dana and Aria like a father," Linda said from behind. She shook her backpack and changed its position on her back. She had a lot of things in there, and none of them were much helpful in the situations we were in every day.

"I don't want a father who is a few years older than me," Aria said quickly.

"Could be a big brother too." Linda looked at Aria while she said that. She was calm about all of this. It was only a few days that she was traveling with us.

I looked at Dana, who seemed like they wanted to cry. Dana was a quiet girl, but it seemed like she had difficulty accepting me as a big brother. I also liked the thought of being a brother more than a father, which Lucy mentioned. Ohh, Lucy is her name. The divine being with that massive sword. She picked it up again as soon as I looked at her again and started walking.

We all started to walk again. In the front there was Regis, then Lucy and I were behind them. Aria soon caught up to me.

"Are you mad at Regis because you can't be like him? Or can't do what he does?" She said to me in a whispering voice. I was stunned at what she said.

"What do you mean?" I glared at her.

"I mean, you also want to flirt with Lucy, right? But do not have the courage to." She chuckled after saying it and quickly walked in front beside Lucy as soon as I was going to hit her.

Maybe she was right. But I did want to protect Dana from that stupid boy. Not everything was because of jealousy.

It was three days from when we met Lucy and Regis. Lucy stopped her pursuit of the monster at the city center and started to travel with us for some unknown reason. I asked them several times but could not get any information about them other than siblings, which relieved me. Both of them were unique. Last night at Lucy's suggestion, we stayed in the open and was attacked by ghouls from all direction until Regis and Lucy killed almost all in sight. I also helped, but I was much slower than both of them at killing ghouls. Luckily there weren't any other stronger demons. Regis made the most commotion by shooting, and he could shoot, for god's sake. I never knew anyone could shoot with a gun like that. That little boy could kill an army with enough bullets before the army had a chance to do anything to him. Ghouls needed multiple shots, but still, the speed he killed them stunned me.

I asked them why they were following me; Lucy replied that they were also going in the same direction. I didn't bother them any more about that. I liked her to be with us. I looked at her, walking upfront, slightly leaning forward while walking as to keep her balance with that massive sword on her back. I tried to lift it once a day before yesterday; I couldn't even move it. That thing was heavy beyond my comprehension. Why did she have such a heavy sword? I had no idea.

Dana, Aria, and Linda also got well acquainted with them. Most of that credit should go to Regis as he talks a lot. He seems to have a crush on Dana, and I didn't like him for that.

I kept looking at Lucy's back as she walked. She was gorgeous. But before I could think more thoughts about her, I tripped on a rock.

Aria chuckled as she observed me. I got my footing back, frowned hard at her, and shook my head. I would teach you some manners after these two leaves. She still grinned and kept walking.

We soon came in front of the bridge. It was empty of life. I looked from the side, and the river was raging underneath. The water that passed there had some real strength. Even after leveling up a few more times last night, I would have a hard time. We will have to destroy the bridge after crossing to the other side. The large demon in the city center will have a hard time crossing it without the bridge.

I thought of automatic defense guns that are used in video games. I have used many of them over the years in many different games. I wonder if there were anything such as those in real life. I have no idea. But even if there weren't any, I will try to find any way to make something like that in the future. Let's see what that mansion has for us. We would reach there by tomorrow afternoon if everything went according to plans.

I looked at the siblings who were chatting with the girls. Lucy had a slight smile on her face, and she looked beautiful with that. Regis still was having some flirtatious tries with Dana, it seems, and Aria was waving her hands as she was saying something to Linda and Lucy.

It seemed like very little was going according to plan. I hope everything will be alright tomorrow.
