[Salah's POV – The White Void]
The glowing orb that had merged with Salah's chest pulsed with a soft, golden light, filling him with a warmth that spread through every fiber of his being. He felt a strange sensation, as if his very soul was being rewoven, reshaped into something new. The voice that had guided him thus far spoke again, its tone calm and reassuring.
???: "The process has begun. The power you have chosen will merge with your soul, and a new body will be formed for you. This will take time, but when it is complete, you will be reborn in a world of magic and wonder."
Salah nodded, though he wasn't entirely sure what to expect. The idea of being reborn was both exhilarating and terrifying. He had spent his entire life as a healer, bound by the limitations of medicine and the fragility of the human body. The thought of wielding true power—magic, even—was almost too much to comprehend.
Salah: softly "What will this new world be like?"
???: "It is a world of great beauty and great danger. Magic flows through its veins, and its people are as diverse as they are powerful. You will find allies and enemies, challenges and triumphs. But remember, the power you wield is a gift, and with it comes great responsibility."
Salah took a deep breath, his mind racing with questions.
Salah: "Will I be alone?"
The voice hesitated, as if considering its response.
???: "You will not be alone. The world you are entering is vast, and there are many who will seek your aid. But your journey will be your own. You must forge your path, make your choices, and bear the consequences."
Salah nodded, his resolve hardening. He had always been a man of action, someone who faced challenges head-on. This new world, with all its unknowns, was no different.
Salah: "I understand. I'm ready."
The voice seemed to smile, though Salah couldn't see its form.
???: "Very well. The process will take time, but when it is complete, you will awaken in your new world. Use your power wisely, child of man, and may your journey be one of light and hope."
As the voice faded, Salah felt a strange sensation, as if he was being pulled into a deep, dreamless sleep. The white void around him began to dissolve, replaced by a swirling vortex of colors and light. He closed his eyes, letting the warmth of the orb envelop him, and drifted into unconsciousness.
[1,000 Years Later – The Barrier Dissipates]
Time passed in a blur, a thousand years of slumber in which Salah's soul was reshaped and reforged. The glowing orb that had merged with him worked tirelessly, weaving its magic into every fiber of his being. When the process was finally complete, the barrier that had surrounded him dissipated, and a gate appeared before him.
Salah opened his eyes, blinking against the sudden brightness. He was standing in a lush forest, the air thick with the scent of pine and the sound of birdsong. The trees towered above him, their leaves shimmering in the sunlight, and the ground beneath his feet was soft with moss.
[Salah's POV]
I stretched, feeling the unfamiliar sensation of a new body. My muscles were strong, my senses heightened, and my mind was filled with a wealth of knowledge and power. The orb had done its work well.
I looked down at my hands, marveling at their strength and dexterity. My old scars were gone, replaced by smooth, unblemished skin. I felt… alive. More alive than I had ever felt before.
A soft whinny drew my attention, and I turned to see a magnificent unicorn standing nearby. Its coat was pure white, its mane and tail shimmering like spun silver. It regarded me with intelligent eyes, its gaze filled with warmth and understanding.
Salah: softly "Are you… my mount?"
The unicorn nodded, its horn glowing faintly as it stepped closer. I reached out, running my hand along its neck, and felt a surge of connection, as if we were bound by something deeper than mere companionship.
Salah: smiling "Well, I guess we're in this together."
The unicorn nuzzled my hand, its breath warm against my skin. I climbed onto its back, feeling a sense of exhilaration as it spread its wings and took to the sky. The forest stretched out below us, a sea of green and gold, and I felt a surge of excitement. This was my new world, my new life.
[The Elven Forest – A Foul Presence]
As we flew over the forest, I felt a sudden spike of unease. The air grew heavy, and the birdsong faded, replaced by an eerie silence. My mount tensed beneath me, its wings beating faster as it descended toward the source of the disturbance.
We landed in a clearing, and I dismounted, my senses on high alert. The ground was trampled, the trees scarred with claw marks, and the air was thick with the stench of blood and decay. My stomach churned as I realized what had happened here.
Salah: softly "This is an ambush site."
I moved cautiously through the clearing, my eyes scanning for any signs of life. The bodies of orcs and elves lay scattered, their wounds fresh and their expressions frozen in pain and fear. My heart ached at the sight, and I felt a surge of anger. These people had been slaughtered, their lives cut short by senseless violence.
A soft groan drew my attention, and I turned to see an elf lying against a tree, his hand clutching a wound in his side. His eyes were glazed with pain, but they brightened as he saw me.
Elf: weakly "Help… please…"
I knelt beside him, my hands glowing with a soft, golden light as I cast a healing spell. The wound closed, and the color returned to his face, but his eyes remained filled with fear.
Elf: gasping "Thank you… but you must go. The orcs… they're still here."
I nodded, my resolve hardening.
Salah: "Stay here. I'll handle this."
I summoned my battle pet, Rex, a massive tiger with tusks like daggers and claws that could cut through iron. It appeared in a flash of light, its eyes glowing with intelligence as it regarded me.
Salah: firmly "Rex, we have work to do."
The tiger nodded, its muscles coiling as it prepared for battle. I climbed onto my mount, my heart pounding with a mix of fear and determination. This was my first test in this new world, and I wasn't about to fail.
