Zack always love to walk in the forest alone as he checks up to the other animals secretly and resolves disputes that may occur between them. He lives his life to the fullest until his father gets transferred to the abroad because of his work. Because of that, he didn't had much choice but to live with his grandma.

The Caretaker of the Woods

I woke up with all the rustling sounds outside my room. I looked at my alarm clock and it shows 5:00 AM. I groaned and covered my face with my blanket trying to continue my sleep. However, because of being a light sleeper, I guess it'll be impossible for me to drift to sleep again. 


I took a deep breath and finally got up. I walked towards my door and twisted the knob to know what's going on. There, I saw dad getting busy with all his luggage and papers. I didn't think he'll go this soon. Getting lost on my thoughts, I just stood straight and stared blankly. 


"Hey goodmorning. Sorry bud, I got to prepare everything earlier. Supposedly, I will pack my things later but my boss said that the schedule of my first day over there got changed".


 "Huh? Oh okay dad. What can I help you?" I responded trying to prevent myself getting distracted. "Oh, how about you make our breakfast?" he said and I nodded.


"Thanks bud" he smiled at me and I proceeded to our kitchen to cook some breakfast. I looked at our fridge to check what food I can cook and I saw vegetables. Alright, I'll just make some stir-fry veggies for this morning and I began my rituals in the kitchen.


"Breakfast is ready" I announced and my dad came in the kitchen and washed his hands as I sit on my chair ready to eat. Shortly after, he sat on his chair too and we said our graces and ate. 


"So, later when you get home you can prepare your clothes so that when your grandma comes here, you will be ready. You can just bring a few clothes for today and you can get the others tomorrow so that you won't have any much problems with bringing your luggage" he offered as he take a bite on his food.


"Okay but what time will you go the airport? I want to atleast send you there" I pouted and he gave me a genuine smile. "It will be on 3 PM. Don't you have many classes later?" and I nodded sadness evident on my eyes. 


"I'm going to try to excuse later on my professor. Can you wait for me a bit later?" I insisted with my puppy eyes. He sighed and ruffled my hair, "Alrighty then, just send me a text when you're on the way" and I nodded immediately with a huge smile plastered on my face which earned me a hearty laugh from him. "Okay, now come on you eat a lot" he said as he finishes his food and drinks a glass of water.


He then stood up to place his dirty plate on the sink and washed his hands. "So, I'll go back on preparing my things okay?" he suggested and I gave him a nod and continued to chew my food.
