Caroline waited at the office constantly on edge pacing back and forth, I couldn t understand her nervousness, she wasn t the one about to march into this so-called mythical council and beg for her life. She kept checking her phone constantly. When I asked what was wrong, she just said she was waiting for her husband to come back. I wondered what her husband was doing that had her so on edge, when Josiah finally did show up, she all but ran to the elevator watching the numbers above the stainless-steel doors till it dinged on our floor.

Josiah stepped out of the elevator, an annoyed look on his face like he brought bad news. I felt my stomach drop instantly thinking it was the council as he spoke to his wife in a hushed voice before realising, I was standing watching them.

"Tobias isn t going to like this; I can t believe that evil wretch" I heard his mother say. Tobias walked out and motioned for his parents to step into his office.
