Chapter 24 The portrait and the landscape Act 2

When Rosie returned with the defeated group to the room where the event was held it turned out that Fitzroy family had come. Having nice greetings and friendly talks, Lady Vernon wanted to show them the self-portrait of her daughter. The next moment the Earl of Sandwich, who was glad to serve them, brought the folder with the works. Rosie opened it. Why, it wasn't there! She looked again and found there only unfinished sketches and blank lists of paper but the portrait was gone. She looked at Miss Fortescue. She was gazing at her with a mean expression. Alas Fitzroys didn't see this work. It was wished to know what had happened with the self-portrait but right then the performance of jugglers was declared.
