Magical Array

"This log house is full of magical arrays!" Jun Liang suddenly stated as they entered the log house.

Blinking, Sunny looked around the living area. "What do you mean? I'm the one who's not blind, so why am I the one who couldn't see anything?"

"I can't see it, but I can feel the spirit energy. An ordinary human can't see or feel it. The barrier around the whole clearing seems like a work of magical array too. But how did someone maintain it without a magic source?"

Looking dumbfounded by what she'd heard, she gawked at Jun Liang with her mouth hanging open. "Barrier? The whole clearing?"

"Yes, there's a barrier in this whole clearing that protects the area from any forms of life outside. That's why wild animals couldn't attack this log house.  Did you just find yourself inside this clearing?"

Sunny nodded.

"This means the barrier didn't consider you an outsider. You can go in and out without a problem."

"Then how about you?" she pointed at him.

Jun Liang put his hand on his chin, his eyes getting smaller. "That's what I'm thinking. The barrier didn't repel me at all."

"Isn't it because you're a canceller? You said any spiritual energy doesn't affect you."

Jun Liang tilted his head. "For a kid, you sure are paying attention to what an adult was saying."

Snorting inside, Sunny turned her head away. This young man didn't even have any idea that she was way older than him. She's the big sister here, alright? Though it's hard for her to believe such magical things exist, what could be better proof of that than her annoying body? How does one explain her case? Thus, she could absorb anything he said better than she thought.

"Magical arrays are different," Jun Liang explained. "It converts spirit energy into a form of a spell that's irreversible and it can't be cancelled by someone like me. But making an array is a monumental task. Those who can create one on the Ying continent are only those immortals in their five hundred years who have seen half of the world. Not to mention, the precious materials needed are rare and hard to gather."

"Then that means this array here was created by an immortal?"

"Probably." Jun Liang walked in the dining area while turning his head left and right, as if he was not blind at all. "An array to stop time and an array of spawning. I've never encountered this kind of array before."

What he said made Sunny snap her finger. "Oh! That's why the food in the fridge didn't go bad even after two years! You're telling me time here inside the log house is frozen. Is it something like that?"

"More or less," said Jun Liang, while curiously touching the surface of the refrigerator.

"Then what is spawning?"

"Inexhaustible supply. There is a dungeon in the Ying Continent where demon beasts spawn even after getting killed. It was said that the array inside the dungeon was created by the dungeon master to challenge cultivators on their way to a certain tower. I don't know much about it since I've only been on the part of the Ying continent where nomads can travel without a pass. Here, inside the log house, spawning was applied to the things inside."

"Whoa!" Sunny muttered in amazement. "I thought I'd just been imagining that the food inside the fridge and the pantry had strangely remained the same even though I looted almost half of it. We're not going to get hungry, brother, even if we live here for years! Hurray!" She even raised her hands in the air out of joy.

"You're letting me live here?" Jun Liang asked, cocking an eyebrow.

Sunny looked at Jun Liang, putting her hand on her waist. "Why not? You're still wounded, so I have to take care of you. And this place remains a mystery to us. We had better stick together to find out where we are. Two heads are better than one in dealing with problems like this, brother. If the owner of this log house shows up, you can explain to them that we're just trying to survive and that we're not in any way thieves. Can I count on you on that?"

It took a while before the young man answered dangerously, holding the handle of his sword at his waist. "I'll just cut them down if they refuse to listen."

Sunny cut into those thoughts. "Whoa, relax, brother. Please don't cut down people randomly. Consider that you have a kid here and those words are banned from my ears." She was still a modern person who was not accustomed to such a thing. But of course, she wasn't stupid either to let that kind of thinking endanger her safety. "But out of all the things I said, our lives are more important." Sunny tried to tap Jun Liang's shoulder, but since she couldn't reach it, she settled for his chest. Once she felt those hardened muscles, a stupid smile formed on her lips. This man is really the epitome of a woman's desires. Taking advantage of that gesture, her hand was like a sneaky thief that touched everything up and down. What a great feeling! But that great feeling was cut off when Jun Liang slapped her hand away.

"Too touchy," Jun Liang said coldly, with eyes full of suspicion.

Sunny faked a laugh. "I'm just checking if there are any other injuries. And speaking of injuries, I still need to stitch you up. Come over here." She took his hand without permission and pulled him into the small clinic.

She pushed Jun Liang onto the modern stretcher there and let him lie on his back. She rotated the lever under the bed to raise the head area. Moving nimbly like an expert, she prepared the things she needed for the operation. She put the sterilized forceps, scalpel, needle like-hook, thread, and operating scissors on the sterilized tray. Sunny put on the elastic gloves and cut the cloth in the wounded area. After that, she carefully removed the gauze, wetting and disinfecting the wound that stuck to the gauze.
