Mike was handsome in a way unlike his brother, his smile was boyish and he had a genuine ura to him that was appealing, Kelly found herself smiling at him and her usual guard that was up in the face of strangers softened towards him.
"Hello, nice to meet you too." She said without hesitation as she took his hand, even his grip was soft and friendly.
"I assume you are a guest of my Alexander's." He said still holding on to her hand.
She nodded, "I work for him and I uhh… I have some accommodation problems currently and he offered me a room here temporarily until I get sorted out." She explained.
He smiled at her again before finally letting go, "I am Mike, Alexander's younger brother."
"Kelly." She said.
"Kelly," He repeated, her name sounding melodious in her voice, "that's a very pretty name, very suitable." And she blushed at the indirect compliment, his attention on her was unwavering.
"Oh well, I should leave you to get settled in, by any chance do you know where my dickhead brother is? He isn't picking my calls." He asked his smile still in place.
Kelly's face fell a little at the memory, "Uhmm his girlfriend had an uh, she had an accident and has been hospitalized." She said uncomfortably.
"Tiffany had an accident? When? I just spoke to her and she sounded fine, are you sure?" He asked worry in his tone.
The butler coughed, "not her, the other one." He said in a tone meant to be discreet.
A shamed face look overcome Mike's expression, "It's not what you think Kelly," He turned to the butler, "Amelia had an accident, isn't she on tour or something?"
And despite herself, Kelly burst into laughter.
"Miss Jennifer sir, Miss Jennifer Hardy; the bracelet girl. Mr. Alexander is with no one else." The butler replied.
Mike chuckled, "so he wasn't just kidding around about that, it sounds like something from a fairytale, don't you think so Benjamin?"
The butler stiffened, "Mr. Alexander is very happy to have found her sir." He said maintaining a neutral ground. Kelly was lost on what they were on about, was there a backstory to Jennifer and Alexander?
And what was it they were saying about a bracelet, a memory nudged her and try as she might, she couldn't seem to grasp it and it left her leaving behind the feeling that she was missing something.
"I'll show Miss Kelly to her room." Benjamin said and led the way; Kelly smiled at Mike before following Benjamin.
"Bye," She heard Mike say eagerly after her and her smile broadened.
Kelly had been in her room for most of the day but she could still barely believe she was here; the space was triple of the room/pantry she'd slept in for the most of her life.
The bed was a king sized one, the room had its own television and she could envision herself falling asleep in the beautiful toilet. Kelly sighed happily and hugged the pillow to her, there were barely any words to describe the happiness she was feeling.
She felt like a princess who'd been held hostage and finally knew how to live in her castle but there was a nudge at the back of her head reminding her that all of these was just temporary.
A knock on the door grabbed her attention, she stood up and went to open it, Benjamin stood in his usual stiff manner, "Good day madam, Mr. Alexander has requested you presence downstairs for dinner."
Her heart race increased and a warm, fuzzy feeling descended on her as she thought of seeing him, "Oh I had no idea he was back." She said.
"He came in few minutes ago." He replied.
"Oh can I go like this? Do I need to change?" She asked honestly confused, she had no idea how this rich people did their thing.. She had long changed from her torn dress into a washed up but jeans and shirt but she didn't know if that was suitable.
"The choice is yours," He said and Kelly shrugged and stepped out of the room, he led the way downstairs.
"It's an outdoor dinner today, unlike yesterday." Benjamin said once again reminding her that it's just been last night she'd been here with Aunt Maddie, Uncle Tom and Jennifer.
He led her through a garden with a pathway lit up by bright lights and they finally came across a dinner table set, the Hanks brothers were seated opposite each other laughing at something.
They both looked up to stare at her as she came to join them but her eyes were fixated on only one man; he had a tired look on his face but his lips still curled up into a smile at her.
He stood up as she approached and pulled out a seat for her, Kelly smiled shyly hiding her face behind her hair but from the corner of her eyes, she saw Mike watching their interaction keenly.
She sat down on the seat next to him he'd pulled out and watched a young girl begin to dish out their food.
