Chapter 1: The Corrupted Beast

[Salah's POV – The Forest of Shadows]

The forest was unnaturally quiet, the usual symphony of birdsong and rustling leaves replaced by an oppressive silence. The air was thick with the stench of decay, and the ground beneath my feet felt soft and spongy, as if it were alive. The elven warriors moved with practiced ease, their steps light and their movements fluid, but I could sense their unease. Even Lady Asura, usually so composed, seemed on edge.

Lady Asura: softly "We're close. Be on your guard."

I nodded, my hands glowing with golden light as I prepared to cast my spells. The warriors moved into formation, their weapons drawn and their expressions filled with determination.

Suddenly, a loud roar echoed through the trees, and the ground shook beneath our feet. A massive creature emerged from the shadows, its eyes glowing with malevolent light and its body covered in dark, pulsating veins. It was a corrupted beast, twisted by the dark magic that had been spreading across the land.

Elf Warrior: gasping "By the Light… what is that thing?"

Lady Asura: grimly "Stay focused. We'll take it down together."

The battle was fierce, the beast's claws slashing through the air with terrifying speed. I moved among the warriors, my hands glowing with golden light as I healed their injuries and restored their strength. But the beast was relentless, its dark magic resisting my spells and pushing us to our limits.

Just as the beast lunged at me, a figure stepped out of the shadows, their movements swift and precise. They wielded a blade of pure light, striking the beast with a force that sent it reeling. The figure turned to me, their eyes glowing with a mix of light and shadow.

Kael: mocking "You call yourselves warriors? You're barely holding your own."

I stared at the newcomer, my heart pounding. He was an elf, but unlike any I had ever seen. His silver hair was streaked with black, and his eyes held a cold, calculating gleam. He radiated power, but there was something unsettling about him—something dark.

Lady Asura: firmly "Who are you?"

Kael: smirking "Someone who doesn't need introductions. Now, are you going to stand there gawking, or are you going to help me take this thing down?"

The beast roared, charging at us once more. Kael moved with incredible speed, his blade cutting through the air as he struck the beast again and again. I cast a blessing spell on him, enhancing his strength and agility, and he glanced at me with a raised eyebrow.

Kael: dryly "Thanks, but I don't need your help."

Despite his words, the spell gave him the edge he needed to deliver the final blow. The beast let out a final, ear-splitting roar before collapsing to the ground, its body dissolving into shadow.

Lady Asura: cautiously "You're skilled, I'll give you that. But who are you, and why are you here?"

Kael sheathed his blade, his expression unreadable.

Kael: "I'm here because this is my fight too. But don't think that makes us allies."

With that, he turned and disappeared into the shadows, leaving us with more questions than answers.
