** CHAPTER ONE **

The sky over Pink City was getting darker eventually. Dark clouds prawled all over skies and threatened to shower the first rainfall after summer.

The night of ball was lively inside the two stored mansion that stood high proudly amidst the darkeness that was lurking out from the nearby forests.

A frustrated growl came out from her rosy lips when she tickled on her high heels and paced hurriedly into the party.

A mask had covered half of her fair skinned face. With her brown eyes darted back and forth, she was appearing little restless and uneasy regarding the occasions going around. Lifting up her sky blue gown a little foldingly, she picked up her pace again and strode inside in an unbelievable speed.

Standing on the doorstep, her expectant eyes wandered around to search for her dear best friend. A ball full of unknown people wasn't her preferable environment. She was partly introvert, always interacted with only few people who was very close to her. Mending into the ball of full unknown people was the biggest challenge for her personality.

A cheerful voice yelled at her from a certain corner of the party,

" Isabella, here.."

Following the resource of voice, Isabella averted her eyes on their way and immediately relief flooded in her brown eyes after watching her close friends.

Isabella Adams, a 19 years old growing up adult with her face full of smiles. With a dream of finding good job to support her family, she was majoring in computer science in the state university. Even the two best friends, Mia and Caroline were in the same batch with her. From the interaction with her friends, it was impossible to detect that she was actually introvert and scared of meeting new people.

Her black curls swayed beside her plump cheeks as she made her way towards Mia and Caroline. Rubbing her arms together, Isabella spoke with a cold snort,

" It's so chilling cold, outside. Why did you guys force me to join this ball? I feel so distant. Jeez! I don't know any of them."

Caroline was the smartest one among their group. Tanned skin, green eyes and wavy short blondie hairs had given her a vibe of smart one. She grinned maliciously, happy that she managed to drag her friend here and replied gulping down the last part of her Vodka,

" It will be fun, trust me. We dragged you here because of your introvert personality. Even boys can't go around you. Look into the ball. Dad has invited all the prominent figures of Pink City. Just go and grab one of them."

Isabella sighed shooting her best friend a helpless glance,

" You know that I don't plan to get married before graduation. Having boyfriend? It will only waste of time."

Mia Maxwell, the kickass heroin in their group put down the liquor from her hand. Burping shamelessly without caring about her image, she retorted with arrogancy,

" It's not bad to have a boyfriend, Isabella. If he treats you badly, just inform me once. I will be there to kick his ass out."

Caroline choked on her vodka and coughed awkwardly. Isabella smiled at Mia, grateful that she got some friends who genuinely cared about her wellbeing.

Not before Isabella could stay calm for a while, Caroline exclaimed pointing her thumb at the doorway,

" Gosh!! Look at the man! He must be handsome! Why the hell my father throw a theme party? We could have seen his face."

Three of them looked at the doorway together. Isabella frowned finding a man in his black retro suite. Due to the mask on his face, she couldn't get any description of his facial features.

Before she could tear her eyes from the man, Caroline tugged at her arms. Turning her head aside to face her, she heard Caroline's nagging,

" Go and get him, Isabella. Look, the couple dance will be starting soon. We both have our boyfriends to pair up but look at you. You will be leaving alone at a corner. Come on Isabella! Be brave! He must be any prominent figure since my father doesn't mingle with middle class people."

Isabella shook her head denying and excused to distant herself,

" No Caroline. It doesn't seem appropriate..I will be fine on my own. You two go and have fun in the dance. I will be cheering up for you guys here."

Caroline stomped on her feet, before growling at her furiously,

" Cheer up my ass! Just go! If you dare to come back to us, we will leave you alone in the ball."

Before Isabella could reply anything, she was pushed by Caroline towards the man. Isabella stumbled few steps before falling into a warm embrace.

Startled by the sudden coldness that the man had passed through his cold fingertips, Isabella gasped and managed herself to stand still.

How she wished that she could kill Caroline at this moment!

Isabella was embarrassed to bump on a man. Lowering her voice, she apologised sincerely,

" I am sorry..I didn't mean to.."

A chuckle came out from the other party. When Isabella looked up to see his face, his lips were slightly curved up amusingly. His pair of lips appeared seductive as if they were naturally luscious.

The man replied in an amusing voice,

" Sorry shouldn't be accepted for free."

Isabella was little surprised by his answer. His words were little cheesy that gave her weird feelings. Drawing a nervous breath, she replied through her nervousness,

" Then what can I offer to get your apology?"

The man smiled satisfyingly at her. Stealing a glimpse from the dance floor, he offered with a mysterious smile,

" How about a dance together? I am sure that you don't have any partner since you were wandering alone and fell in my arms."

Isabella hesitated in delusion. She wasn't familiar with him and dance was never her favourite. Wanting to refuse his proposal, she opened her mouth but the man's intimating voice came out first,

" You shouldn't refuse a man who is asking nothing but a simple dance with you."

Isabella was speechless. Bracing herself internally, she agreed reluctantly,

" Okay but please ignore my clumsiness."

The man laughed, staring deep into her eyes before uttering a single word,

" Perfect! "