"How are you feeling?" Alexander asked her.
'I'm fine thank you." She replied in a polite tone.
"Do you like your new room? Are you comfortable?"
Kelly nodded; he will never know how much she'd loved it. "I did, it's really beautiful." She waited until they'd started eating before she dug into her meal, she moaned in pleasure at the taste of the food, then realized herself and covered her mouth with her hands, embarrassed.
The two of them turned to look at her and Mike chuckled, "well I can't say that wasn't sexy." He murmured and Alexander scowled at him.
'"Behave," He warned.
Kelly bowed her head into her food shyly and began to toy with it just as she heard Mike's laughter.
"It looks like it'll be a little fun messing with you Kelly but believe me; I'm as innocent as they come now the person you should be wary of is this asshole over there, and I hear you work for him, how long has it been?"
"Almost a year now," She said.
"Well I wouldn't say that's enough time to know the man but best b careful." He said laughing before turning to Alexander, "how's your girlfriend?"
And Kelly stiffened at the mention of Jennifer.
Alexander noticed her reaction and he couldn't blame her, Jennifer had woken up and said every vile thing in the world about her cousin, he had to tell her to stop, he didn't think she was lying but he'd known Kelly for a while now and could tell she wasn't that type of person,
She was a sweet and gentle soul, Alexander was sure there was a misunderstanding somewhere.
He hoped he wasn't been biased because of his attraction towards her, he couldn't help himself, the minute he'd set his eyes on her again, he felt himself harden and his muscle tensed.
He couldn't deny the fact that she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever set his eyes on and he felt he was betraying Jennifer in the worst way possible
She had saved his life and the least he could do was be loyal to her and Alexander was going to try his best to be just that, he promised himself.
He noticed Mike had been intently staring at her since she'd walked in and he recognize the look in his brother's eyes; desire, it was the same one Alxander had when he saw her and he couldn't believe that he and his brother were attracted to the same woman.
He clenched his jaw when he heard her laughter ring out from something Mike had said, that was one thing about Mike, he could disarm a person with his extremely charming personality, Alexander wished he had that, he wished he could make her laugh too but all she ever did in his presence was stand stoically and stutter.
***** **** **** ****
It was almost a month after Kelly had been living Alexander's home, she'd never experienced such fine living in all her life like she'd experienced in the two weeks.
He had travelled for work two days after she'd come to live with him and Mike had gone with him, so far it's been just her alone in the house, well and Benjamin and the other helps but they made themselves so invisible, it felt like she was the only one.
Work had been going well and Kelly's thirst for vengeance had intensified, she knew finally where she was going to start from and it was with the man whose house she lived in.
Fear and anticipation clenched her stomach at the dangerous thought of what she was going to do, she didn't know if it was going to go according to plan but she hoped it would, she knew how much it will break the Hardys of they lost Alexander; their daughter's golden man.
Kelly fingered her locks, she'd had a new haircut that even she knew accentuated her looks. She knew that Alexander's return flight was due by midnight and her anxiety heightened the closer the time came and her heart rate quickened when she heard a car pull up into the driveway a few minutes before 1am.
She waited for a few minutes before sliding out of her bedroom, she stood in front of his door and knocked softly.
"Come in," She heard him say and she pushed open the door and stepped in. His back was to her, he was standing shirtless checking something from one of his bags. Kelly used the few seconds to admire him, she felt the urge to run he fingers through his bare back, he turned to look at her and stopped,
"Kelly?" He asked in shock. She had expected the reaction, not only did she look different, she was dressed different; she was wearing just a shirt, a large T-shirt that stopped slightly above her knees.
She smiled at him, "how was your trip?" She asked in a well practiced sensual voice, she moved closer to him. "I hope you aren't too exhausted."
She saw him swallow as his eyes swept through her body, his intense gaze caused her body to shiver slightly with pleasure, she instantly felt wet as she recognized the fire in his eyes.
His voice came out as a grunt when he spoke, "I'm fine," And Kelly knew she was about to realize every fantasy and dream she'd ever had about him.
