Chapter Thirteen — Ceremonial Dinner (2)

★THIRD PERSON'S POV★

Still at the dinner hall

In Otro Mundo Hotel, Evander

"Do you really like Desha?" Mackenzie asked Jayden. He blinked his lashes as he was shocked when Mackenzie asked him that question.

"What?!" Jayden squawked, and that was enough to draw the fragile attention of the other guests at the table. "No way! I don't like that bitch! There's no way a cool lad like me will ever like that bitch..."

"O-okay..." Drawled Mackenzie who was knocked for six when Jayden said those spiteful words. "But you can never tell...you two are perfect for each other and...you know...your relationship with her can unite our family with theirs..." She added only to get a shot of glare from Jayden's fiery eyes and she kept mute straight away.

As the duo were talking, they were interrupted by a vulgar feat that happened between Caitlyn and Desha. Desha had wittingly thrown an icing to Caitlyn and that had ruined Caitlyn's evening gown. She quickly put up a pleading face and acted contrite with no tone of remorse. Thanks to Caitlyn's elder sister, Becca who cleaned the mess with a close by napkin. Not only her dress was ruined but her makeup as well and she huffed heatedly like a sprinter who ran a marathon race.

"Sorry Caitlyn, I just couldn't get hold of my emotions. It's not every day that wealthy families gather together as one to have a merry get-together. I'm so sorry to have ruined your cheap outfit but I can pay you even twice or thrice, just mention the price and..." Desha stated matter-of-factly to Caitlyn who was seething with irresponsible fury. Before Desha could finish her uncouth statements, Caitlyn had thrown a shrimp to Desha's sweet face. The other guests that were present were stunned by the outburst of the two fuming girls.

Becca tried to calm Caitlyn but it had appeared that her pleas were only fanning Caitlyn's flames. Desha's face was contoured with utmost disgust and anger as she flung the shrimp from her face only to land right at the empty plate of another hungry guest. Eyes were watching the horrid actions but the girls never cared even for a bit. Few minutes of silence had passed by and Caitlyn walked away from the table. It was considered rude for an invited guest to walk away while the feast was going on or without having a proper reason for doing so but Caitlyn didn't mind. Desha had always been a pain in the ass, the Jones' and the Sinclaires' have not always been in good terms even before they ventured into business lines. Hence, seeing Desha and Caitlyn fighting against each other wasn't so astonishing but the astonishing part was that their parents didn't separate them instead they were glaring and intimidating each other thru their stares and scowls.

After Caitlyn had calmed down and kept her cool, she let her body feel the cool evening breeze but the calmness turned into uneasiness when she heard some middle-aged men talking about nuptials and relationship.

"What's so difficult in convincing that sweet lad of yours that you call son?"

"It's not as easy as you think...he can be difficult to please, just as his mother." Stated the ultramarine-eyed man. He had puckered brows like a strict disciplinarian and he was possibly in deep thoughts.

"I've given you so much time to deliberate on this matter and I can't be patient to any further extent. The only reason why I'm keeping my cool is because of my daughter, Desha. She is so much in love with Jayden and wouldn't want to move on regardless of the fact that Jayden doesn't love her at all. There are so many young blokes all lined up, ready to give my daughter all the love she needs even to their very last breath."

"You should know how teens of these days are?! Wanting to do things in their own manners. Perhaps, we should give them some time for the duo to bind together though it might be time-consuming; considering how things are moving at a snail's pace, you'll need to exercise more patience."

Mr. Levi shook his head impulsively. "Mr. Flintstone, imagine your son and my daughter together. Our families would be bound together and we would be the most powerful, influential and governing family in Ohreja. No family would be able to beat us and we will remain resolute, so what do you suggest, Raleigh?"

"I'm in accord with you, Levi. I'll make sure that this works out whether Jayden wants it or not."

Mr. Levi and Mr. Raleigh laughed evilly after their short discussion and their laughter could be heard even in the abysmal depth of the night. That creepy act of theirs sent tremors to Caitlyn's spine and her brain snapped out. Her knees trembled in shock and she managed to sustain her balance thanks to the available railings.

"Do you need something to drink?" A warm voice awakened her numb senses. She really wanted something very cold to drink, stay in a calm environment and sieve out the bad memories from her brain. She already had enough of the humiliations.

"No! I'm fine." Caitlyn snapped, not even knowing who she was talking to but the warm voice felt much familiar, as if she has heard that voice from somewhere.

"Okay...how about you get to the gazebo for some fresh air. This place seems quite eerie for a delicate being like you." The warm voice spoke again in a much blithe and sweet manner. Turning around to see who this soothing voice belonged to, it was...
