Sometimes the victim would wake up during their sleep, yet despite being fully conscious, their body would be unable to move, only able to detect that they were probably pinned down by some invisible monster.
"Eleanor, charge with your shield strike, Peggy, circle behind for a backstabbing, Medea, use mind suggestion!" Aske immediately issued commands.
Eleanor raised her shield and charged forward, and the Dream Angel, under Medea's mind suggestion, rapidly turned its head toward Eleanor. Its coiled long snout suddenly straightened and shot out like a chameleon's, hitting Eleanor's steel shield hard.
The force with which the long snout shot out was so great that Eleanor even stumbled backward slightly and almost lost grip of her steel shield. The next second, Peggy appeared behind it at near-blink speed, her short sword savagely piercing its hindquarters.
The sword plunged into flesh, and blood gushed forth like a fountain. The Dream Angel, in pain, stood erect with spikes all over its body and whipped around to bite. However, Peggy had been taught the essence of Agility Output, which was "hit and move immediately." By then, she had already moved far away, even leaving her short sword stuck in its body.
"Eleanor move forward, everyone else back up, Medea maintain the mind suggestion!" Aske quickly said, firing three shots from Aphrodite, redirecting the Dream Angel's attention with new pain.
Eleanor seized the opportunity to close in, slamming her shield with her shoulder to knock the Dream Angel back by its head, as her long spear thrust out like lightning, piercing the creature's soft belly.
Another loud crash. The mortally wounded Dream Angel once again shot out its sharp snout, colliding intensely with Eleanor's shield. At the same moment, Peggy had already rushed behind the Dream Angel, drawing her short sword for another stab.
Covered in numerous wounds, the Dream Angel finally ran out of its last bit of health, collapsing to the ground with a pitiful cry. A pale blue Extraordinary Power emanated from its body, vanishing - automatically absorbed by the five people present, turning into everyone's Experience Points.
The first battle was a success. Since it was their first time successfully killing an Extraordinary Creature, the girls were both relieved and jubilant. Nora was the first to rush forward, snapping away at the Dream Angel's corpse with her phone.
"Can I post this on social media, Aske?" she turned to ask Aske, her big eyes brimming with hope.
"Go ahead." Aske couldn't help but laugh and cry. How come these girls' thought processes were completely different from players'? Shouldn't they be checking the spoils first?
"If only it was in my father's territory," Eleanor said regretfully, "Uncle John could have turned it into a specimen and hung it on the wall of the castle's great hall as a trophy."
"Turning it into a specimen would be a waste," Aske said. "The Spiritual Material from the Dream Angel is the skin at the base of its longest spine, which will be lighter in color than the rest."
"I see it," Peggy said as she pulled out her short sword, grabbed the Dream Angel's longest spine, and carefully cut and collected the piece of skin.
Nora had finished taking photos by then, with a picture posing a victory sign over the corpse of the Dream Angel. She uploaded it to the social media circle of CM, and likes began to flood in quickly.
"Our newbie is fierce, eh, level 1 and killed an Extraordinary Creature? A Dream Angel?" commented a user from the Life Sect.
"Nora? Where on earth have you been? You haven't even called home for so long, Dad's furious!" This comment seemed to come from her sister, with the nickname "Dawn's Eldest, Kapaxilin."
"A Dream Angel? Couldn't be that you've encountered someone from Dream Heaven, right?" This comment was posted by Killian Bonnet.
Nora was just about to ask what "Dream Heaven" was when Killian followed up, "If you confirm that this Dream Beast isn't wild, I suggest you run away as soon as possible. The people from Dream Heaven are so crazy about finding the fragments of Heaven Mountain, they bite and kill like rabid dogs. It's too dangerous, so steer clear."
"Aske, what's Dream Heaven? Some kind of hidden organization?" Nora looked up and asked Aske with puzzlement.
"It's a Secret Sect that masters the Dream Sequence, possessing the bloodline route of the 'Dream Angel'," Aske said. "The Dream Sequence is the natural enemy to the Desire Sequence, so Medea needs to be careful in a bit."
"???" Medea was startled for a moment, then suddenly said, "My mother did warn me before, to be very careful of Transcendents from the Dream Sequence when I am outside."
"Mother?" The other girls turned back at her words.
"Ah, no," Medea casually said, "I meant to say my mother... just a slip of the tongue. But returning to the point, what should we do if they truly are people from Dream Heaven?"
"What else can we do now that we're in the instance?" Aske said with crossed arms, "Just push through the BOSS. Let's review this battle first; there are still many problems."
He walked over to the spot where the Dream Beast first hid, behind a large tree, turned his head back to the group, and said:
"The first shot was mine. Here comes the question: Why didn't Eleanor, who was leading, notice it?"
"Cough." Eleanor said a bit awkwardly, "Its hiding spot was too good, obscured by trees, and hard to see under the cover of night, plus its own ability to become invisible."
"Aske can't really blame you for that," Aske said. "Eleanor, your main task is more to focus on how to defend against stealth attacks. Otherwise, if you get taken out as soon as we start, we won't be able to continue with the instance. For the enemies that don't launch an attack but lurk in ambush, we can't spare more attention to spot them."
"Nora, take note," he pointed at the Dream Beast, "our team needs to recruit a Scout next."
"A Scout, is it?" Nora scribbled quickly, "We need someone befitting the role to scout the enemy situation."
"Rangers, Thieves, or Assassins all work; their job is to control the overall situation on the battlefield, providing an early warning system for the team," Aske instructed. "The second point this battle has revealed is that our damage output is still too weak."
"The Dream Beast has strong explosive power in its attacks, which means Eleanor can't counterattack while using her shield to defend. Peggy provides agility-based output, which fluctuates, and the firepower of my handgun is still too weak. If we can have one more person dealing damage, then we could attack from both front and rear during Peggy's first round of backstabbing, coordinate our focus fire, and potentially cut the kill time in half."
"So we need another damage dealer, huh?" Nora understood the term "output" to mean the role responsible for dealing damage, "What kind of profession do we specifically need?"
"For creatures like the Dream Beast, another Gunner would be sufficient. That's a professional Gunner," Aske explained. "If the Dream Beast had thicker skin, what we would need wouldn't be a Gunner but a melee Samurai, equipped with a thick axe or Nail Hammer to break through armor."
"Then let's recruit another Gunner and a melee Armor-breaking Warrior," Nora quickly noted down.
"In very rare cases, if the enemy has very high physical defense, like a Ghost for example, then we need an Arcane Mage," Aske concluded. "Before we fill these roles, I can double as the Gunner, and Medea can take on the role of Mage, but the priority is to recruit Thieves and Armor-breaking Warriors."
