I Almost Went to Hell?

Arya swiftly grabbed her bag and went rushing out the hallway to her room and locked the door so no one could interrupt her.

"What in the world are you doing calling me, Asher?"

"Now's not the time. I just got an alert as if you were about to fail your mission. Stop doing whatever you are doing right now! Fuck, forget it! I'm going back to your home right now!"

Arya was definitely having mixed feelings right now. Was Asher not the villain that she thought he was? Was she being biased with him just because he is a grim reaper?

"Wait… I was in Kanon's room, I almost spilled to her about this whole deal."

Asher did not speak for a few seconds, this worried Arya since Asher always gave back a snarky remark. Asher was not someone who will remain silent.

"Asher?"

"Did you told her anything?"

"Was about to, but you called and interrupted me."

Arya heard as Asher sighed in relief. "Good. I think you didn't know about this, but you can't let anyone know you have been reborn. This will lead to your immediate failure, and it also messes with the human's knowledge of us."

"And you planned on telling me that when? I almost failed my mission. Fuck off, Asher!" Arya hung the call.

Arya was angry with him again, but she had more important things to do like finding her mother and discussing with her the anonymous charity foundation. Arya opened her walk-in closet and started looking for her best clothes. As she wanted to look the best and professional in front of her mother, she chose a white button-up Valentino shirt paired with a Versace front-slit belted trousers. To finish her outfit, she added a pair of black Givenchy wedge pumps. Ava hated her daughters going barefoot around the house, so she forced them to wear shoes. The only place that the girls could be carefree was inside their rooms.

"This will make me look mature enough and they are Mother's favorite brands." Arya smiled triumphantly as she put her outfit in her bed and went to the bathroom to take a bath. She was going to style her hair in perfect waves. Her fifteen-year-old self had silky black hair that went till her hips. Arya had always wanted to cut her hair shorter and dye it in strawberry-blond or at least a light brown, but Ava had always been totally against it. She always said that Arya's hair and runway model body was her best assets.

Arya knew her mother would not return home before 7:00 pm when dinner was served, so she still had two more hours to make herself presentable, and make a proposal of why they should make the charity foundation anonymous. Compared to when she was really fifteen, Arya now knew how to deal with Ava.

It was as simple as breathing, Ava just hated when people mentioned her past. Arya would use this exact reason to make Ava concede to subsidize her. At 6:50 pm she received a text message from Violet.

"Hey, Ari… u there?"

"R u busy? R u @ your home yet?"

Arya had just finished putting a light makeup, and she was just admiring her look making sure that everything was of her mother's liking as she grabbed her phone to check who was chatting to her.

"Oh my! I forgot to text her back!"

Arya saw the time on her phone. She needed to be already downstairs, so she could not chat with Violet for long. She quickly sent her a text telling her she promised to tell her everything tomorrow at school and threw her phone to the bed as she went downstairs to the dining hall.

Kanon was already at the dining table when Arya arrived. She dressed in a simple white dress with light blue flats. Kanon looked a lot like Arya, but her hair was a shade lighter than Arya's. Her hair was more of a dark brown than black. While Arya exercised like crazy to maintain her runway model body, Kanon did not care so much about that, so she was not as toned as her. Kanon was blessed though with natural curves, while Arya was more on the flat side, sadly. In her past life, Arya on her nineteenth birthday had gifted herself a breast augment since at that time everyone in their circle was doing retouches with plastic surgeons. One thing that she really missed from her past life was definitely her fake C-cup boobs.

"Ari, you came early. You normally arrive when dinner has started."

"Yes… I have something to talk about with Mother."

Kanon then gave her the big sister supports you smile, "Don't worry Ari. Everything's going to be fine!"

That was one thing Arya loved about her sister. Kanon just supported her without questions. Arya was taking her seat beside Kanon when she heard her mother and father arrive. They were both already fighting about something again. It had always been the same routine with them. In the morning they were the loving couple, but in the evening, they looked like mortal enemies.

"I've told you many times, Eason! I have nothing with him! We are just friends!"

"Yeah, say whatever you want, Ava. Just remember who is the one giving you a damn roof to live in!"

"Oh… don't go playing the victim game with me, Eason Ling. I know about you and that little model. What was her name again? Oh right, Apple or Cherry? Can't you at least choose a whore whose name is not of a fruit?"

"I've got enough of you and your impertinence, Ava!"

Kanon and Arya could hear that someone had been slapped.

Just then, both of their parents appeared at the dining hall. Acting as if nothing had happened and that their daughters were deaf to the fight that they had just heard.

"Good evening girls," Eason went and gave a kiss in the cheeks to both of his daughters. Ava on the other hand just took her seat in front of her daughters without saying a word.

The girls could see that the one who was slapped was their mother as a red mark was appearing on her left cheek.

"Lissa!" Ava called, "Lissa, bring me an ice pack now!"

Just as fast as Lissa had come to Ava's call, she disappeared again to bring her what she had requested. Everyone in the Ling's mansion was already used to Eason beating his wife from time to time. No one spoke a word about it. Ava was no saint either, Eason sometimes had some scratch marks around his hands or neck, which people deduced was Ava's. In summary, both of them were the abuser, and the abused. Domestic violence and extramarital affair were not uncommon in the socialite's world. People just turned a blind eye to it and continued living their lives. The only rule was that it should never reach the tabloids.

The dinner was a quiet one. It was always a quiet one after the fights. Kanon and Arya were already so used to it they did not feel it awkward as when they were smaller. Arya knew that this was not the best time to talk with her mother about the foundation, but she had no time to waste, each second was valuable to her, and it may influence if hell was her final destination or not. So, she tried her luck after dessert was served.

"Mother, there is something I would like to talk with you about." Arya started.
